Okay, I admit that "The Vampire Diaries" is my guilty pleasure for this fall season. And while it is full of angsty teen melodrama (Kevin Williamson after all) I don't find nearly as insipid as "Twilight." At least in this show the vampires, you know, actually kill people or change them into other vampires.

And every time I see the name of that SyFy "Fire and Ice" movie, I'm reminded of how sad it is that we don't have a movie/series based on G.R.R. Martin's awesome epic. At least the first three books anyway. #house

I don't watch CGI sci-fi cartoons to watch the main characters work out their feelings or develop relationships. No, I watch CGI sci-fi cartoons to see big battles and explosions. That's what The Clone Wars is giving us this season. Last season was all talk and I almost didn't watch this season. Ask any Cartoon Network addict below the age of 10 what they thought of episode 4 "Senate Spy" and they won't even remember watching it. Ask them about the Super Tanks in the last episode and they will give you an ear full.

Thats some good news right there. But has anybody seen or mentioned the new Clash of the Titans film!!! Im not sure if io9 has run a feature and ive missed it like an idiot. Or everyone is avoiding the innevitable backlash! Personally I think it looks great, even if it has overtones of 300!!!

turns out the first 2 hours of the prisoner will air on AMC from 6 to 8 PM tonight followed by the new episodes. fortuantly they're running the same gag on tuesday so anyone who wants to watch house at 8, like me, can just watch 4 hours of the prisoner tomorrow night instead. i think i still might record it either way since, in my opinion, the only annoying thing about the show is the constant and repedative commercal interuptions. #house

What struck me about this is how tenuous the relationship between Anakin and Ahsoka has gotten. In the first Ryloth episode, Anakin basically turns the reins of a major operation over to her without hardly any direction, basically saying "I trust you" with a nod and a wink and goes off expecting her to save him after he kamikazes that cruiser. In THIS episode, he won't even let her finish a briefing, and then they stand around yelling at each other a LOT. (It's an inconsistency, but I have to think that it's intentional and not just writers forgetting what they wrote before.) Contrast that to Luminara and Barriss; it's really kind of fascinating.

I love the character of Ahsoka. I think they've come up with a rather awesome warrior (it's like, what happens when a natural predator evolves into a skilled combatant with supernatural powers? This.) and the writers and animators have put some real flourish into her; watch how she fights, it's all creeping and lunging and pouncing. I almost expect to see her with fangs. But I also know that she doesn't make it into ROTS, and more than anything, that's the big question of Clone Wars. Not how Anakin progresses, but what happens to her. #starwarstheclonewars

The better Clone Wars gets, the more annoyed I am at the lameness of the prequels. On the other hand, it's a little disturbing to think that all these plucky apprentices either a) get murdered by Anakin, or b) get fragged by their own troops. #starwarstheclonewars

@cletar: See, this is why Clone Wars really bothers me, as does much of the prequel era stuff Lucasfilms and Co. are churning out.

I cannot, simply cannot root for Anakin Skywalker the way they want me to, knowing full well he will become a traitor, child murderer and the Galaxy's Greatest Monster. And it's cheap and sleazy of them to ask for that in a kid's show. Makes me feel gross. #starwarstheclonewars

@cletar: That scene in AOTC where the Jedi come in to save Anakin/Padme/Obi-Wan from the arena on Geonosis was extremely uncomfortable to watch. That was supposed to be the Jedi at their best... and it was the Jedi their worst.

But, I have to say, Qui-Gon was probably the best thing about the prequels, and he only lasted one movie. It's a shame he couldn't have been a bigger part of the series.

Guss Lucas just wanted to have an old Jedi die like in ANH.

However, it was cool that he gets mentioned in the end, apparently teaching Obi-Wan how to become a ghost. That has to be worth something. #starwarstheclonewars

@octaslash: Yeah it was nice to see them wrap it up, and for him to yell "Anakin" when he's about to go off on the Tuskan village.

The coolest part of the prequels was just seeing how Star Wars univers looked a few decades before Luke Skywalker, that in itself made the prequels worth it.

But the actual acting and the story, just didn't pull it off. I think all three of them have scenes that I really like, some pretty cool characters and action sequences, but they just don't work as individual movies all that well. Which sucks because I was a prequel apologist, but I have to get honest now and say, no, they weren't good FILMS... even though they all looked good, sounded good, and had good sequences here and there.

And now the clone wars is out, I'm just tired of that era. I want to see the OT stuff get the focus again.

The best Star Wars out today, is the Legacy comic book... and that's way the hell after ROTJ.

"I mean, I get that we're not really supposed to think about the fact that the hero of the show turns into a child-murdering galactic dictator too much..." I always got the exact opposite from the episodes of this series that I've seen. That Anakin is going to become a child killing enforcer for a galactic dictator is always supposed to be at the back of the audience's mind. Anakin's story arc is modeled on Greek Tragedy. We know he's on his way to becoming Vader, the entertainment value comes from the constant "No! Anakin don't don't do that!" I also think one of themes running through the Star Wars prequels is that organizations like the Jedi bring about their own destruction when they become lazy, complacent, and overly self-assured. The older, more experienced Jedi either miss or ignore Anakin's wrong headed actions because they get positive results.

Agree, but I think they've always been weary of him any way but they're far more weary of fighting the war at all. They were meant to be space police, not full on soldiers.
