There's another scene in "A New Hope" that I'm sure that I've seen where C3PO gets trapped in the wall on the Corvette. (Very similar to the scene where the computer eats Annie Ross in Superman 3.) It's where he's coming from when he finds R2 and Leia in the corridor. It's in the book, so I'm pretty sure I'm not totally imagining it, but I swear I've seen it before.
Are these real??!! The First clip looks like it should be in a Silent film, and the rest are just weird, they seem to be made of composites of other clips...
@takuhii001: The ones from the first movie are real, taken from an earlier edit of the movie. The audio on the first one is from the Star Wars radio series, however, but since it was also voiced by Hamill it's not so bad.
@Wookie1972: it could be real. the sound was slightly off in the beginning and then the frame freezes...a lot of the other scenes were poorly shot. but you had to figure that was fake
@Illundiel: No, it's definitely fake. The sound is from the radio version, and the video features Luke in Yoda's cave. The lightsaber building scene (which may have never been filmed) took place in Obi Wan's house on Tatooine.
Those first two clips have been the bane of my existance. I knew they existed but every one always said they didn't and said that there was no way I could have seen them in a theatrical release because I wasn't around yet.
I've seen that Jabba clip before and always with the preface that the human actor was just a stand in for an effects shot to be added later, Lucas never intended for Jabba to be depicted as human.
@Bill-Lee: What's really strange is that when Marvel did their adaptation they had no clue what Jabba would look like, so they just used a face off one of the background monsters.
@Bill-Lee: Not only were they red, they were fencing swords, complete with hilts. To the artist's credit, he was working off a few stills rather than a finished movie.
The deleted scene from RotS made me sick. They just saw a colleague of theirs get brutally murdered in front of their eyes and Lucas has them immediately break into cheap visual jokes.
Why does Ten Forward look so small in that Nemesis clip? I realize that the Enterprise E was smaller in terms of crew compliment than D, but that looked no bigger than the retrofitted galley on Voyager.
@EdificeComplex:
It looked the same size because it was the same set, and it wasn't Ten Forward, it was just an officer's lounge. Ten Forward was the size it was because it served three times as many people, on a much larger ship.
Leia and Solo making out was pretty much the only actual sexual expression out of the entire Star Wars Saga (the green slave girl's boob and Leia slave girl outfit doesn't count.) Might have done Lucas a world of good if he added some sex to Star Wars. No wonder they needed clones.
As for Sgt William Candy, I'm glad they cut it. That was pretty stupid especially when Candy sounds like what one would consider the stereotype of a Southern fried idiot.
Oh, and BTW, the audio from the first clip is not from the original, but from the radio play. And the Luke builds a lightsaber clip is a fan edit using also using audio from the radio play - which didn't even have Mark Hamill as Luke! (I checked the original Youtube link and apparently the original poster never intended it as anything but a fan edit)
@Wookie1972: I was just about to start complaining that there was something fishy about that clip. I knew it wasn't Hamill, I knew the footage was from yodas hut, but I just couldn't figure out where the voice and idea came from.
I think its fair to say I've watched these films too many times in my life, but thank you sir for saving me the amount of time it would have taken to find all that out!
Ever since my youth I've never understood why they won't serve Droids in that bar. Are they droidist? They're robots all they do is sit there silently and not drink.
Aaand as I'm writing this I thinking to myself the only way I'd hate a droid that much is if they at one point were a massive army that tried taking over the universe killing everyone in it's path. Could it be that his line about hating droids is a subtle reference to the prequels to come years later? Did Lucas actually have it that thought out? I think that he did NOT!
@Garrison Dean: R.O.A.C.H.: In the Tales of the Mos Eisley Cantina book, which is, of course, far from canon, one story explains that it's the bar owner's personal prejudice. However, Han also showed some droid prejudice in the Brian Daley books. Yeah, I'm a geek.
@Wookie1972: Please tell me more about his prejudice. I really have been curious for a long time. Did a droid steal his bike when he was a kid?
I get the no drinking thing but I don't think that's it. Hell I've been in places where they say you have to buy a minimum but it's the "Their Kind" line that really sells the hatred as opposed to the good business men. Furthermore how discerning can the dude be? Aside from the regular rabble and vagabonds he's got some seriously bad dudes in there. Assassin twins, Some dude with a Death Sentence in multiple systems and an architect having the worst day of his life.
@Garrison Dean: R.O.A.C.H.: According to Wookieepedia, which references the short story, the bartender in question admitted that he liked throwing out droids "because he knew he could offend no one by asking." So it was a personal prejudice rather than a establishment policy.
Also (and I had forgotten bout the end of the story), in the end he learned to love droids when a droid helped him brew a drink using pheremones secreted by the dead Greedo. Yeah, that's pretty messed up.
As for Han, I think it was just that he didn't like machines that talked back.
Some of those are awesome!!! The Terminator one ive seen before. What a crazy ass clip.
Now I know I might turn a few people here....but Watchmen was amazing. I personally cant wait for the super-duper extended edition. This scene was left out and I think its absolutly beautiful and tragic all in the same go!!!
@CoffinDodger (If the typos crap. Blame my keyboard): A lot of "official" postings on YouTube block embedding now because the embedded players code can be exploited to download copies of the video. Disabling embedding also prevents websites like KeepVid from snagging downloadable links.
@CyberSlug Labs: Why have the link there in the first place then??? Its a borrowed code. Nothing more. Rather than blocking safe users who just want to add the link to a safe legit website. Why cant they just find a better way of stopping the downloads!!
Another thing that pissed me off was something so trivial that its worth overlooking once. But hundreds!! Thats just not cricket. I tried to watch an Iron Maiden vid on youtube and it said 'sorry not available in your country'. Im sorry WHAT!! Iron Maiden is british fuckin metal band. I can understand an american vid not playing over here. It happens a lot with ther MTV player and that I can live with. But blocking UK users from watching UK stuff!! Eh!!!????

I always thought it was a nice touch showing the years of partnership and all.
It is admittedly though one of those things (like much of the PT) that was better conceived then executed.

"Which means there's something happening on that system we should know about"

that's exactly the point. droids take up room and don't buy anything.
