This is how I ended up with, like, a dozen flamingo teenie beanie babies; I was trying to get the cat one.
Maybe I'll just go look for left over Cylons. They make good tree ornaments.

Should I have?
It's the ship that made of over 5,000 Legos. Not the local bulk bricks mind you, I'm talking about the custom pieces now. She's got enough pieces for you old man?

So sad. In my day you either understood they were only that fast in the cartoons and commercials or you broke your toys trying. You would never whine about it though.

If there is one thing that League of Extraordinary Gentlemen did right(and that's a huge "if") it was in not whitewashing Nemo. Seriously, the people that made that movie should be raped by yaks for destroying an awesome comic. #20000leaguesunderthesea

Actually, originally, Nemo was to be Polish, and hints of this can still be found in the first novel. Under this plot, his family was murdered by the Russians during the Polish insurrection in the mid 1800's. One clue to the original intent of Verne is a portrait of Tadeusz Kosciuszko aboard the Nautilus: Kosciuszko was a Polish hero who fought against the Russians. Nemo's collection of literature and art also point towards this more European origin.
Verne's publisher though, fearing an outcry from Russian readers, convinced the author to obscure the true details of Nemo's background and the reason for which he fights.
It was later, when Nemo reappeared in 'The Mysterious Island,' that Verne made him an Indian Prince, as the French were currently sympathetic to the plight of the imperially colonized India.
So technically, a white Nemo would be much more true to '20,000 Leagues,' while an Indian Nemo would belong only in a loyal adaptation of 'Mysterious Island.' #20000leaguesunderthesea

20,000 Leagues Under The Sea was the first book I read that made a significant impact on me. It got me into engineering and science (fiction!). Love the book so much... and then to even begin to think that McG might be involved in a movie portraying it...
The same imbecile that brought us Charlie's Angels 2.
Thank you Disney. #20000leaguesunderthesea

Nemo is Latin for "no one"
and in Greek means "I give what is due" Some think that Verne got this from the Scottish motto "nemo me impune lacassit" or "no one provokes me unpublished"
In the sequel "Mysterious Island" Nemo declares he is Prince Dakkar, son of the Raja of Bundelkund and a descendent of Sultan Fateh Ali Tipu. He hates the British Raj and lost his family in the Sepoy Rebellion.

I like your suggestion of ex-Dr Bashir (who, incidentally, played a bond-like character in one of the best episodes of DS9, in my opinion - Our Man Bashir). #20000leaguesunderthesea
