Not quite never reprinted (what, never? Well, hardly ever.).

Winston Engle revived Thrilling Wonder Stories in 2007, and put out one anthology, comprising both reprints and new stories. He reprinted "The Portable Star" with the comment that he didn't want to just reprise the stuff people have seen over and over again.

Hmmm-- I've got a couple of contributors' copies... wonder what they'd be worth on e-bay??

Having read the story in my youth, I can honestly say I was not enamored of it, mainly because I lacked sexual sophistication. I'd love to re-read it now.

This would actually be amusing to read-- how long is it until this ends up in the public domain and can be posted online as an e-text?

Asimov was a decade or so too early with that story.

    It could have been called:

Holden and Grace and Philip and Celestine

    Behind the Airlock Door

    I am Curious, Alien
