Abrams' Next Mystery Project?]]> Buried deep down in the bottom of New York Times' interview with Paramount's Chariman Brad Grey was the news that neither the Star Trek sequel nor Mission Impossible 4 may be J.J. Abrams' next film project. But what is?

In the NYT article Grey leaks out a little news in regards to Star Trek 2 and MI:4.

As for J. J. Abrams, a producer and the director of "Star Trek," Mr. Grey is looking for "Star Trek 2." And "Mission: Impossible IV." And possibly before either, what he called another "tentpole" film to be directed by Mr. Abrams, and yet to be announced.

"We have been wildly ambitious," Mr. Grey said of his plans. "It has much to do with the fact that we are feeling as strong as we are."

At first we thought it was Mystery on Fifth Avenue, which Paramount has the rights to, and which is based on the story of a real-life wealthy Manhattan couple, who hired an architect to re-do their entire apartment with puzzles, compartments, messages, poems, codes and games for their four kids. But the architect went the extra mile and built clues all over the place, revealing books, music and lots of other crazy National Treasure-esque surprises in the apartment. It sounds great, but we wouldn't really attach the term "tent-pole" to that type of production.

Instead, we think this is just one more clue behind the J.J. Abrams "Untitled Project" which Paramount bought for $2 million. The last we've heard about this endeavor was that Simon Kinberg, writer of Sherlock Holmes and X-Men 3, and Aline Brosh McKenna of The Devil Wears Prada had both been brought on board.

We're not sure which one it will be, if any, but it sounds as though with Trek 2 already pushed back from its original 2011 target, the next outing for the Enterprise crew may be getting delayed even further.

<![CDATA[Thor Gets A New Vixen, Lost Gets Another Radical Costume Change, Doctor Who Gets Terminal]]> Spoilers: They break your heart with their false promises, but they also build you up. Today, actors offer hints about Thor, Spider-Man 4 and Star Trek 12. There are Doctor Who, Lost and Heroes filming pics. Plus Supernatural and Chuck.

Thor:

Natalie Portman let slip that her friend Kat Dennings (Nick And Norah's Infinite Playlist) will be in this film with her — and speculation is, she'll play Enchantress. [MTV via Cinematical]

Spider-Man 4:

No real news about this movie, which starts shooting early next year, but Tobey Maguire says he likes the idea of the Lizard as the main villain, because the Lizard has a history with Peter Parker, and "we often will go towards that kind of stuff." And he echoes Sam Raimi's comments about not knowing much about Carnage, who came to the wall-crawler's supporting cast much later on. He also likes Mysterio. [MTV]

Star Trek:

Continuing with the always-awesome vein of "actors making random predictions," Leonard Nimoy says he doubts J.J. Abrams and friends will call him to ask him to be in the sequel. He'll be happy to talk to them if they do call, but he figures he's already served his purpose. (And I bet J.J. is a lot more desperate for Nimoy to come back and do more Fringe appearances, something he's seemed a bit leery of doing lately.) [TrekMovie]

Doctor Who:

The Beeb released official summaries of David Tennant's final two parter, coming soon but not soon enough:

Part One: It's the Tenth Doctor's final journey – but his psychotic nemesis the Master has been reborn, on Christmas Eve. With both determined to cheat death, the battle ranges from the wastelands of London to the mysterious Immortality Gate, while the alien Ood warn of an even greater danger approaching, as a terrible shadow falls across the entire Universe.

Part Two: The Doctor faces the end of his life as the Master's plans hurtle out of control. With the sound of drums growing louder, and an ancient trap closing around the Earth, the Doctor and Wilf must fight alone. But sacrifices must be made, and the deadly prophecy warns: "He will knock four times."

[BlogtorWho]

Meanwhile, remember the filming a while back, from Matt Smith's first story, which takes place in the idyllic fictional village of Leadworth? Apparently they needed a few extra shots for that story, because Leadworth was resurrected the other day for a bunch of minor pick-up shots. (And they had to make it look like summer, which can't have been fun.) Scenes included Smith running in his Chaplin-esque way, and poking his head out of a window. Karen Gillan was there in her oddly sexy police uniform, with her little red car. More pics at the link. [Alun_Vega on Flickr]

Lost:

Are the alternate timelines making you dizzy yet? The show was filming a scene by a lovely scenic waterfall, featuring Sayid, Locke, Jin, Cindy and a bunch of others — all decked out as "Others." Have our gang joined the Others? (One eyewitness thought Kate was among them, but apparently not.) Also on set, but not filming yet, Sheila Kelly, the L.A. Law vet who will play Kendall, who's caught committing corporate esipionage and has to lie her way out. And meanwhile there are more set pics showing Miles and Sawyer as cops in L.A. [The ODI]

Supernatural:

As we mentioned, the 100th episode will focus largely on Dean. But it'll also fill in a lot of pieces of the puzzle, says Eric Kripke:

We're aiming for it to be a big mythology episode. The Archangel Michael plays a very large part as we explore his relationship with Dean

[EW]

Heroes:

Some new set pics actually look pretty intriguing — Claire is running, and Sylar is minus an eye. If they make Sylar a cyclops permanently, I might have to start watching again. Just so I can call him Cylar. (Or SyClops?) [SpoilerTV]

And of course, because this is Heroes, Masi Oka hints that "you never know" if Nathan will come back from the dead. [Zap2It]

Chuck:

And there are some new promos:

<![CDATA[Is Nestor Carbonell Bringing His Guylinered Stare To Star Trek's Khan?]]> Nestor Carbonell, also known as Batmanuel and Richard Alpert from Lost, is getting the rumor treatment today as a possible casting option for Star Trek 2's villainous Khan. One problem: No one knows if Khan's even in the next movie.

While Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman work on the script for Star Trek 2, which has not been finished yet, Comingsoon, is reporting that should Khan be in the next film, they've already got an actor in mind. It's none other than Nestor Carbonell, who we'd actually like to see unleash as the mastermind evil doer.

Up until now Nestor has played rather calm characters but we think he can pull off this role. Hypothetically, this is a great casting idea, unless you all can think of someone better. Call out your Khan casting ideas.

<![CDATA[Lost's Secret Theme Song, 2012 Awfulness, First Animated Doctor Who Clips, And New Caprica Glimpses]]> Greet the day with spoilers. There's footage from Caprica and Doctor Who's animated special. Lost's Cylon connection revealed! Abrams talks Star Trek, and Emmerich makes 2012 sound worse. Plus: V, Supernatural, Fringe, FlashForward, Twilight, Star Wars, True Blood and Smallville.

Star Trek 2:

It's been a few days since we've featured an almost koan-like vague utterance from one of the creators of this film, so here goes. J.J. Abrams says it would be a "challenge" to recast Khan Noonien Singh, but no more so than recasting Kirk, Spock and the others was. And he adds: "While I don't want to approach the second film as a remake of episodes we've seen in the past... nothing is off limits in terms of what we're discussing." So it won't be a straight-up remake of an original series episode, except that it might be. [MTV]

2012:

Roland Emmerich gives SciFi Wire a rundown on the monuments he destroys in this new movie. This time around, the White House gets pulverized when a tidal wave carries an aircraft carrier, the John F. Kennedy, into it. "I've got JFK kind of coming back to the White House, which I thought was ironic," says Emmerich, who's obviously a big Alanis Morrissette fan. Also, a big cruise ship, meant to evoke the Poseidon, rolls over. A big crack appears in the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. The Basilica, in the Vatican, tips over and falls on people. Also, the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro collapses "because I'm against organized religion," says Emmerich. (He wanted to destroy an Islamic monument, but feared a backlash.) [Sci Fi Wire]

Let Me In:

Matt Reeves has started filming his American remake of this Swedish classic, and Overture Films says it'll pay homage to the original, but reinvent it. [ShockTillYouDrop]

Doctor Who:

Here's the official synopsis for "Waters Of Mars," coming up Nov. 15:

Mars, 2059. Bowie Base One. Last recorded message: "Don't drink the water. Don't even touch it. Not one drop."...

Lindsay Duncan stars as Adelaide – the Doctor's cleverest and most strong-minded companion yet.

She and The Doctor face terror on the Red Planet as they battle against a mysterious alien living within the terrarium of life on Mars' surface which infects its victims using a water compound it creates.

Neighbours, Flying Doctors and Casualty star Peter O'Brien also guest stars as Ed, Adelaide's second-in-command at the base.

[Blogtor Who]

Someone else who went to the screening says that the "deadly water" storyline is clumsily executed. (The phrase "Water always waits. Water always wins" is spoken.) But generally it's great stuff. The dilemma the Doctor faces in the episode paves the way for his ultimate demise, and there are hints that the events of "The Runaway Bride" and "Fires Of Pompeii" will be important to the Doctor's future. Also, Russell T. Davies confirmed that Donna's mom and the Master's wife (Lucy Saxon) will be back in the final episodes, which we pretty much knew already. [Unreality TV]

Steven Moffat answered questions at the Screenwriters' Festival. He's a big fan of Peter Cushing's TARDIS from the 1960s movies, so don't be surprised if there are touches of that in the new TARDIS layout. He says the 1996 TV movie proves that you can't get too grown up with the series, and it should remain a children's show. And he's writing six episodes of the season, plus Richard Curtis is writing one — leaving six mystery slots. And Matt Smith is playing the Doctor as a much older man who just appears younger, not unlike Peter Davison. Moffat's biggest challenge? Writing the final episode.

[Den Of Geek and Digital Spy]

And here's the first clip from the animated episode, "Dreamland." I cannot get used to the look of this animation... [BBC]

Lost:

Even though Juliet is definitely dead, she's a major player in the final season, days Damon Lindelof:

Juliet basically birthed season 6 by the actions that she takes in the final seconds of season 5. She is completely responsible for the end game of the show. So the character is going to be seen in a slightly different light this year. We gave her that action for a reason, and that's because she's so important to the fabric of the story.

[EW]

Is Ben the Final Cylon? Damon Lindelof says the final season's mood, and maybe some of the storylines, are summed up by Bob Dylan's song "Visions Of Johanna":

I have that song on my iPod, and when I hear it I think about the show," said Lindelof. "There are certain lyrical phrases in that song that are very well-suited to 'Lost.'"

[MTV]

V:

Here's another sneak peek from tonight's premiere episode, which I'm pretty sure we haven't shown you. [E! Online]

Supernatural:

OMG here's the official synopsis for episode 10, "Abandon All Hope," the episode two major characters won't survive:

SAM AND DEAN FACE OFF AGAINST LUCIFER - Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Castiel (Misha Collins) track down the Colt and head off to find Lucifer (guest star Mark Pelligreno) to send him back to Hell. It's a hunters' reunion when the crew joins forces with Bobby (Jim Beaver), Ellen (guest star Samantha Ferris) and Jo (guest star Alona Tal) for what could be their last night on Earth.

[Devoted Fans Network via SpoilerTV]

Caprica:

Three new TV spots include some new footage. [Galactica Sitrep]

Fringe:

This week's episode is all about Broyles, and revisits a case from his past. We learn that he chose the Fringe Division over his marriage four years ago, and has lived to regret it. [E! Online]

FlashForward:

Here's the official description for episode nine, "Believe":

BRYCE BEGINS SEARCHING FOR THE WOMAN SEEN IN HIS FLASHFORWARD, AARON BECOMES CONCERNED OVER TRACY'S ODD BEHAVIOR, AND MARK TRIESTO TRACK DOWN THE PERSON WHO ALERTED OLIVIA ABOUT HIS DRINKING DURING HIS VISION

[SpoilerTV]

Smallville:

Here's the official description for "Pandora":

BACK TO THE FUTURE - Tess (Cassidy Freeman) kidnaps Lois (Erica Durance) to find out where Lois went after she disappeared for weeks. Lois's memory of the future depicts a Metropolis under Zod's (Callum Blue) rule and Clark (Tom Welling) powerless under the red sun, while Chloe (Allison Mack) forms a resistance group with Oliver (Justin Hartley). After learning of these future events, Clark makes an important decision about Zod.

[Kryptonsite]

Clark's black suit is just a bridge to his classic Superman costume, and once the Justice Society convinces him to embrace his human side, he can don more of the red and blue again. The season may even see him creating a costume with a bit more color, like Tobey Maguire in first Spider-Man movie. [TV Guide Magazine]

Here's another clip from Friday's new episode, featuring Tess and Zod.

Twilight:

Here's our first glimpse, from Eclipse, of Xavier Samuel as Riley, a baby vampire whom Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) uses as a pawn in her revenge on Bella. [MTV]

Star Wars: Clone Wars:

Here's a new image from tomorrow night's all-new episode, in which:

Anakin, Ahsoka and Ki-Adi-Mundi lead a landing party to destroy a droid factory that Poggle the Lesser has rebuilt on Geonosis, but things go terribly awry when Separatist gunners shoot down the Republic ships. Despite heavy losses, Anakin and Ki-Adi-Mundi must rendezvous in time to destroy the enemy factory before it can begin production.

True Blood:

Even though Godric is dead, the show's creators are considering exploring his 1,000 year history with Eric through flashbacks. [E! Online]

<![CDATA[Michael Caine Reveals His Inception Role, And Lost's Emilie de Ravin Gets A Weird New Island Role]]> Michael Caine drops a huge Inception spoiler! Sam Raimi talks Venom! 2012's ending revealed! A Lost character's surprising new side! Spoilers are life-altering, and Star Trek 2, Supernatural, The Road, Twilight, Stargate, FlashForward and Fringe are embracing the spoiler lifestyle.

Inception:

Michael Caine spills the beans about what part he plays in Christopher Nolan's first post-The Dark Knight` project:

I play a professor who's teaching a guy science. It's Leonardo diCaprio. He's going off to do a science project and he speaks to me before he goes.

But it sounds like he's only in the film for a few brief moments.[Empire Online]

Venom:

Spider-Man 4 director Sam Raimi, not surprisingly, has no clue whether this spin-off will take place in the same "universe" as his movies. (The same universe as in the same continuity — I'm fairly sure the laws of physics will apply, more or less, in both films.) [MTV]

Star Trek 2:

Writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman give another vague interview. This time around, they hint that there will be more exposure for characters other than Kirk and Spock in movie #2:

Kurtzman: For sure. In a sequel, you have even more of that burden, because the first movie is about introducing characters, but the second movie is about digging deeper into them. So you've got to make sure your story is giving everyone a moment… More than a moment. An arc.

Orci: We've always thought of the bridge crew as a family, so it's not just, "What are we gonna find for them?" It's part of the DNA of doing Star Trek right, I think - to make sure all the characters represent a significant part of the family.

[IGN via TrekWeb]

The Road:

Here's the final poster for this apocalptic funfest. [Cinemablend]

2012:

This new Adam Lambert music video seems to include some scenes from what must be the end of this movie, showing John Cusack and company emerging from storage containers unharmed. [Cinemablend]

Twilight:

Jackson Rathbone says Jasper Cullen's Civil War flashbacks in Eclipse don't take up quite as much time as they do in the book, but it's nice to see Jasper when he was still a bad dude. Also, as in the book, Jasper's the only one who knows how to combat the vampire army being raised by Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard). [MTV]

Also, director Chris Weitz says New Moon will follow the book's storyline, so we won't see that much of Edward. (Nooo!):

We didn't want to shoehorn him into the story. I did alter the visuals of the story in the sense that in the book, Kristen [Stewart]'s character has aural hallucinations — she hears his voice — and we've built in a very beautiful subtle effect so that we see him as well. But those are brief, if impactful, moments. A lot of the film is sustained by her loss and Taylor [Lautner]'s character bringing her back to life.

[IGN]

Lost:

Emilie de Ravin will be in every episode of season six, and we'll find out what happened to her. And we'll be seeing a different version of Claire — one that's more Rousseau-ish. As for the real Rousseau, we won't be seeing her in the final season — the producers asked Mira Furlan to return for the final season, but she turned them down due to a prior commitment. [EW]

Also, episode six is called "Sundown" and probably revolves around Sun and/or Jin. The show seems to be copying season one's pattern of character-centric episodes, but probably that will change with episode seven — unless we're really getting a Charlie-centric outing. [SpoilersLost]

Fringe:

We may not have seen the last of Charlie, since his duplicate in the alternate world is still running around. The show got rid of him because the producers wanted to get out of the FBI offices and more underground. And by the same token, we may not be seeing that much of new FBI character Special Agent Jessup (Meghan Markle) in the upcoming episodes — she's available if the show wants her, but she may not turn up that often, by the sound of things. We'll be getting to know our core characters more. Also, we may meet Olivia's evil stepfather this season. [EW]

Supernatural:

You won't have to wait much longer for the big showdown. Sam and Dean fight Lucifer in episode 10, and two characters die! [EW]

FlashForward:

Three sneak peeks from tonight's episode, "Gimme Some Truth":

Stargate Universe:

Just how angry is Sgt. Ronald Greer? Let Jamil Walker Smith explain:

And here's a sneak peek from Friday's new episode, "Light."

Sanctuary:

And a clip from tomorrow night's new episode, "Eulogy." Put those two episode titles together, you've got a Funkadelic song title.

Smallville:

In the episode called "Disciple," Steve Bacic will play The Dark Archer (bwa ha ha ha) who's Green Arrow's mentor and teaches him everything there is to know about archery. And darkness. Fans are speculating this is the same character as Merlyn The Archer from the comics. Also, Emilie Ullerup will play Cat Grant, and she appears in episode six, "Crossfire," the episode that also introduces Speedy. [ComicBookMovie and ComicBookMovie]

Heroes:

Here's the official description of episode 4x08, "Shadowboxing":

Claire is determined to get to the bottom of the attacks; H.R.G. realizes he may be the source of Claire's troubles; Peter's new ability is the perfect fit for his job; Sylar's battle at gaining full control of Matt's body escalates.

<![CDATA[Star Trek's Unaired Second Pilot Coming to Blu-Ray, But Next Trek Movie Delayed]]> Star Trek's second pilot — a longer version of "Where No Man Has Gone Before," introducing Captain Kirk — has never appeared anywhere, but it'll be on a new Blu-Ray set. Meanwhile, the next Trek movie is delayed one year.

According to TrekWeb, the Star Trek Season 3 Blu-Ray set will include the longer cut of "Where No Man Has Gone Before," which has never aired or appeared on DVD or VHS. (The Youtube video above includes all the sections that are different.) The original cut started with a view of our galaxy, while Captain Kirk talks poetically (in an "Enterprise Log," about Earth and its sun being specks of dust as the Enterprise ventures out of the galaxy. There's also a long scene of the crew stalking down a hallway as the ship goes on full alert, and a bit more Kirk/Spock banter. Not only that, but the opening and closing credits are totally different, with the televised "whoooo-ooooo" music being replaced by some music that sounds more like the show's other incidental tunes.

Given that the season three box set also includes season three, it's good that there's some incentive for fans to buy this thing.

Separately, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman told the Screenwriters Expo in L.A. that they think the next Star Trek movie is coming out in 2012, not 2011 as we've been told previously. Orci and Kurtzman had planned to have the screenplay done by Christmas, but with the new timeframe, they're going to take longer with it. As for what happens in Trek 2, says Kurtzman:

They're established now in the second movie and they're finally a crew so it will resemble what you see in terms of they are already who they are.

Which sounds very zen, somehow. [TrekWeb and Coming Soon]

<![CDATA[Star Trek Going To Guantanamo? Next Trek Will Be Topical, Say Creators]]> If you missed the Gene Roddenberry-ish social message in the most recent J.J. Abrams movie, then rejoice. On the other hand, if you're already tired of Bush-era "war on terror/torture" allegories, then the latest Star Trek 2 reports may disappoint.

Oh, and there are obviously spoilers in this post.

The L.A. Times caught up with director Abrams plus co-writer Roberto Orci, on the set of their TV show Fringe, and both Abrams and Orci hinted that the biggest difference between their first movie and the upcoming sequel would be the socially conscious message. Says Abrams:

The first movie was so concerned with just setting up the characters — their meeting each and galvanizing that family — that in many ways a sequel will have a very different mission. it needs to do what [the late 'Trek' creator Gene] Roddenberry did so well, which is allegory. It needs to tell a story that has connection to what is familiar and what is relevant. It also needs to tell it in a spectacular way that hides the machinery and in a primarily entertaining and hopefully moving story. There needs to be relevance, yes, and that doesn't mean it should be pretentious. If there are simple truths — truths connected to what we live — that elevates any story — that's true with any story.

So okay, that just means that they're going to make sure it has some kind of a messagethat reflects "simple truths." Doesn't necessarily mean we're going to get a full-on allegory for today's challenges. But then here's Orci:

We got a lot of fan response from the first one and a considerable amount of critical response and one of the things we heard was, ‘Make sure the next one deals with modern-day issues.' We're trying to keep it as up-to-date and as reflective of what's going on today as possible. So that's one thing, to make it reflect the things that we are all dealing with today.

The L.A. Times reporter asked if this meant the next Trek could deal with terrorism, the ethics of torture, or a long-running, painful war with the Klingons. And Orci acted as though the reporter had just read his mind.

A painful war with the Klingons sounds like a great backdrop for the next movie — allegories about terrorism and torture, though? Sound a bit too 2005. What do you think?

Star Trek:

Zoe Saldana says you shouldn't believe protestations by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman that they've barely even started talking about the next Trek script: She believes it's probably about half done. And she's sure the Spock/Uhura relationship will continue:

I am excited to see what they're going to do with their relationship in relation to what happened to Vulcan and what kind of responsibilities Spock is going to have in this next journey. Not only in his personal side but in terms of he's a race in extinction now.

[Sci Fi Wire]

Harry Potter:

Fans watched the filming of a stunt from the "Seven Potters" chapter of Deathly Hallows. Hagrid's stunt double (wearing a big coat and goggles) drove a motorcycle, weaving in and out of traffic. Also, there's a casting call for the second episode of the new season. We'll be meeting the sickly, strange Terry Karrens, aged 33 and the affluent, educated Bradley Karrens, in his late forties to early fifties. There's also the very respected — but very repressed — liberal arts college faculty member, Professor Gossen. There's a funny, odd guy named Franklin, a sexy, full-figured aunt in her thirties, a fit mom in her late forties, and two good-looking daughters, one 15-ish and one 22-ish. [SpoilerTV]

Battlestar Galactica:

Producer David S. Goyer revealed the titles of the first three episodes: "No More Good Days," "White To Play" and "137 Sekunden." And here's an interview with Goyer and recurring co-star Dominic Monaghan. [TV Overmind]

And star Joseph Fiennes says the FBI agents' board, full of newspaper clippings and photos and scribbled clues will lead us to whoever is behind the worldwide future-vision — and Fiennes is convinced the cause is a "who," not a "what." Striking images in the show include a black swan, an intense man with a widow's peak, and paintings of serpents and "weird-headed animals." Goyer says Monaghan's character, Simon, is a genius who went to college when he was 14 years old, and the kanagaroo you see hopping around L.A. will reappear because it "has a story." And executive producer Marc Guggenheim says we'll meet Zoey, the lawyer fiancee of John Cho's character, in episode three. Wel'll deal with whether they can still marry in the wake of the "flash forward." We'll also meet the mother of Fiennes' character at some point. [TV Guide Magazine]

Stargate Universe:

Here are some awesome new posters showing this fresh-faced, haunted new crew. [SpoilerTV]

Heroes:

Here's a pretty terrible/inaudible video of the season four trailer that was shown at Comic Con. Looks like Claire is back to committing suicide as a cry for attention.

And the show is seeking two actors to play carnies in episode 4x06: Damian is a "rock'n' roll biker type," a true carnie with haunted eyes — he's similar, in terms of presence, to the Haitian. And Teddy is another "rock'n' roll biker type," who has an unforeseen talent. [SpoilerTV]

Chuck:

The first episode of season three will be called "Chuck Vs. The Pink Slip," and will feature three new characters: Javier, a muscular Latin assassin, Yuri, the scariest of Russian spies, and Gilles, an incredibly handsome Frenchman. [ChuckTV]

True Blood:

The twelfth episode of the season will be called "Before The Night Is Over." [SpoilerTV]

<![CDATA[Major Spoilers For Iron Man 2, Transformers 3, BSG, Fringe, Supernatural And Stargate Universe!]]> Today's spoilergasm includes more vague Star Trek statements, but also hints on Iron Man 2 and Transformers 3. Plus crazy pics from Torchwood, Fringe and FlashForward. Edward James Olmos talks BSG's "The Plan." Also: Supernatural, Stargate and Vampire Diaries spoilers.

Star Trek:

Yet another day of vague statements about the next Trek film. I missed posting the other day this interview, in which J.J. Abrams seems to downplay the idea that the next movie could be about the Enterprise battling a force of nature instead of a traditional villain, as writers Orci and Kurtzman have hinted. Says Abrams:

Well, I'm open to anything. We've had some really interesting discussions so far but, you know - you have to be open to everything to find the right thing so the answer is sure, I'm open to that. I think in a story it's important to personify, somehow, what you're up against so it's a tricky one to figure out how to, like, fight evil wind!

So I'd say that's looking less likely. Meanwhile, Orci and Kurtzman were interviewed by UGO, and the interviewer suggested that he'd like to see a well-rounded Ferengi character in the next movie. To which Kurtzman said, "Right on." So does that mean we can start spreading rumors that the next movie will be all about the Ferengi? [Collider and UGO]

Iron Man 2:

There's a somewhat garbled report that Robert Downey Jr. saved an extra who had gotten hit by a stuntman in some kind of robot costume. The spoilery part is that it was a scene where a group of stunt men dressed as robotic villains rampage through a crowded event. [Cinemablend]

Transformers 3:

No, it's really not too soon to start talking about the next one. Are you kidding? It's almost too late. Director Michael Bay says the next movie will have a much bigger role for Ramon Rodriguez, who's Shia's sidekick in the current release. (I'm wondering if this is because Shia doesn't want to come back? Or just because Bay really likes Rodriguez.) [L.A. Times]

Battlestar Galactica:

Edward James Olmos confirms our report last week that Dean Stockwell is basically the star of "The Plan," the TV movie about the show's first two seasons from the Cylon standpoint. Apparently, Stockwell's character Cavil masterminded everything. But Grace Park also delivers an exquisite performance, says Olmos. And he says there's a major surprise in store for us as we learn about the Cylons' titular Plan:

What their plan was, I think that's a big surprise. Finding out what the plan was and how it was structured and how close they were to completing it.

And he says we'll learn how different from us the Cylons really are. [Sci Fi Wire]

Fringe:

Here are some set photos from the filming of the new season, involving some kind of car accident. Could this be the accident that involves an FBI agent vanishing from a locked car? And is that Olivia laying battered on the street? [SpoilerTV]

Supernatural:

Remember Meg, the evil demon who has it in for the Winchester boys? We haven't seen her since season two, but actor Rachel Miner says she'll be back in the new season. (I thought she died, for some reason. Didn't she get stabbed with the demon-killing knife, or shot with the colt?) Says producer Eric Kripke:

I've been wondering, what Meg's doing out there. I've been continually asking the writers, ‘Where's Meg?" She's would make a really formidable adversary. I got impatient and ended up writing her into my own script.

She may only appear in one episode. [TV Guide Magazine]

Torchwood:

The Radio Times includes some details about this miniseries. Apparently, Captain Jack has a scene with his daughter Alice, where she laments that "I get older... and you stay the same." She appears to be the same age as Jack. Also, the 1965 flashback involves children in duffel coats and boots marching towards a mysterious light and vanishing. The show features the biggest set in its history, the mysterious Floor 13. And here are some nice photos. More at the link. [Blogtor Who]

FlashForward:

Some cool new stills from the pilot. At the very least, this show will be pretty interesting. Just watching Shakespeare and Sulu hang out together will be cool. [SpoilerTV]

Stargate Universe:

Colonel Telford (Lou Diamond Philips) is expected to be a "recurring guest star" rather than a regular character, although his status remains swathed in mystery. In any case, it may be significant that he's not coming to Comic-Con for this show, and neither is Justin Louis, who plays Colonel Everett Young. [Gateworld]

Vampire Diaries:

I know your excitement for this show has already reached fever pitch. But just in case, here's a new promo to put you over the top:

And some new posters. [VampireDiariesWeb]

And MTV has a review. Apparently for every spooky fogbound moment, there's at least a minute of teen banter in the local cool hangout, accompanied by an upbeat soundtrack. And apparently, one character from the books, Elena's friend Meredith, isn't in the pilot but will show up eventually. And Stefan is from the show's small town, in the Civil War era — not Renaissance Italy as in the books. [MTV]

Past Life:

We reviewed the pilot for this new Fox show yesterday, but here are a bunch of stills to help keep all your previous incarnations excited. [Fox]

<![CDATA[Iron Man's Sexual Conquests Could Be Catching Up With Him]]> Spoilerati, rejoice! An Iron Man bombshell says she'll be back in the new movie, and an extra describes Tony Stark's public appearance. Also, J.J. Abrams talks Star Trek, and there are loads of Virtuality pics. Plus Inception, BSG and Heroes.

Iron Man 2:

An anonymous tipster tells io9 that this movie is seeking tons of extras to be in a large scene shooting in Van Nuys, CA over a five-day period. The extras are being asked to bring their street clothes, but also formal attire and casual wear. So the source speculates it takes place at some kind of science-and-technology expo. Possibly a scene where Tony Stark butts heads with Sam Rockwell's Justin Hammer? As always, take it with a few grains of salt, but it sounds plausible. [Anonymous source]

Also, Leslie Bibb, who played Christine Everhart (the reporter who jumps into bed with Tony Stark), let slip that she'll be back in the sequel. Could she be one of the people hounding Tony about his admission that he's Iron Man? [NY Post]

Star Trek:

Those of you are tired of vague quotes about whether the next Trek will be an all-new adventure or a rehash, skip to the next item. Director J.J. Abrams tells Sci Fi Wire, "The great thing is we're all open to anything," Abrams said. "I think the fun of where we are with Trek is that it can and should just be fully explored. So I think to limit ourselves to only new adventures would be a mistake. But I also think we want to take advantage of [the rich universe]." [Sci Fi Wire]

Inception:

Star Marilon Cotillard talks about this ambitious film, but doesn't say much besides volunteering that Christopher Nolan has "so many things to say and share." And the movie is hard to pin down to one genre. "It's about the mind, it's that complex," she adds. That clears everything up. [MTV]

Battlestar Galactica:

This is a totally unconfirmed rumor, but a source tells io9 that the "Plan" TV movie is all from the point of view of your favorite cranky Oedipal Cylon, Cavil, because that's the only way they could get Dean Stockwell to agree to be in it. And apparently, it's sort of a collection of outtakes from the first two seasons, to allow you to connect the dots. [You heard it on the Internet so it must be true]

Fringe:

So you know how the World Trade Center is still standing in the alternate New York that Olivia visits in the first season ending? The next season will explore the ramifications of that discovery, in terms of whether 9/11 never happened or whether it simply hit a different target, says J.J. Abrams in the same interview as the Trek comments above. "You have to watch to see how that plays out... I think it will be very satisfying." [Sci Fi Wire]

Virtuality:

A frakload of images from Friday's TV movie just turned up online. Enjoy! [SpoilerTV]

Heroes:

The stories this show is about to tell will "ROCK YOUR WORLD," promises Greg Grunberg, who wouldn't lie to you. Also, you can't fail to be excited when you find out the show is hunting for an eleven-year-old actor to play a young Nathan Petrelli. After all, the one crucial ingredient the show has been missing all along? Flashbacks. [EW]

Also, a source claims that Claire finds a dead body on the sidewalk in the season opener, and there's speculation it may be one of her two roommates. And the title of episode 4x03 has been confirmed as "Acceptance." [The ODI]

<![CDATA[A Cryptic Iron Man 2 Mega-Building, Plus Unlikely Comebacks On Lost And Supernatural]]> Another puzzling Iron Man 2 set pic heads up our spoiler barrage. Orci and Kurtzman talk Star Trek 2 again! Startling resurrections on Lost and Supernatural. Plus Warehouse 13, Eureka, Virtuality, Doctor Who, Heroes and Better Off Ted. Spoilers incoming!

Iron Man 2:

Another tantalizing-but-cryptic set photo shows a huge greenscreen structure being built at Sepulveda basin, out in the Encino hills. What's it for? Well, obviously they need natural surroundings around whatever will be represented by the green screen. Actually, I'll throw my guess out there: the structure itself looks like a prison. Or maybe a factory, judging from the pile of shipping containers over to the side. It just looks as though the guardrails and fencing along the top walls is designed to keep people in, rather than out. More at the link. [ScreenRant]

Also, Marvel's Joe Quesada visited the set and witnessed the filming of a scene involving Tony Stark, Pepper Potts and Whiplash. And there was another scene between Tony and Whiplash that takes place in the dusk. (Or at least, it was filmed at the end of the day.) And Quesada says the movie's storyline "reflects the things that we've worked on" over the past decade — so who knows what recent comics storylines could turn up there? [Comic Book Resources]

Star Trek 2:

Co-writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have barely started talking about Star Trek, but they're talking about it to reporters once again. Orci tells Sci Fi Wire:

The debate is do you do a story where you go through some familiar things from the series, but now their outcome can be a little bit different, or do you just make it totally new? That's what we're kind of debating right now," Orci added. "We're kind of going through everything we know and love and making sure we don't leave any unexplored gems. And then also simultaneously trying to think of new things completely. So we'll see. The best idea wins, original or old.

[Sci Fi Wire]

Lost:

Apparently Dominic Monaghan had breakfast with producer Damon Lindelof, and they may have discussed ways to bring back Charlie in the final season. [E! Online]

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje bailed on the show a few years ago, but now he says he's eager to come back and give Mr. Eko some closure. [TV Guide Magazine]

Supernatural:

Adrianne Palicki, who played Sam's doomed girlfriend Jessica in the show's pilot, will be back for one episode next season. It'll be early on, but not the pilot. We haven't seen her since season two, when that demon projected Dean into the dream world where Azazel never messed with the Winchester boys. [EW]

Warehouse 13:

Hey, this warehouse-of-relics show starts July 7. And here are some promo pics. [SpoilerTV]

And here are some stills from episode 3, "Resonance." [SpoilerTV]

And maybe you haven't yet seen this trailer:

Doctor Who:

Shockingly, the Daily Mirror was blowing smoke when it reported that all eleven Doctors would appear in a Children In Need special this fall. There's no truth to that rumor, a spokesperson says. There is some talk of doing a special charity episode, but no details yet. [Digital Spy]

Heroes:

Greg Grunberg says he's getting ready to film a sequence for episode two of the new season, with Zachary Quinto, in which Matt Parkman "beat[s] up on Sylar." [SpoilerTV]

Eureka:

When the show comes back July 10, we pick up where we left off. Jack Carter has lost his sheriff gig, and his new job with Homeland Security means he has to leave town, which makes his daughter Zoe and everyone else sad. Jack's replacement is Sheriff Andy, a humanoid computer simulation who's detail oriented but possibly out of his depth. But of course, Jack finds a way to stay in Eureka. [SF Universe]

Virtuality:

Erik Jensen says his character, engineer Jules Braun, is fleeing from a family tragedy that hit him and his wife, but the show's virtual reality modules bring this tragedy up anew. And that's a theme of the show: that even going into deep space, you can't really escape from your demons. The show's as much about inner space as it is about outer space, he explains. [Sci Fi Wire]

And here are a ton of clips that Fox put up on Youtube. I don't have time to check which of these weren't in the 12-minute preview we posted last week, so I apologize if you've seen them before:

Better Off Ted:

What happens with Lem and Phil in the remaining episodes of this season? Malcolm Barrett explains:

There's a lot of more crazy experiments. There's a bio-machine that goes haywire. We learn a little something about Veronica's personal life. We learn about stuff between Ted and his dad. There's a show with an office thing where everyone is trying to work on this project, but nobody knows what it is. They just basically want in on the hot project, and that causes some craziness. ... We find out some secrets about Linda and Ted's relationship, which gets tested through some things that happen at the office.

Also, Jonathan Slavin says Phil finds out he's got an identical twin who's leading an exciting, confident life, and Phil tries to do the same, with tragic results. The duo try to splice firefly DNA with plant DNA to create an illuminated garden, but accidentally create a fire squirrel. And we find out how Phil and Lem met. [Sci Fi Wire]

<![CDATA[What Villains Could Be Returning For Star Trek 12 And Spider-Man 4?]]> A new Transformers 2 clip shows all-out robo-chaos. Meanwhile, Roberto Orci talks Trek sequel villains (again) and a Spider-Man villain actor says he'll be back. Also, there are spoilers and pics from The Box, FlashForward, Fringe, Heroes and Warehouse 13!

Spider-Man 4:

A somewhat unlikely comeback: Michael Papajohn, who played the carjacker who kills Uncle Ben in the first movie, reportedly told a convention he'll be back in the fourth. A flashback? Or is the carjacker getting out of prison? Or something else? It could be just a bit part, but it's odd that Papajohn claims to have this gig already, when the script was probably just finished a week ago. Of course, Papajohn may not have said this at all, and it may just be a garbled report. [Superhero Hype]

Star Trek 2:

Co-writer Roberto Orci tells ComicBookMovie it's "tempting" to introduce Khan in this sequel, because the sequel will probably weave in and out of the original continuity the way the first one did. But it's risky, because you open yourself up to comparisons. [ComicBookMovie]

Inception:

Chris Nolan's "architecture of the mind" thriller has reportedly started shooting, and our only real spoiler is that locations reportedly include Tokyo, Tangiers, London, Paris, Calgary and Los Angeles. And did we already pass along the rumor that Ken Watanabe plays an exec who blackmails Leonardo DiCaprio's character? [Slashfilm]

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen:

Here's another new clip from this movie — Shia drops a fragment of the Allspark, and it sets his floor on fire and makes all the household appliances freak out. Hilarity, as they say, ensues.

The Box:

So you might have wondered just how Richard "Southland Tales" Kelly manages to turn Richard Matheson's six-page short story into a feature-length movie. Apparently, it's by treating the original story as the "first act" of a three-act structure. In the original 1970 story, a young couple receive a box with a button in it, and a man tells them that if they press the button, they receive $50,000 but someone they don't know will die. And there's a twist ending you can see coming a mile off if you've ever encountered a twist ending in your life. Kelly continues the story after the twist ending, as the couple struggle to survive and to discover the secrets behind the box. He keeps the story in the 1970s, but ups the reward to a cool million dollars. [Sci Fi Wire]

Doctor Who:

Timothy Dalton "plays a terrifying judge who puts the Doctor on trial in an intergalactic court case," claims a Welsh newspaper. (But I suspect this is made up — I think they're getting this from the Sun, which invented this plot strand when they were running our photos without attribution last week.) [Wales Online]

Fringe:

J.J. Abrams explains what's coming in season two:

First of all, I would say that the first year was about learning there is an enemy and I would say that Season 2 is about knowing the enemy. As the show progresses, and in the second season, it's building to a specific confrontation and a really interesting shift in the fundamental paradigm on the show in a very cool way. Without going into any details about it, it has a fun, fresh way in next year that I think you never know how it's going to work, but cross your fingers people are going to like it. Next season is thrilling for me, not in that they audience is coming back to experience what we're doing, but the excitement is not just these characters, but now playing with [those characters].

[IF Magazine via HeyUGuys]

FlashForward:

We will find out why everyone on Earth blacks out for exactly two minutes and 17 seconds, in particular. Alex Kingston (River Song from Doctor Who) has a role in the pilot and it's hinted she'll be back. The show's first thirteen episodes take place in six countries, including one episode in Dubai (with subtitles.) There are 10 main characters and each of them has his/her plot arc mapped out on a "mega bulletin board" made out of six regular-sized boards. And the MosaicCollective website will be an actual plot device on the show — everyone on Earth can go on there and map out what their flashforwards were, and cross-reference with other people's. It's the new Facebook. Saying "I Mosaiced you" will become common and grammatical.

There's an aspiring musician who has a "flashforward" showing that he becomes a huge rock star, but the two minutes and 17 seconds end just before he's about to play his signature song — leaving him uncertain what that song might be, and whether he's written it yet. None of the people who are in the audience during that flashforward know what the song is, either. And we'll find out if animals also experienced the "flashforward" phenomenon. [Zap2It]

Heroes:

New set photos show Milo Ventimiglia and Zachary Quinto on set together. Are Peter and Sylar going to have an encounter, after Matt's incredibly inept brainwashing wears off for the first time? (Really, it was more like a brain-splashing. Or even a brain-sprinkling.) Way more pics at the link. [Just Jared via SpoilerTV]

Warehouse 13:

Star Eddie McClintock describes his character, Pete Latimer:

He's a very impulsive, intelligent, man-child who has joined the Secret Service, in order to make good on some feelings of guilt that he has, in relation to the death of his father, when he was a child. He wants to make the world right.

And there's an episode where he's stuck in a cave and an artifact is trying to attach itself to his body, and he's in pain and terrified. Also, Myka (his fellow agent) gets into an altercation with Pete at one point, where she's punching and kicking him, and he's getting thrown over a table, knocking over lamps, and then falls down a hole.

Normally, though, Pete and Myka have a sort of brother-sister relationship, with Pete being the annoying younger brother. Over the course of the show, the Warehouse full of arcane artifacts becomes more of a main character itself, with the artifacts serving as antagonists. But around episode four, we meet a flesh-and-blood antagonist who's someone from warehousekeeper Artie (Saul Rubinek)'s past. [IESB]

Batman: The Brave And The Bold:

A few more details about that upcoming musical episode starring Neil Patrick Harris. Apparently, it co-stars Aquaman, voiced by John "Bender" DiMaggio, who also voices Gorilla Grodd — and Aquaman sings! Given how boastful and shallow DiMaggio's version of Arthur Curry is, that ought to be fun to watch. [Newsarama]

<![CDATA[Trek 2 Will Take Liberties, But Transformers 2 Is Already Taking Plenty]]> Your spoiler frenzy starts with Orci talking Trek 2, and continues with robo-porn moments in Transformers 2. There are hints about the We3 movie. Plus a spoilery Fringe casting call, and Lost, Ghostbusters 3, Heroes, Flash Forward and Sorcerer's Aprentice.

Star Trek 2:

Is this movie Trek 2 or Trek 12? You decide! In any case, co-writer Roberto Orci hints that some more changes to the timeline could happen in the sequel, although nobody's scribbled so much as a napkin so far:

I think the major lesson we learned is that fans were willing to accept differences and surprises, provided that they were somehow echoes or inspired by canon. We still have to be true to Star Trek the next time around, but we've also been blessed with being able to be unpredictable. And that doesn't mean we can just be shocking for no good reason and just throw everything away. ... It still has to echo everything that Star Trek has been.

[Sci Fi Wire]

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen:

Now it's the trade journals' turn to review this movie. Variety says the special effects are improved and the robots are more expressive, but nothing else has changed. When Sam goes to college, he attends a frat party that appears to take place in a strip club, and then he's "treated to a sort of lap dance by a Decepticon posing as a nymphomaniacal freshman." (But they didn't get the "Desexycon" memo.) And there's a shot of John Turturro in a G-string. Because you demanded it, whoever you are. At one point, Optimus muses, "If God made us in his image, then who made Him?" The big forest battle leaves Optimus Prime ready for the scrap heap. The actors have to shout to be heard over the noises and the thunderous music.

The Hollywood Reporter says the movie is an Indiana Jones-style quest for a 1,000-year-old "matrix" that will bring life back to the stricken Optimus Prime. And the movie is basically 147 minutes of colored metal flying around and people shouting loudly and quickly, so you can't understand what they're saying... but you don't really need to know what anyone's saying anyway.

Empire Online says there's a notable moment during the big robot-smackdown in Egypt, when Devastator (made out of several construction vehicles) is cilmbing a pyramid. The camera tilts so we can see Devastator's underside, and two wrecking balls dangle in our faces. Yes, Constructicon tea-bagging is here. Also, dogs hump each other, robots hump human legs, and the camera is glued to Megan Fox's torso. There are 42 robots, including one that can become a jaguar, one that can become a Dyson vacuum cleaner, and one that can become ball bearings to get inside secure facilities. You won't remember which robot is which, and there are four gremlin-esque bots that seem interchangeable. The Fallen can toss tanks around using his jagged staff. (Oh, and the Fallen is voiced by Tony Todd, not Leonard Nimoy as hinted a while back.) In the movie's opening Shanghai sequence, Optimus jumps on the face of a giant unicycle and tells it to "pull over." [via TLAMB]

We3

The comic-book adaptation I'm most excited about is still on track. Producer Don Murphy says he has a director for this film, John Stevenson (Kung Fu Panda) — and the film will be live-action, with a combination of CG, puppetry and real live animals. The cyborg animals' voices will be realized as a sort of robotic monotone, reflecting the fact that the animals have electrodes in their larynxes. Murphy's still looking for a studio for this picture, though. [Sci Fi Wire]

Ghostbusters 3:

During an interview about the new video game, Dan Aykroyd teases what you'll see in the third movie:

Well, for sure we need new recruits. We need a whole new team of Ghostbusters, because the generation of my Ghostbusters are all getting hip and knee replacements. Also, we don't have the strength to handle the heavy equipment to catch the ghosts. We need fresh and new blood to fill up the uniforms. That's the first element we need. And if we can train them with the ethics we had and a similar sense of humor, I think we can have good characters and a good story there. I think as far as bringing back the old cast it will be more like in the new STAR TREK — with cameo styles. But for now, I call this video game our third sequel.

[iF Magazine]

The Time Traveler's Wife:

This time-traveling romance put up a new website, with the following synopsis:

Clare (McAdams) has been in love with Henry (Bana) her entire life. She believes they are destined to be together, even though she never knows when they will be separated: Henry is a time traveler, cursed with a rare genetic anomaly that causes him to live his life on a shifting timeline, skipping back and forth through his lifespan with no control. Despite the fact that Henry's travels force them apart with no warning, Clare desperately tries to build a life with her one true love.

Shorts:

Here's the new poster for this Robert Rodriguez joint about a kid who finds a rainbow stone with magical properties. [IGN]

The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

Some new set pics show Monica Belucci and Nic Cage... I have a bad feeling about this. [SpoilerTV-Movies]

Fringe:

A casting call for the series opener includes three new characters. There's a nurse in her early thirties, who takes care of a patient after an accident. She has olive skin and dark hair, but "could be a dark-skinned caucasian." She seems trustworthy, chatting with a patient in the hospital room, but it's clear there's something weird about her. And the actor should be able to portray an assassin.

Also, there's Rebecca, a "real-looking," not glamorous girl in her late teens, early twenties, around 1978. She gets "stoned beyond belief" on some concoction that Walter was working on back then, and talks in a "sexy/funny/scary stupor." And finally, there's Lloyd Parr, a "hyper-competent" guy in his thirties to early fifties. They're seeking a "strong character actor" who can play someone out of John Frankenheimer movie. [SpoilerTV]

Heroes:

Here are the first set pics from season four. Claire is on campus, with her roommate Gretchen (the black-haired woman behind her) and they're going to some kind of anti-war rally. (I love how this show keeps up with what the kids are doing nowadays.) And she pauses to chat with some cheerleaders. More pics at the link. [The ODI]

Lost:

I don't think Michael Emerson has seen any scripts for season six yet, but he says he's got a vague sense that Ben still has an important role to play in season six, and he "hopes" Ben survives until almost the last episode. And he says that it's entirely possible Ben will escape any retribution for his crimes. If the island itself gets destroyed, Ben will still find a way out, says Emerson:

Ben is a great man for the secret exit. Ben always has an escape, I think. It may be a piece of wood, floating on the ocean. Or it may be a rope, or a secret door. Or, you know, an Ecuadorian passport and a plastic bag, something like that. He's probably going to survive

[E! Online]

Flash Forward:

A couple new promos for this ABC series based on Robert J. Sawyer's book. [FlashForwardSeries.com]

Chuck:

Not sure if this is a spoiler or just speculation, but TV Guide's Matt Roush believes the new shorter season of this show will feature fewer annoying subplots at the Buy More. [TV Guide via Chuck TV]

<![CDATA[Action Scenes From Transformers And Book Of Eli Described. Plus A Deadpool Promise!]]> It's a bumper crop of Monday spoilers. Michael Bay showed off new Transformers footage. Zoe Saldana talks Star Trek 2 and Ryan Reynolds talks Deadpool. A Book Of Eli action scene described. We uncover crazy Doctor Who rumors and Lost finale details. Plus Thor, Dollhouse, V, Stargate, Heroes and Smallville!

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen:

Michael Bay, showing he really does love giant robots, went to a convention called Bot-Con and showed off some footage. There was a clip of John Turturro and Sam's new college roommate standing in a construction zone. A group of construction vehicles surround them. Then you see Mixmaster's Decepticon symbol, and realize these are Constructicons! ZOMG! The Constructicons move closer together to form Devastator. And apparently you can tell that Scavenger has the ability to force the other Constructicons to form Devastator, whether they want to or not. Oh noes! (Apparently this is sort of like a movie that Scorpion does in Mortal Kombat?)

Meanwhile, Sam and Mikaela are running away from Rampage. Then Rampage starts chasing Sam's dad, so Sam jumps out in front of him to draw his attention away from his father. Sam says, "Wait, it's not them you want. It's this, the Matrix!" He waves an item, and keeps luring Rampage away, until Bumblebee shows up. The bots fight, with Bumblebee gaining the upper hand when Ravage joins the fight too. Ravage blasts Bumblebee with his hip cannons, and jumps on his back. Rampage lunges for Sam, but Bumblebee throws him to the ground. And then Bumblebee tears Ravage apart — meaning, hopefully, that we never have to keep track of the difference between Ravage and Rampage again. [Seibertron]

And here are some new pics from the film. [Celebutopia]

Star Trek 2:

This is barely a spoiler, but it's early days yet. Zoe Saldana hints that she'd quite like to see Uhura ditch Spock and get with Kirk in the next movie. She, of course, is not actually writing the script. [Trek Movie]

Deadpool:

Ryan Reynolds says early discussions with the studio are leaving him confident that they want the Deadpool solo film to be as close to the comic-book material as possible. He adds, "I will husk-fuck a herd of cattle to bring Wade Wilson to life as the real deal." And no, I don't know what that means either. Is it a corn thing? And he adds that there's no reason that a Deadpool movie would need to have much connection with the Wolverine movie, where he got decapitated. The biggest villain in a Deadpool movie will always be Deadpool, Reynolds says, and the movie should be pop-savvy and self-aware, like the comics. [IGN]

Thor:

British actor Tom Hiddleston talks Loki:

Loki's like a comic book version of Edmund in King Lear, but nastier. Loki's skilled in black magic and scorcery. He's a shape-shifter and has all sorts of super powers from the dark arts. He can turn clouds into dragons, things like that.

And he says Loki will have "a lean and hungry look, like Cassius in Julius Caesar. Physically, he can't be posing as Thor." (Did you get the impression this movie will be Shakespearean? I can't imagine how.) [IGN]

The Book Of Eli:

Sci Fi Wire visited the set of this post-apocalyptic thriller about a man named Eli (Denzel Washington) who has a world-saving book, and the small-town dictator named Carnegie (Gary Oldman) who wants to take it away. They witnessed the filming of some scenes at the farmhouse of George and Martha (Michael Gambon and Frances de la Tour) an old couple with a big secret.

Apparently, George and Martha's farmhouse is a two-storey dingy gray house, with dead trees encircled by tires. Towards the end of the movie, there's a shootout involving Eli, the old couple, and Solara (Mila Kunis). Eli is inside the farmhouse, and Carnegie is shooting at him to get his hands on the book. Eli tosses a Claymore mine out, which blows up a Cadillac and scatters bad-guy body parts on the lawn. Eli tosses out a second explosive, then Carnegie fires a rocket-powered grenade at the house, blowing part of it up.

Then George runs to a window and shoots his machine gun, killing two guys before he runs out of ammo and ejects his magazine. Carnegie yells "Cease fire! Cease fire!" and then we see Eli and Solara looking out the window. An armored truck backs up towards the house. It opens up in back to reveal sandbags and a man and a woman, seated at a massive gatling gun. Eli hits the floor and pulls Solara down with him, just as the gun tears into the house. [Sci Fi Wire]

Doctor Who:

It wouldn't be Monday without some batshit Who rumors. Someone posts that his/her aunt just recorded a brief scene for David Tennant's final episode, in which she played a Time Lord at some kind of trial. And Timothy Dalton was there! (Let's start a rumor that Dalton is the Valeyard! That would be kind of awesome!)

Meanwhile, there's also a rumor that the show is looking for a male companion to travel alongside Matt Smith and Karen Gillan for five or six episodes in 2010. Supposedly Sam Troughton auditioned for the role and didn't get it — but now it's narrowed down to Dean Kelly (who played Shakespeare in season three) and someone named Liam Boyle. As usual, these are just rumors, and should be taken with several salt mines' worth of grains of salt. [Doctor Who Forum]

Lost:

Matthew Fox (who supposedly knows something about how this show ends) says he's sure Jack will die at some point. But it'll be cool to see where Jack and Locke end up in the final moments of the series. [Lyly Ford]

Dollhouse:

Now that the show's established itself, you'll be seeing the show Joss always wanted to make, says Eliza Dushku. There are stories that the writers didn't get to tell in year one, that you'll be seeing in year two. And Echo may be showing off more specialized fighting techniques, for her different imprints. And she'll be spending more time with former Agent Ballard next season. [E! Online]

V:

A couple more promo pics of this remake of the 1980s classic. [SpoilerTV]

Smallville:

Our first promotional poster for season nine... and it still names Sam Witwer as a regular castmember. An oversight? Or a clue? [OSCK]

Chuck:

There will be some kind of internet presence, like webisodes, between now and when this show comes back in March 2010. (And it may come back sooner, if other stuff falls through.) As we mentioned, a new romantic interest will come between Chuck and Sarah. And there will be new characters, along with all the existing castmembers. Chuck will get more physical. The show's mythology will deepen, and the new season will not lack for romance. [Sci Fi Wire]

Stargate Universe:

The show's fourth episode, "Fire," written by co-creator Brad Wright, has been split into two episodes, "Darkness" and "Light." The episode was tightly plotted, but was running about 20 minutes overlength. And Wright had already cut a ton of scenes at the script stage for fear it would overrun. The expansion means the show's mid-season two parter, "Space" and "Divided," will be episodes 11 and 12 respectively. [Gateworld]

Heroes:

A writer Twittered a picture of the script for the fourth season opener. Apparently it contains scenes with HRG, Angela and faux-Nathan in Japan. Tracy is still at Kent Harper's apartment, and Angela wanders a city street. Also, Claire, HRG and "Annie" are on campus together. [Twitpic via SpoilerTV]

Also, the season opener will feature Prudence, a young girl who's odd-looking and was brought up in the carnival, and Ernie, an old carnie who's on his last legs. [SpoilerTV]

<![CDATA[The Making Of Terminator Salvation's Harvester Attack, Plus Who's In Star Trek 2?]]> Today's spoiler-blast includes a new Terminator Salvation clip and our first Star Trek 2 hints. Plus Land Of The Lost TV spots, and Battlestar Galactica TV movie talk. Plus Lost, Transformers, Heroes and Smallville. Spoiler-alert!

Terminator Salvation:

McG introduces a clip (shown to Pizza Hut customers) which details a Harvester's attack on a trashed 7-Eleven, and shows us how it developed, every step of the way:

About 10 minutes into the movie, there's a scene of rebirth, where Marcus Wright (whom we saw die at the start of the movie) crawls naked out of the mud and screams, under a lightning-blitzed sky. The scream lasts about 13 seconds (although the scream may get tweaked, because it sounds a bit silly) and it signals the start of Marcus' journey, says McG. [Esquire]

Also, Bryce Dallas Howard appeared on Craig Ferguson, and they showed a clip and talked about the movie. [Sarah Connor Society]

Star Trek 2:

We're going to have to figure out if this movie is Star Trek 2 or Star Trek 12. Either way, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman hint that classic characters like Khan could turn up, since they've never met our heroes in this alternate timeline. And they say we'll never have to talk about time travel again, because the time-travel device was destroyed at the end of the first movie. They also hint Leonard Nimoy may never reappear. [MTV]

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen:

Michael Bay posted a couple of pics of himself on this movie's set to his official site. [IESB]

Land Of The Lost:

A couple of TV spots, with some new footage, including Chaka freaking out and Will Ferrell repeating "No immediate danger" over and over.

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan:

Kate Vernon gives a tiny hint as to how Ellen Tigh is portrayed in this new TV movie:

[T]hey've written me with more heart and more compassion, and this intention to bring some enlightenment and peace, and I got to expand a character, just show a deeper side of myself. So you take the core of your character and you just play those circumstances.

[Sci Fi Wire]

Lost:

What's the sacrifice Ben will be asked to make in tonight's episode? Michael Emerson explains: "Ben has sacrificed his leadership and authority [to Locke], but he's also going to be asked to serve someone else's interests, not his own." Oh, and it doesn't sound like Ben dies in the finale. [TV Guide]

Smallville:

Which two characters are dying in tomorrow night's finale? Apparently the top contenders are Cassidy Freeman, Aaron Ashmore, Justin Hartley, Kristin Kreuk and Sam Witwer. (Is Kreuk even in the episode?) And Allison Mack is an outside possibility as well. [E! Online]

And in fact, Mack says she's definitely signed for season nine... but she hints that she may make an "exit" before the already-certain season ten. [IndieWire]

Heroes:

In the first two episodes of season four, we'll be meeting "Young Ando" and his friend "Young Kimiko," both of whom are around 12 years old, give or take. Sounds like Kimiko maybe a couple years older than Ando. Will this be part of the promised time-traveling shenanigans? [SpoilerTV]

<![CDATA[If Star Trek Makes Enough Green, Star Trek 2 Is In The Pipeline]]> Where would Captain Kirk be without his rainbow collection of alien one-night stands? Check out more Star Trek alien pics, and find out when to expect Star Trek 2. (Or 12.)

First off, I am so excited to see that young Spock appears to be saluting his older self. Fantastic. Also the new "unknown alien" is absolutely frightening, in a great way, and now I want to know what those goggles are for. These images are from the Star Trek trading cards. To see the rest, check out MTV, including some detailed looks at the cast.

J.J. Abrams' Star Trek hasn't even released yet, but already Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof have signed up with Paramount to pen the sequel. Smart move, as these writers have formed an unstoppable "Supreme Court" of Trek continuity. According to Variety the crew needs to have the draft done by Christmas, for a summer 2011 release. But Kurtzman told the press he was still waiting to see how the audience reacts to the first reboot movie, before plowing too far ahead. No word if Abrams will direct.

Also ComingSoon has a collection of new character posters up. Here's a few - check out the site for the rest.
