I still love highlander to this day - it's one of those movies with such a huge cult following of seriously commited fans - the abuses we've put up with since the first movie are harrowing.
Yet, each and everytime there's a new Highlander property we hand over cash, go and watch it and then complain like beaten children... then demand another movie, or another TV show or another anime.
Then when it's released, we'll complain, pay to see it then demand another moive...
@Tyrunn: Yeah, I love the first Highlander film, and lately I've started going through the TV series again (thanks to Hulu), which is turning out to be more fun than I remember. #movies
@atrus123: Once you get passed the 'Mills and Boone' episodes, (those designed for housewives, i.e. woman in peril, Duncan helps her, but remains saintly and confined to chivalry at all times, they're quite good.
But like most people, I think the best character they came up with was Methos. #movies
"...he directed Resident Evil: Extinction, which was a much, much better film than it had any right to be."
I'm just going to assume that the above statement means "doesn't literally make your eyes bleed and your brain pour out of your ears." Which, can we say "redefining low standards"? #movies
I remember Duran Duran venting about how people said that their videos were too expensive but all five of their overseas videos were less than the cost of that one with Stevie Nicks twirling in the mirror. Makes sense though because how else would they have known that?
It's harder to be the penultimate video director than the guy who did "Video killed the radio star." #movies
@k4man: That was the first video I ever saw and I believe the first video MTV ever ran. At the time I thought "WTF" since it seemed that the purpose of MTV was to sell music, not video. Now it seems very appropriate. #movies
ahhahahahahaha, that total eclipse of the heart video is made of so much win...
still, it doesn't change the fact that every time I hear that song, I want to watch FAQ about time travel again. #movies
@RaveX: If I have enough drinks in me at the bar I'll sing that song as loud as I can do the dance routine my sister and I choreographed when we were ten together. #movies
Wow, I had no idea Russell Mulcahy was responsible for all those awesome music videos. But to be honest...looking at Highlander, it makes sense. The way those Queens songs are used to tell the narrative is just awesome. 'Who wants to live forever' in Highlander, doesnt even have an ounce of film dialogue. But the montage tells you everything you need to know about his heartbreak over the woman he loves getting older. Its genius. Highlanders a BIG film for me. Just great. #movies
@Charlie Jane Anders: the embedded one looks like some re-cut version done by someone else. there are elements of the real vid in there, but there are anachronisms in in that give it away: Casio wasn't yet making full-sized synth/keyboards in 1979/80, let alone keyboards with MIDI jacks (MIDI debuted in 1983); the drum pads and stand that they're playing toward the later part of the video looks like it's from Rock Band... #movies
@blatanville: OH duh. This is what I get for not paying attention, sorry. Ack. Of course all of the proper versions of the video are non-embeddable, too. #movies
wow..yea Berlin's video was great. I didn't know he did Highlander. Oddly enough I was aware he did Razorback which I need to see because the documentary Not Quite Hollywood peaked my interest. #movies
Why exactly did they feel the need to turn it into a rhyming story - especially one with some pretty clumsy rhymes? I don't think I'll ever understand how G4 does things. #wherethewildthingsare
