And heres more YARSD (yet another rumoured Superman Director :) ... couldn't they ALL just make a movie and pick the best one? OMG! A Superman movie contest!!! personally I would love to see a Peter Jackson Superman - or del Toro - someone with the imagination AND visual nous to pull off a decent comic book movie.

It would be unlikely Abrams would use the same script. Too much flak and criticisms around that. #superman
@Jeremy Tapsell: great idea! Take it a step further: institute a budget cap and make it a compitition. 100K a picture. Any director who wants to can sign up, pick their crew and they get 1 year to bring their picture to completion. WB then holds a Superman film festival. Everybody wins. #superman
@Jeremy Tapsell: We already know how a Peter Jackson Superman movie would go... It would be three and a half hours long (six in director's cut), be shot from start to finish in quick cuts like a two-minute movie trailer, overuse every dramatic pose possible and impossible to contort Superman into, feature grand panning shots every time he flew, and have every death, no matter how inconsequential, play in slow motion to Enya. #superman
The whole reason Abrams script didn't get made was because it was considered THAT BAD. It's generally considered the first film the internet killed.
Waaaay back when Moriarty over at AICN reviewed the script and the furor it created was intense.
Now if Abrams kept the really fun parts with Superman and Lois (the only highlight of his script) and drops the completely stupid reworking of the mythology of the character then people might get behind it.
Here's the review that killed Superman. [www.aintitcool.com]#superman
@SnehalMarten: Wow, Terry Gilliam doesn't seem the right director for a Superman movie at all. Unless you like your Superman with a heaping helping of whimsy. #superman
@franklinshepard: doesn't sound too bad to me... at least it would be unique!
I want to see Lars Von Trier's Superman, where Supes goes insane with his guilt for being so "superior" and in the end accepts it and decides to fulfil his facist origins by dictating the entire planet. Bjork as Lois Lane - wow, I just imagined how effed up that might be... *_*} #superman
It would be especially attractive to the studios since all he would need is a stage and just have the actor playing Superman wear a name tag with the "S" logo on it. #superman
I'm beginning to anticipate the day when a movie and it's reboot come out on the same day. I'm certain there will be some new phrase for it, like "Pre-boot". Add some marketing handwaving to explain how it's a really good idea because you only have to do one add campaign, and voila, new hollywood trend. #superman
@Dunny0: Good to know that I'm not alone on that conclusion. I mean Supermans origins and such have been rehashed so much and he is story wise flatter than most comic characters so deep emotional story doesn't apply. His greatest strength is his strength and all the powers he has gained in th past 70 years time for him to show it off and kick but on an epic scale.
I wonder why the Wachowskis haven't been mentioned. After catching part of Matrix Reloaded on tv the other day I couldn't help but think that the Wachowskis really wanted to do Superman. #superman
@AngriestGeek: THOU personally would have been better than a land obessed criminal, emo Superman stalker who follows the old tired formula of Clark being only a disguise rather than the true person, egotistical-weak-useless Lois Lane, and simply a rehash plot of first film made 20 yrs ago. Plus a kid and a husband to Lois making a relationship wit. :P lol
Also it was a first draft, and now after reviews they can easily change things now #superman
@Sektos: Just because Superman Returns was lame too doesn't excuse this turd of a script. Krypton doesn't blow up, Kal-El is some prophesied "chosen one" and there are kung fu battles in the sky, showing Abrams clearly saw The Matrix. #superman
@AngriestGeek: Its funny because the fight in Matrix 3 supposably came from JJ's script :) and i found that fight epic. I dont mind Superman knowing how to fight properly, but i agree about Krypton non-exploded. BUT i also hate any Kryptonians alive apart from Clark; and recently in comics theres 100,000 alive now with a new krypton. I dont read comics myself but apartently its going really well.
As for prophecy, well i dont mind that; its something new to the story. #superman
@AngriestGeek: It doesnt have to be christ imagery, which i too am sick of. Whats interesting is fact the character is actually based more on Moses and his weakness to kyrptonite comes from jewish immigrants back in the forties giving up their past lives #superman
@Dirk Anger: Speaking of which, we missed you at our anger management meeting. And you can find the Abrams script online. You've been warned. #superman
He failed by letting Brett Ratner take over for him so he could do Superman, which failed. His last two major projects failed. Why should anyone give a crap about what he wants to do?
I hope Bryan Singer isn't brought back for a new X-Men film. The last thing we need is another declaration of his man-crush on Wolverine.(What I'm saying is, how about a frgging X-Men movie for a change?)

I can't get the '.pdf' direct link to work here so just go that site and browse to "Superman (J.J. Abrams)" for to open up the file on Adobe.

It will actually make you appreciate Superman Returns more than you did or didn't before... #superman

I think Christopher Nolan with a Grant Morrison script could work.
Or how about, Terry Gilliam with a Grant Morrison Script.

Anyways Nolan would probably just turn Superman into a guy who works out a lot.

The only upside is that script would have to be trashed because so much of it relied on Krypton, which WB has now lost. Heh-heh-heh.
