    @GreyHammer: Lucas used up all the "entire planets that are based on specific geographical regions" so it's hard to imagine someone else coming up with something new.

    That being said, it was definitely a homage to Hoth, wampa and all. #startrek

    This book had to be made to keep up the Star Trek book tradition. I remember when I was a kid I had the tech manual and the concordance and used them while watching the series every night on channel 39.
    I still wish one day they would build the Dreadnought.

    @jeremydeananderson003: Agreed. My guess as to why Abrams rebooted Star Trek is because he couldn't reboot Star Wars. So, he tried to make Star Trek as close as he could to Star Wars without making it too obvious. Of course, he failed. #startrek

    @Pope John Peeps II: No this was not directed at the author of the story! Just saying that they keep coming up with more and more every week about the DVD. It was directed towards the industry. So relax. io9 is one of my favorite sites ever. I would never say anything in that manner.

    So forgive me if it seemed that way. Not the case.

    Nothing witty to say, but I'm pretty sure the inspiration came from the same place as it did for this album cover.

    The original photo's from a book entitled Stolen Glances: Lesbians Take Photographs edited by Tessa Boffin and Jean Fraser.
