Ok, it's time for my fandom secret. I hope I'm not the only one that secretly wished they'd both end up on Torchwood and get together. I loved them both.
I'm perfectly ok with unlike the rage Hudlin threw me into marrying Storm to Black Panther.
@♠ Final ♠: Mickey at first was annoying, but only because we still had interesting Rose and dark, brooding 9th Doctor. But damn, he saved the universe with his big yellow truck! After that, it was him struggling to be more then "that guy" and he moved up to "Tin Dog" levels. And that ain't shabby. But man, by the time Doomsday rolls around he's full on Universe hopping Awesome with a BFG!
Secretly I too have been hoping for this pairing. I loved Martha and absolutely loathed her hooking up with any other the other characters since I feel they just couldn't keep up with Martha Jones of UNIT! Damn, I just know they won't be on Torchwood, but I still dream. Maybe they'll be listed as being at another Torchwood branch.
@jbq: RTD came up with the concept for the character, but Moffat wrote his first appearance and so set the template. RTD has written his subsequent appearances in Dr Who. So you could say it's a joint creation.
I should have said "Mickey and Captain Jack are the RTD-era characters I'd most like to see back."
I always thought Mickey would join Torchwood. Given Noel Clarkes other ventures into the adult film world (Kidulthood is one). And especially after walking away with Jack and mentioning that he was pretty much lost with nowhere to go after leaving the Alt universe.
If the rumour rings true, marrying Mickey and Martha could be a stroke of genius by RTD. Think about it. Torchwood are missing 2 (sorry 3) essentially players right now. Tosh and Owen. Owen the gobby Doctor who thought he knew everything, and Tosh....slightly mad, but very calm and level headed. Mickey and Martha could make fantastic replacements in season 3!!!
Now Torchwood season 3 hasnt been ruled out and Children of Earth was just a 'filler'!! So this could well be the start of a very intresting turn of events.
@TehLastTimeLord: Because Rose is perfect, and awesome, and wonderful and the show just wasn't the same after she left, and how dare you even think about profaning her good name!
No, but really: Ricky had a great character arc, going from door mat to world defender. Really grew to like him, and would welcome him back anytime.
@ManchuCandidate: Mickey definitely grew on me in Tennant's first season. Honestly, at this point I'd be happy to see more Mickey than Rose. So dreadfully tired of Rose.
@ManchuCandidate: As for Martha, the hottest of all of the Doc's companions bar none.
Ah, these young whippersnappers who have not seen Leela (in particular from the "Talons of Weng-Chiang" episode) know not of what they speak.
She was an Amazoness who always carried a knife, and in the "Talons..." episode was in a wet bodice fighting giant rats in the sewers of Victorian London.
I, for one, am OK with this. Yeah, I want the answers. But I would much rather have some unanswered questions than have everything answered with a great deal of half-assery. #lost
@odinbearded: Agreed. Answer the big questions (which they should have good answers for) and leave some hints for the other stuff. The fans are going to debate it all anyway so unanswered questions are better than half-assed answers. #lost
@Ghost_in_the_Machine: And not every question has to be answered with a philosophical truth bisected by a conspiracy.
Q: "Where did he go for ten minutes???? OMG!!!"
A: He was taking a dump.
Since the creators decided that Libby's nuthouse story would be simple and down-to-earth, I'm glad they didn't force it in. Resolution would be nice, but we've had experience with forced small stories that don't advance the major plotlines.
@ophmarketing: There was a post from one Furlan's major fans on the Fuselage, years ago, right when Furlan was leaving the show, that indicated she was unhappy filming in HI with the limited use they made of her character. It was promptly removed by the moderators, but there may have been some truth to it. #lost
