    Who asked you to watch this? I know for damn sure that _I_ never asked you to watch this. Though, I admit, after reading your "good parts" version of the movie, I have no fear of ever being curious enough to watch it myself.

    I'm pretty sure this was the movie that caused Richard Roeper to querry, "Just how low can one thumb go?" I actually stopped hating the fact that they replaced Siskel with him that day...

    This movie is reviled because it's so closely associated with Scientology, and if there's one thing the internet hates, it's Scientologists.

    If the book were written by anyone else, the movie wouldn't get near the level of hate that it does. Of course, if the book were written by anyone else, Travolta wouldn't have gotten the film made in the first place.

    @Aler: If the book was written by anyone els no one would have ever read it. Complete waste of paper.

    I saw this coming. I mean, what movie can live up to the reputation of being horrible forever? Even that movie Troll 2 will probably seem decent to someone, somewhere, one day.

    Not even drugs, and we're talking serious,pharmaceutical strength LSD, could make watching this movie enjoyable.

    @dingedarmor:
    That's not true, I tell you! I'm pretty sure there are drugs out there that are used to induce artificial comas. That should do it just fine.

    your credibility left when you said you liked this movie. then was confirmed when you said you didn't like braveheart.

    the reason people give this movie so much shit is that its based off of principles in scientology, and was billed as a revolutionary movie by the movement. it was crap. the plotholes so bad they were the size of singularities and the cod pieces.... dear god the cod pieces...

    @GreyHammer: To be fair to Graeme, he's probably just bitter about Braveheart as we were the only two Scotsmen who didn't appear as extras in the damned thing.

    This movie is a complete waste of time in any shape or form. The only reason to watch Battlefield Earth is to see how many times it's laughably bad, and to sate curiosities about the content (and base belief systems) of Scientology.

    There's a whole Battlefield Earth shrine at the L. Ron Hubbard museum in L.A., with a deluge of B.E. product placements. They claim that it's a "defining science-fiction work for the 21st century", but it's nothing more than extemporaneous attempt at writing a political science-fiction airport novel. It fails horribly.

    It should be noted that the L. Ron Hubbard museum also claimed that Hubbard discovered Australia. Like, for the first time, ever.

    @PalinFreeborn: Little known fact: Hubbard also accidentally invented the kangaroo when he discovered the cure for dyslexia.

    @GreyHammer: Not crazy at all. Brilliant enough to make a fortune off bad writing and inventing a religion. Made a lot out of the talents he had.

    @Dr Emilio Lizardo: He was crazy, he just managed to function well enough to spread the crazy and monetize it. I'd say "clever and cunning" rather than brilliant.
