    I think they should change the name. Fallout 3 is a pretty household name by now. It's never a good thing to have the first emotional feedback for your movie to be that of confusion. People get bored of having to make clarifications, and sometimes people even regard name-jacking as a marketing ploy (e.g.: iSomething). #thefallout

    @d_r_e: For some reason the word zero strikes me as wanting to find its way into a new title like New York: City Zero, or Zero City, bah even that sounds stupid. I know, how about Assault On Lord of the Flies Precinct Zero. #thefallout

    I suspect post-apocalyptic survival might depend on sociopathy, so maybe the "hitman" aspect isn't far off. Unfortunately.

    A friend of mine who served in the Marines in Somalia (before the events related in BLACKHAWK DOWN) once remarked that if you want to know what true anarchy is like, you should go to a third world country where the rule of law has completely broken down.

    This article has got me to thinking about the role of sociopathy, how it may have evolved from a survival trait (when we were each on our own) to an anti-survival trait (when we formed social groups). And about how that may explain some of the claims that about 10% of the population would be diagnosed as sociopaths: it's something buried very deep within us. And how events like Katrina suggest that civilization is a fragile, thin veneer. And it's got me to want to read BLIND SIGHT all over again.

    Disclaimer: I'm totally out of my area of expertise here. And for all I know, _I_ would be diagnosed as a sociopath. (Neither Mrs. Overclock nor the cats seem to think so, though.) #thefallout

    @Chip Overclock: Interesting train of thought, but we were never really on our own. We always lived in some sort of family group. But maybe it is some other survival trait. But like you, I am just guessing. Interesting to think about though. #thefallout

    @Chip Overclock: I've always thought sociopathy was more a transmutation of a beneficial trait into a harmful one.

    It's not that hatred of society was ever a truly beneficial trait, but that traits like aggression, self-sufficiency, etc were once helpful but are denied their full realization through inclusion in society.

    Edit: I, also, am no expert in this field. However, that is the norm on the internet - particularly when commenting on a subject outside of the main gist of a site.

    @Zyg: but don't feral children eventually grow into feral adults? I've never bought the idea that wild children would kill off adults, either because adults can usually muster more power and control, or that when the wild-kid-leader grows up, he's not going quietly and will employ his long-term wild-kid allies to stay in power. #thefallout

    @Althestane: Most feral children don't live very long. In this country they have (limited) access to food and safe drinking water and medical attention, and still their life span is pretty short. In 3rd world countries they don't even have that, plus they may be drafted as child soldiers or sold into slavery. In Brazil, cops used to (and may still do) use street children as target practice.

    Right up to the age of sanitation & indoor plumbing, mass production of food, and mass vaccination the mortality rate for children was 40% by age 15 years. (Most people were actually considered adults by age 13). #thefallout
