Props for featuring Ultraman. I rented the entire original series from Netflix (old DVD set) and I was surprised how much fun I had. I actually had watched the English dub on TV as a wee tot, and for the DVDs I watched with Japanese audio and subtitles. Since the dub was a pretty faithful translation, the stories were familiar. And as an adult I know that in the episode where Ultraman fights what looks like Godzilla, it actually IS the Godzilla suit (so ... I guess it's a cameo? :)
I've mentioned on here a few weeks ago that I'd be willing to add more straight sci-fi to my Netflix Horror, Exploit, and Cult cinema new release lists if you guys were going to use them, but never go an answer. I'll throw the idea out there again just in case.
As it stands, I've carried those list out to Nov. As titles are added to the NF database, I'll add them. just click to see what's doin': [www.netflix.com]
It's not so much that I try to block out Insurrection as I just . . . forget about it. First Contact was a blast, Nemesis was a train wreck, Insurrection was 103 minutes.
@MrTim: I don't even remember the story of Insurrection or Nemesis, apart from the fact that they were both boring and that the vilain in Nemesis was a lame clone of Picard. I already have Khan, Voyage Home, Search for Spock and First Contact. I don,t need any other Trek movie except maybe for the first one.
@collex: I've only watched each of them once, but I maintain that Insurrection is nowhere near the frnachise-destroying abomination that Nemesis was. Insurrection wasn't that that good, mind you, but it actually had some humanity and decent writing and direction.
@MrTim: I just need to chime in to say how much I love First Contact. I have fun every time I watch it. You're entirely correct in saying it's a blast.
@Wookie1972: I get what your saying but you just can not compare the two shows. I liked Slider but it was kind of "Melodramatic Kitch", whereas Fringe is a "sit on the edge of your seat and nobody talk because I don't want to miss anything" thrill ride in comparison.
Do we know for sure yet if Dollhouse will be using Epitaph One as the theme for the coming season? 'cause if it is, I just can't keep watching the show. It wouldn't be as much fun if it turned into a generic post-apocalyptic thing.
@Kpibca: Joss Whedon has gone on record as stating he considers E1 as cannon, and that various characters from that episode will make appearences in Season 2.
However, events will continue on in the present day (at least for the majority of the episodes), and it's possible that E1 is merely a potential future that can be avoided if Echo makes the correct decisions.
@GreyHammer: It totally is, though: grizzled and ragtag warriors making their way through a dangerous and war-torn world that used to be a great civilization? And the dolls-turned-soldiers just seemed like Whedon's answer to zombies, honestly...maybe I need to give it more of a chance, but I really wasn't into Epitaph 1, not at all. I wish I'd stopped watching after the season finale.
The high-pitched sound making your ears bleed is not Castiel speaking to the Winchester brothers. It is me screaming like a little girl because Fringe is coming back soon.
Billie Piper was supposedly spotted at Neath Abbey wearing a floral dress during the morning session between 8am and noon, but did not return later in the day. (note: this was reported by a tabloid, no pictures are available, and none of the usual set-watchers saw her, so mistaken identity is a definite possibility)
Karen Gillan was seen wearing a blue dressing gown and slippers, and looked "as though she'd been asleep" (she was also photographed wearing a pink skirt and jacket, so this may have been for a morning scene, or just something she used to keep warm during an early morning shoot)
All the filming seemed to be going on in one room of the abbey (with blacked out windows) and there were loads of futuristic props around.
Actor Terrence Hardiman, best known for playing the lead role in children's show The Evil Headmaster, was also on set. Terrance has a long history of playing villians, and was dressed in a black monk's outfit, with a large grandfather clock key hanging from a cord around his kneck. (make of that what you will)
Real SFX, a 3D effects company, was part of the crew and they had green screens in the abbey.
There were also a number of child extras seen on set, and there's some speculation that their clothing could be from the 70's or 80's. (though personally, I think they're just usuing the usual un-branded clothing from SJA)
Dear cast of Twilight, I think you should know that being on a motorcycle does *not* make you look like Tom Cruise and/or make you look cooler. Just giving you a head's up.
Sooo, FRINGE, Orci and Abrams have read a lot of Warren Ellis' comic books and decided to steal his ideas. Hmm? They've read Planetary and Astonishing X-Men by Warren Ellis. Great stories all. But Abrams should at least have the decency to pay Ellis for the work

Summer Glau is doing Dollhouse, and Lena Headey has been cast for the HBO adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire (as Cersei Lannister, HELL YES).

Nothing special, though we do get to see Terrence Hardiman's monk robes, and his mysterious clock key necklace.
