We'll give you Aslan just b/c it's Easter, but any other day, we'd demand his replacement by Spock. Who was searched for by a lot of people, not just one kid.

Maybe other people on LOST as well.

But he certainly _will_ come back at some point. With Jason Todd being brought back (when DC promised they'd never do that back when the held the vote for his fate). The only three characters who stay dead in regular continuity are Bruce's parents and Peter's uncle (those three being key to the inception of the two most popular comic book characters ever created). Everyone else just needs to put in their years in Comic Book Purgatory, and then they get to come back.

Another back-from-the-dead sci-fi character not mentioned: Neo, from the Matrix.

Capt Jack most certainly CAN die - in fact he does it many times. He just does not STAY dead.
I imagine (or am I remembering?) Rose saying/thinking some thing like "No No...Jack just CAN'T be dead! He can't!". and Jack was no longer dead.
I also think he must win for the most times dead / reborn - when he was buried alive in the past buy his old lover. Dies, reborn, and instantly start suffocating on the dirt in his lungs. Dies, reborn....... (shudder)

So, here's another post-in-the-making... what are the MOST instances of a particular character alive at the same point-in-time? I imagine Bender would be the most in Bender's Big Score, but.... Captain Jack in 1940 has to be good too...
1) As a con man from the future (around the time of the gas-mask episode...
2) From Torchwood episode "Captain Jack Harkness"....
3) Jack waiting for the Doctor (as part of Torchwood)...
4) Jack frozen by Torchwood...
... am I forgetting any?
Just don't tell Jack... you WON'T want to know what he's thinking...

Everyone knows Buffy died TWICE, once at the end of season 1 and then again at the end of season 5.
Also, I'd say that Aslan isn't sci-fi in any definition, it's fantasy via a detour past religious nonsense.
Neo from the Matrix would be a good addition to the list tho. Can I also add Doc Brown's resurrection at the end of Back to the Future? Thanks kid.
