    Does anyone know why the DEATH STAR had to wait until the Yavin moon base cleared the planet to come into range?


    Last time I checked, the DEATH STAR was an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet. Why not just destroy Yavin?


    Yavin destroyed; the Rebel moon base is now in range.

    @OMG! New Year!: The first Death Star's super-laser took several hours to recharge between shots, so it was still quicker to go around Yavin.

    @Dr Wadd: Doc, put yourself in the shoes of your average Rebel pilot.


    Your some whiny farmhand from a backwater planet who joined up for a little excitement and because some spoiled princess promised to put out if you did. You're standing around the entrance, drinking some Tang and looking out at the lush forest, listening to the sounds of Yavin Ewoks humping.


    Then, the planet your moon revolves around EXPLODES!!! No warning. Just ka-FUCKING-boom!!!! There's chunks of planet raining down on your happy little forest. The Ewoks stop humping just long enough to die a horrible death.


    The Empire looks pretty good right about now and the stormtroopers have better uniforms.

    @OMG! Ponies!: Yeah, but the average storm trooper couldn't install a toilet main.


    @Dr Wadd: Couldn't they have just hit the edge of Yavin, and put a little english onto it so it would put the rebel base into the corner pocket, so to speak.

    @_MARVKO_: Yeah and the minute hand could be a clear plastic rod lit by an LED and on the end could be a little disk that looks like Aldaraan.

    @HawaiianActor: @DrFish: Yeah, PopTherapy listed those ship positions at those times, but actually, it does seem to be random. I think each clock is a one-off, so you could probably tell the designer which ships you wanted at which hours.

    @Lassus: Huh. Is it just me, or are the two pictures actually different. It isn't a mirror image, either. The 8 PM Tie Bomber is flanked by different ships in each photo.

    @Lassus: The Star Wars logo is an add on, and you don't have to have it. The artist apparently cuts it out of magazines/ads and seals it on.
