@RavenNemain: I was wondering the same thing. My google search didn't produce many helpful results, but it's being filmed in Vancouver, and Penikett and Vandervoort are both Canadian, so . . . hopefully?
I read the World of Tiers a while back. Is Riverworld in the same, uh, I can't say universe, in the same multiverse as those books?
I like Tahmoh Penikett Smith as much as any other BSG fan but is he going to turn into the next Michael Ironsides?
"Sir Richard Francis Burton (Peter Wingdfield, 24) who has joined forces with Francisco Pizzaro to conquer and destroy Riverworld." Jezuz wept, they've already begun to fuck it up.
@Alessar: Ha! So now Syfy's "original programming" doesn't just consist of adaptations and remakes, but remakes of adaptations they did 6 years ago. Great! It's like watching a snake eat itself. Only, not as entertaining most of the time.
@twophrasebark: That was totally just Internet fanwank. RDM wouldn't have done that. I mean, to even try to get away with that, he'd have to walk into the writers' meeting and say, "The show's not about the plot, it's about the characters."
@twophrasebark: Apparently, there was also some Plan to have the survivors throw all their technology into the Sun. I'm glad that never made it to the finale, for that would have been STUPID.
@Jeyl: Usually it's the male characters dying heroically (or not so heroically) in battle, not not the other way around. BSG did it differently and accusing them of sexism in a roundabout way after a long run of the series creating some very strong and independent female characters I think isn't fair or accurate at all.
@Jeyl: I don't remember there being a great deal many more female deaths than male. I don't say this as a challenge - I'd just like to see a list. I really just don't remember.

Do yourself a favor and read the books and skip this. From the trailer, other than a river they don't seem to have much in common.

Somebody remind me, because I have forgotten: was there a "Dark Tower" in the novels? That rings way too Stephen King to me.

"who's one of the most handsome, sexy and therefore 'compelling' actors on television"
There ya go Charlie. I fixed it to more accurately reflect what you're trying to say.

That's good, because the show's final needed a lot of it's female characters to die. But killing the male characters? NO WAY!
