    Yeah, gimme the 1970s version with the eerie background tape hiss. The conjunction of Tom Baker's goggle-eyed visage vanishing into the time vortex as the theme music kicks into high gear is forever burned into my mind. Even the current theme is light years beyond the unspeakably hideous versions of the 1980s, though.


    I'm pretty sure that Blessed was up to replace Colin Baker after "Trial of a Time Lord," but was passed over for Sylvester McCoy. Oh, what could have been...

    @lightninglouie: Haw HA! Can you imagine how the theme song would sound? Mind you, I'm not overly fond of the current one, too much orchestration. Give me that old-school crunchy bass line and therimin-like melody.

    Isn't that kid from Twilight supposed to be the next doctor? He's so dreamy. *gag* Nah, but in the spirit of an older regeneration...Brian Blessed!! Now that would be different and fun; a big, gruff, shouty Doctor stomping around in a beaver coat bellowing at terrified aliens.

    I can't wait to see this episode, but knowing sci fi, they'll air the christmas special in the middle of the summer--which just isn't right. Is there any "surfthechannel.com" kind of site where us Americans can watch it online after it airs?
