The original reason I imagine had to do with the commanders needing..well..a commanding view of both the sea, their surroundings, and their subordinates. Not applicable to a starship, I adimt, but you know what they say about old habits.

Not that I want to start anything, but I loved the bridge of the NX-01 Enterprise. It looked practical, accessible, and cool.

That said, if the sets fit the story being told, the design won't matter as much. Either will me arguing endlessly in disagreement with it. I haven't heard anything about the film, however, so off to look for more.

1. What's with building an impenetrable moat around your arts centers? Beijing, Norway, Sydney - or in case of Albany's egg - a concrete bunker
2. Nice pics, but can I suggest organizing the galleries a little more succinctly? You seem to have a lot of repetition of some images (The blue Birmingham mall is cool, I get it) and you seem to jump from one place to another and back again...
