    Good article, and excellent tribute. You're right on about what made Stargate (both series) great. I would like to add to our remembrance of hilarity here the discussion of the "remarkably doorlike" portal at the beginning of the Season 2 ep. "Epiphany." For some reason, the MALP on a stick is dear to me.

    The one that still makes me giggle is the one (I think from this past season) where Shepp and Rodney are talking about superheroes and Rodney says something like, "I like to think of myself as Batman." And Ronon responds with, "Yeah, Fatman, maybe." Granted, that's not verbatim, but it basically went something like that.

    My favourite's(another Canadianism there;)) gotta be the one from this season in the Prodigal with McKay & Sheppard racing the RC cars through the corridors of Atlantis and getting busted by Teyla. Good times.

    Agreed on all points, except the "Canada jokes" bit.


    I loved Sheppard explaining hockey ("Don't tell Rodney..."), but I don't consider the Zed-PM bit a "joke". Rodney is Canadian, and that's how we say the letter Z up here. So it's more of a continuity thing than a joke.


    Were there any other good Canuckisms in the show that I missed?

    I found the scenes with the between Novak and Hermiod to be pretty amusing sometimes. The way Novak would be explaining how Hermiod will be angry, and he would just look pissed off already.

    Your forgetting the whole "Oh My god, he IS Kirk!" thing from Series 1 i think? It was an earlier season, anyway, I think any McKay/Sheppard Banter is up for a number 1 spot, as they always managed to keep them parts interesting, even if other aspects dipped below standard.

    @DangerousDac: I love how they kept up Star Trek jokes for a while, like how Beckett was afraid to use the Stargate, like McCoy hated using the transporter. :D

    @papercup mixmaster: Meh. It just hadn't been the same after Season 7, IMO. But we all have our "It should have ended HERE!" moments. My old college roommate won't watch past season 6.
