Don't Close Your Eyes When Listening To Scary Music |

Is the occasional minor chord, bad 80s synth action or a scored recording of babies crying?
How did the scientists even agree on which music was unarguably unsettling?
And isn't it all relative? Sigur Ros sounds desolate to me while millions of others hear hope in it. Cannibal Corpse and Deicide sound cheesy to me while my father seriously (seriously) believes it channels evil. I smile when I listen to Radiohead while my roomate says it makes him want to die.
I think maybe these people were more unsettled by a group of "neuroscientists" telling them to close their eyes and trust them.

Now this begs the question...what defines unsettling music?
I don't know about scientists, but this is a good enough definition for me:

In medieval music, the tri-tone (agumented 4th/diminished 5th) was known as the devil's interval. It wasn't allowed in music because its dissonance was so unsettling. However, in today's music, it is the foundation for al lot of the power chords in rock music.
I think that "scary" music is all in the ear of the beholder.
