But I am imagining the real life production day; even though they wouldn't have had the couple actually present for filming the kids, I picture the director saying something like, "okay kids, for this scene I want you to rock back and forth like you're in the throes of sexual ecstasy , and make faces like you're about to come!".
Of course when working with kids, parents or guardians have to be present. - "It's okay sweetie, do it for daddy. We need to make that car payment, don't we. "
And that's just waaay more scary than some badly written screenplay.

Yeah, we probably are supposed to imagine that, especially since the female body becomes capable of getting pregnant long before it's capable of carrying the pregnancy to term.

I would hardely count the alien movies as horror. A few OMG POPOUT moments but thats about it. I was refering more the even horizon type films, take a good idea and turn it into a boring gorefest. I mean damn, if shits going that bad off yourself already and be done with it.

If we change "space" for, say, a submarine, it's a monster movie and not necessarily a sci-fi movie. How many things do you need to change to make it a sci-fi but not horror movie?.
EDIT: In space no one can hear your screams.
It doesn't get more horror-y than that, even if you change the alien for demons you get doom, which is more of an action movie.
