I think my wife has that Geonosian zombie infection. She hates the cold, nobody has any clue what she is saying most of the time and she frequently acts erratic or aggressively. At least towards me. And no, I'm sure that has nothing to do with posts like these.

I feel like this isn't the first time io9 has posted the Chuck clip. Not that I'm complaining - all Chuck is good Chuck, and the more Chuck the better.
@evildead1971: @Lassus: It's been awhile since I saw these episodes so bear with me.She was in Ep: Our Mrs Reynolds & Trash. She was a con-artist but doesn't she also seduce members of the crew to get what she wants? I couldn't find the script casting online, but I found this on Wiki: According to Serenity crew member and Companion Inara Serra, Saffron has had some Companion training. This organization of legal, high-society courtesans appears to provide its members with psychological education to enable them to establish more than a merely sexual relationship with their clients. Saffron uses these skills to help her seduce her marks, even attempting to seduce Inara herself....Sounds like a hooker to me? imho.
P.S. I just really wanted to get that picture on io9 you know...yeah, you know :)
wow. i'm actually excited about this. and you're right, the editor and sound designer are probably the two heavy unsung heroes of the industry. everything from the pacing of a performance, to the emotional impact of a scene or anticipation of an action in large (LARGE) part, is due to the skills of the picture editor and the sound designer. a good editor can make an actor's mediocre performance pretty decent, i've seen it time and time again.
I have always wondered why more directors, who often begin as and/or continue from time to time to act as cinematographers or camera operators, do not more often (i) come from the ranks of editors and/or (ii) learn to edit so that, even without "final cut" rights, they can make some contribution/suggestion regarding the shape of the ultimate product.
@Rasselas: Mostly, I suspect, because of the difference between production and post-production. The cinematographer is there, on set, during production, while the editor is, frequently, not there. You pick up a lot from being on-set, including the contacts you need to get the director's chair later.
@Rasselas: It's a good question. As an editor myself, I think it's largely because there is a real difference in temperament and lifestyle between on-set production folks and post-production folks. Would you rather have an 18 hour day on your feet on a set, or an 18 hour day in front of a computer in a dark room.
@Rasselas: Well, my professor insists that "the best directors are editors." I will plead the fifth on that count, but I will say that knowing editing changes the way I do everything from writing to directing to script supervising.
I think a lot of directors do learn at least the basics of editing, or at least have a good grasp of it. That is my sense of it anyway, that while they might not understand the intricacies they do understand the more abstract things like how to cut for rhythm and pacing.
According to my professor, directors do usually get first cut, so they do contribute to the shape of the film, but often the role of the editor is to have an objective viewpoint and see the footage with new eyes, because the director has so much invested that they might have trouble really pushing back from the table and doing what's bests for the film.
Interesting point: Walter Murch also directed Return to Oz.
@jbq: Agreed. Where the heck is Martha... or Gwen Cooper for that matter, if you have Jack? I could understand it if they weren't going to be on Earth, what with Jack going all Hitchhiker's Guide and all, but they're going to be on Earth, int he UK... she should make a cameo too, like the last season end!
I know a lot of people are tired of Rose and don't like her. But I really liked her. She was inquisitive and up for any adventure and sort of a nobody, just a shop girl. I could really relate to that. If given the chance I would be right there dragging the Doctor through space and time to see every thing I could.
I didn't like Donna because she just seemed to whine too much.
SPOILER ALERT: Here's a recently updated list of who's supposed to be writing what during Season 5 of Doctor Who, along with a few highly spoilery episode titles.
Keep in mind, these are working titles only, and based solely on information found in a couple of actor's CV's.
@bluehinter: Oh, and for those keeping count, it looks like our TARDIS travel itinerary for next season is:
Present day Earth, alien planet with time monks, WWI with daleks, alien planet with weeping angels, 1580 Venice with vampires, ??? (possibly TARDIS-centric story), post global warming future with Silurians, 1880's with Van Gogh, ???, ??? (but likely present day Earth)
Looks like we're getting a pretty decent assortment next year, with lots of historical adventures and only a couple set during the present day.
@Kishi: Yeah, I'm not 100% sure how the Cybermen rumors got started.
It seems to be coming from a fellow with a hit and miss record when it comes to spoilers, but another individual (who generally knows far more than he's telling) said, "He's kind of right, but in some aspects WAY off."
That's led to much speculation that it may be Mondas Cybermen, Cybermen controlled by something else, or perhaps humans who are trying to use cyber-technology for their own ends.
@martin.blackmore: For a long time there were rumors that the second episode was one that took place entirely in the TARDIS, and concerned weird simian aliens that the Doctor had previously trapped, but broke loose during the TARDIS's "regeneration"
This now appears to be false, or perhaps shifted to a later slot in the season.
Waters of Mars was awesome, and it makes the wait for The End of Time even that much more unbearable. I am taking the stance of absolute hatred for the eleventh Doctor until I see the first episode because David Tennant is just so good. Hopefully his departure from Dr. Who will give him time to do other movies because the only one I recall seeing him in is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
@Makidian: Easter Island (Matt Smith) might not be so bad, but it will be hard to top DT's run. I have a lot of faith in Steven Moffat, so hopefully he saw something in Matt Smith the rest of us just haven't seen yet.
@Nicolarz: I think I hate his hair more than anything else
@shrynx: I went over to imdb after I posted this comment to see what he would be doing and saw this and looked it up. It sounds very promising but they must let him keep his accent, either hi natural or Who but if the American him up the show will fail.
@cooliehawk: I know can't wait to see what he does with it. Ever see Hamlet 2, that movie was fucking weird but funny.
