Not to take away from Stephen Hawking, but I remember a TV science series called "Connections" that really made the process of learning exciting to me. Other than James Burke's dated wardrobe (I watched it as a punk kid in the '80s), it was fresh and engaging.

Maybe I am mistaken, but I thought they where the same network, as in History, TLC, Dicrovery and its many incarnations (Discovery ID and Health) and the Military Channel where all owned by Discovery Inc.

History Channel is owned by A&E... which in turn is owned by Disney/ABC, NBC Universal and Hearst.

At first I thought that read Disney Channel, and I was really, really excited for intelligent children's programming. It took a minute for the all-around absurdity of that idea to sink in.

@LovelyHue: I think you're only avenue for intelligent children's programming is PBS. We'll see how long that lasts. With SyFy playing wrestling and CTN adding live action shows, it's only a matter of time before PBS adds Naked News with Jim Lehrer.
