The bodies of the dead humans are reanimated and compressed into dwarves. The dwarves are then exported via gateway to another dimension or planet for use as slave labor. The villianous Tall Man (never named) runs a funeral home as a front operation as he collects resource material for conversion.

How could you not mention that Kay-em is played by Lisa Ryder who played Beka Valentine on Andromeda? The movie also stars Andromeda herself Lexa Doig.

The really amusing part? The roles were a complete 180 from their Andromeda roles.

Lisa was playing a badass android, and Lexa was playing the pragmatic reluctant leader.

@Cash907Censored: correct, this is exactly what I was going to write. It's scifi noteworthy that the two females leads from Andromeda are there, with their roles reversed. :)

I really like the android here, with the 'barbie' body. This is something I wanted to see portrayed in film or TV. The female androids are usually normal, physically functional, women with obedient personality, rather than the manufactured approximation body I think they would probably be.

Do the Marvel Zombies count? Some of them have Sci-Fi elements and there was a time when they were floating through space in search of food before moving into dimensional eating sprees.

@Charlie Jane Anders: Also, interesting to note, the Flood form a sort of hive mind somewhat like the guys from Sly Mongoose. Which also makes me think of the zombie-like creatures from Stephen King's Cell, though they're a little too terrestrial for this list.

@disatess: Yeah? Well, I think you're a mutant zombie sheesh, so there. And I don't even know what that means. But I do think if it weren't the current zombie craze, poor Max Brooks would be out of a job. And what else is the little guy going to do? He can't live off his dad's dwindling hilarity forever...

@disatess: I'm not really being serious, just so you know. What I was originally going to say to your comment (before I decided to go the stupid, jokey route) was that it's not so much too many zombie flicks as it's too many zombies invading every single medium in increasingly ridiculous ways. Star Wars zombies? And I love zombies, they're my favorite nightmare, but it's getting a little much.

I also like World War Z the way it took the zombie survival guide which was essentially just a gag and turned it into a pretty gripping read, even despite the after-the-fact way the story is told, but I think Recorded Attacks is just returning to the well one time too many.

    1. The Reavers weren't very scary. They had a good backstory though, but I don't see how they made it to numero 3.

    2. The Geth aren't all slaves to Sovereign and the Reapers. Some dialog hints a sentient mind according to Tali's people.
