If a cantina doesn't have Bea Arthur serving the drinks, it's just not a cantina worth entering. #startrek

@GreyHammer: Lucas used up all the "entire planets that are based on specific geographical regions" so it's hard to imagine someone else coming up with something new.

That being said, it was definitely a homage to Hoth, wampa and all. #startrek

Aww you didnt post the one thing from the book I want to see, the actually design of the D-7s they went with.

It was barely on the screen but the book actually shows it in full detail. #startrek

@Jim El: found some images of it

Apparently they went the route of merging the D-5 that was in Enterprise with the old school D-7 making it a hybrid design.

The book actually features all of the ships from the movie too, including the actual layouts of the multi-nacelle fleet. #startrek

@Mingus123: That's actually a pretty neat picture you made. For a second, out of the corner of my eye, I thought it was a picture of the poster painted onto a brick wall.

Which would have been neat advertising. #startrek

This book had to be made to keep up the Star Trek book tradition. I remember when I was a kid I had the tech manual and the concordance and used them while watching the series every night on channel 39.
I still wish one day they would build the Dreadnought.

"Hey let's make Kirk land on a desert planet!"

    "You mean like Tatooine?"

"Hm. Okay. Let's make it an ice planet!"

    "You mean like Hoth?"

    "...shut up."

    This movie sucked.

@jeremydeananderson003: Agreed. My guess as to why Abrams rebooted Star Trek is because he couldn't reboot Star Wars. So, he tried to make Star Trek as close as he could to Star Wars without making it too obvious. Of course, he failed. #startrek

@whormongr: My feeling is, we have a perfectly good Star Wars, namely, episodes 4-6.

We don't need to turn Star Trek into something similar: the sci-fi universe is big enough for both. #startrek

@Pope John Peeps II: No this was not directed at the author of the story! Just saying that they keep coming up with more and more every week about the DVD. It was directed towards the industry. So relax. io9 is one of my favorite sites ever. I would never say anything in that manner.

So forgive me if it seemed that way. Not the case.

    Peace #startrek
