<![CDATA[The Dark Knight Mashed Up with the Campy Knight of 1966]]> Warner Bros. has been tossing enough promo photos, teaser trailers, viral ads, and movie posters onto the internet to cause a serious glut of Dark Knight materials. Which is where this refreshing slap in the face video comes from. Netizen and part-time editor ntbone has mashed up the sound from the recent trailer for The Dark Knight with clips he's cut together from the 1966 Batman movie, starring Adam West as the caped crusader.

For those of you who haven't seen it, the Joker (who also is the central baddie in the upcoming movie) goes nuts in this film and dehydrates the world leaders at the United Nations, turning them into piles of dust. Luckily, Batman and Robin save the day, but screw things up a bit when they rehydrate everyone: everyone now speaks the wrong language. Hilarity! The dynamic duo then head off, leaving the leaders to deal with the problem on their own.

I'm surprised it's taken someone this long to do a Batman mashup with the old series, but this one made me laugh pretty hard. Especially the "Like me!" shot. I don't know why I'm finding Cesar Romero speaking with Heath Ledger's voice so amusing, but chalk it up to fumes and crossed wires. If someone could make us a some high-quality Heroes, or better yet, Misfits of Science meets meets X-Men mashups, we might be okay with the current state of television.

<![CDATA[Don't Pull A Wanker Star Trek Move]]> J.J. Abrams is tacking the teaser trailer for Star Trek onto the front of his monster movie Cloverfield, which opens in three weeks. The whole thing smells wanky. Does Cloverfield really need any more buzz to get people to go see it? Why not just film a better ending to Abrams' Alias series and tack that on as well, plus throw in some Abrams-helmed Felicity reunion footage in order to make every multiplex a JJ wankfest? Also, to add insult to injury, he's already shown the trailer to his Cloverfield director-buddy Matt Reeves, who can't stop gushing about it.

"I think it's amazing, and it looks pretty incredible" Reeves managed to blurt out while wiping the excess Jergen's lotion from his hands in mid-strokefest. "I was like 'Wow!' Just the scope of it, the scale of it, you just look at it and it's so elegantly done." You mean, you like the thing?

The real question is whether further Cloverfield pre-release frenzy could actually backfire. It has more buzz than Snakes on a Plane, and we know how that turned out. Seems like Abrams is trying to make Star Trek fans go see his movie in an effort to pad the box office. Why not just release the trailer to the nets to the rabid fans who have been speculating about the size and shape of Zachary Quinto's Vulcan ears for months now? Don't make 'em pay for it. Better yet, put it on television during the Super Bowl, or during a very special airing of Andromeda on the Sci Fi Channel. Or you can put it up on the web for all to see. In fact, the phone lines are open here at io9, so give us a jingle. That way it can be seen the way it was meant to be: for free.

Of course, this might all become moot when it hits the webs .05413 seconds after its first showing.

<![CDATA[New Knight Rider Trailer Gives Bad Car]]> Here's a sneak peek at February's upcoming Knight Rider TV movie, all ready to crush your dreams. Why drape that car in a black cloth when it's already been seen all over the interwebs after NBC officially unveiled it at an event they hosted? This is a show about a car, not about a guy who fights bad guys and just happens to use a car, so why not show the goods? The same goods that we've, er... already officially seen?

Is it super-lame once you see it in motion, or did that sentient A.I core in the heart of the car accidentally activate a suck circuit? If you want people to get excited about an upcoming show about a supercar, you'd better damn well show us the car. Now, we could understand the secrecy if no one had any idea what this baby looked like, but c'mon. Is anyone out there going to be surprised when they see this show on TV? "Wha?! A talking Ford Mustang? I had no idea! I thought it was about a jousting competition!"

Plus, that "Hello, Mike" is pretty cringe-inducing. K.I.T.T. would never use a shortened version of a name! Sure, it's Will Arnett voicing the new sleek black car, but that just means we'll never be able to take him seriously. If he ever chimed in on our wrist communicator to tell us that two thugs were sneaking up behind us, we'd keep waiting for the punchline. Even after our brains were bashed in. Believe us, we want this thing to rock, but all signs are pointing to "Turbo Suck." [KnightRiderOnline]
