Since I was out of town when the original review went up, I feel a need to say this: Transformers: RotF (which stands for Retardation on Totally Full) was the worst steaming pile of crap of a movie I have ever seen. I left early, right around the Jetfire fart jokes.
And I mean this not in a, "I want deep, intellectual movies" kind of way, I mean, even as a "summer movie," it was shit. Horrible jokes, the dynamic pacing of a methed up thrash metal band, and characters so cliched and annoying I could only pray that Decepticons would successfully obliterate them all. And also, the blatant racism.
So... Meredith, you're not in agreement with CJ re: T2, then? Uh oh, I sense a rift in management!
Bay making this SF movie would make sense... if Ryu or Ken were in it, throwing out fireballs that actually did explode on contact. Talk about 1 hit KOs.
From the spoiler above for next week's episode not one damn thing is exciting... it screams "GENERIC COP SHOW" and God knows we've got enough of those.
I've watched the show from the beginning and loved it, but after the break it's gone downhill big time.
I thought LOM was a sci-fi show? Those moments are few and far between.
@DeltaGuy: Well, to be fair, the British LOM had those moments where it seemed like Sam's actions in 1973 were affecting things in 2007 somehow. Like when the gambling parlor guy was torturingh im in his hospital bed, and Sam got the 1973 version of the gambling guy committed. But the US version was hinting at being more science fictional -- until it came back from hiatus and became just kind of boring drek.
I don't remember reading anything about Chow Yun Fat making fun of the movie...the original post said "It definitely looks like Chow had fun making this film," not that he was making fun ot it...a tad different...
skimmed the dbz interview... unfortunately, he's not making fun of the movie. He starts off the interview saying that the manga/anime roshi is kind of old and a perv, so the movie version is more 'family-friendly'. Then they sort of talk about his history with english films/kung fu movies. He moves on and describes roshi's greyed out sunglasses and then grimaces over how he got hurt while jumping down from the second floor. He finally tells the interviewer how he does Tai Ji in real life, so some of the dragonball kamhameha movements weren't so weird. And... that's it.
@viloki9: Yep. I caught just enough of the Mandarin, plus the clips, to tell he seemed to have been having a good time. My Mandarin is super rusty, alas.
@TimMighty: Dude, I'm showing respect with that pic! Plus, it's a scene where Wash and Zoe learn major spoilers about what happened to Miranda. So it fits.
@tetracycloide: One of the more interesting things from BAshcraft's live blog of the screener. The whole thing sounds so much more campy now and I am tempted to watch it. Not in theatres of course, but eventually.
That said, SHE IS NO CHUN-LI. Just as the Asian dude is no Gen. The only way to complete this cycle IMHO are the following:
cast these actors to match these characters:
Drew Carey - Balrog (US)
Vern Troyer - Ken Masters
George Burns (in present state) - E.Honda
Dave Chappelle - Zangief
Bea Arthur - Ryu
Don Vito - Dhalsim
Gary Coleman - Sagat
Gene Hackman - Cammy
Roseanne Barr - Vega
Ron Jeremy (in tights) as M.Bison
Mr. Clean - Blanka
Screech Powers - Guile
Jimmy Carter - Fei Long
"Mean" Gene Oaklund - T. Hawk
Special guest appearance by John Travolta as Dee Jay
Maybe *then* I'll understand the casting. I don't blame Kristen Kreuk at all. Pretty little thing's gotta figure out a way to feed her mouth, and she's holding off on the other option till her gig's up. Until then, I don't necessarily blame the actors.
I blame the C.S.As, The Directors and Producers for what is sure to become a CRAPTACULAR film to compete against the sure to be CRAPFEST "DragonBall Evolution."
Can you say "Coming REAL SOON to DVD and (maybe) Blu-Ray? I'm betting the "donts" on this film. I'm sure others will too.

That's ok. Not everyone can stomach a hot, steaming pile of awesome.

With Bay the line between the one and the other can be very, very thin.

Personally, I have nothing against Kristin Kreuk.
