Um, while we're on the topic of Sci-Fi musicals... has anyone bothered to click on the banner ads for Grail, cause I think if you haven't you should, cause it's awesome, and by awesome I mean -REDACTED BY GAWKER-.
It's not CGI- it's good old fashioned stop motion animation and physical effects (with a little Photoshop and After Effects thrown in). Totally charming- thanks for the post! I will definitely check out all the bands being discussed here.
@bluehinter: This had me laughing out loud at my workdesk like a raving idiot. I'm not much for their show, but their songs are hilarious- the Bowie Song is incredible.
When I'm sad, thinking about all humans being dead usually makes me feel a little better- now it will make me crack up laughing. Thanks!
@John Hazard: Yeah, their recorded stuff, and watching them play live is absolutely hilarious.
The TV show, on the other hand, is mostly just them shoehorning truncated versions of their best songs into an awkward semblance of a plot.
I don't fault it, since it vastly expanded their audience and probably netted them a bigger paycheck than any project they've worked on so far, but definitely make sure you listen to the "pure" version of their songs first.
@Dormouse II: The Wrath of Gryphon: Never could understand why she went back to suburbia with the screaming brat and the stepmom when she could have had, literally, everything she ever dreamed of.
@Dormouse II: The Wrath of Gryphon: I fell in love with David Bowie as The Goblin King. What an awesome movie! Definitely one of my favorites.... though it came out a year before I was born lol.
@Belabras: Mm... I liked the Killing Joke reference. Freakin awesome. The triviagasms are coming (ha!) closer and closer to completely overwhelming me with goodness. Freud take me away!

"Well, so long Mommy
I'm off to bomb a Commie
So pack me a salami
And try not to cry somehow--
I'll be back to you
When the War is over...
An hour an'a half from now!"

Ah yes! One of my favorites! I didn't even know these concerts had been filmed.
