Also, the Gold Key comics? I am even now registering my amusement at voluable levels!
Yah, I remember getting a big squarebound collection of those for the astronomical price of $2.50 or so for a long car trip when I was nine. Even then I remember thinking, "Wow, this is really poopy art!"

This is from the animated Star Trek series, specifically an episode called "Yesteryear." Spock confronts a timeline in which he was killed as a child, so the idea that Spock has been tweaking his own past has been kicking around the Star Trek universe since 1973.

So the animated series counts as canon now? I've never been sure, but I've always felt it was.
That was a good ep of TAS. Spock has to use the Guardian of Forever to go back and pose as his own cousin to save his younger self from the killer beastie. Makes sense that he'd think of doing it again.
