@LittleDragon: Skintight suits are a good idea, but the problems currently outweigh the advantages.
Issue #1: Takes a long time to put one. Think wetsuit x10.
Issue #2: Hard to get a good fit in some area like the crotch. And if it is not tight fitting you get suction problems in those areas.
@Starlionblue: I don't know have issue #1. When ever I have worn a full body wetsuit, it was fairly easy to get on but a pain to get off.
To deal with issue #2, just have personalized suits. I think they dealt with this issues in their proposal but need to go back and check.
The interesting thing to me was learning that the bulk of EVA mission time was spent by astronauts wrestling with their bulky suits. This new suit would be a real boon for EVAs.
I cannot believe how brave those astronauts were. Imagine putting on one of those iffy-looking suits and hoping they didn't fail when you had to walk on the moon. Heroes, indeed.

Growing up in DC, countless field trips were spent going to see the various Smithsonian Museums and the Air and Space never, ever, got boring or repetitive. I would walk as slow as possible through Skylab's thin walkway to absorb as much as I could.
Back when Air&Space was ina Quonset beside the Castle, they would let you sit in a [never launched] Mercury capsule and push the "fire retro rockets" button when the recorded Mission Control said to do so. It was so cool, but even as a kid of 9, I found the capsule a tight squeeze.
Memories.
@Aethelred: Same here. I never could figure out how grown-up men could fit into that, in a bulky spacesuit. How claustrophobic. But I guess you're too busy trying not to DIE IN OUTER SPACE to worry about that.

Too bad we probably won't ever need them.

Those aren't a done deal yet. Currently Oceaneering International has the contract for the new suits.
