@crashedpc : ゴキブリ and 蟑螂 division: I'm actually quite a fan of Tim Lebbon's 'Dawn' and 'Dusk'. His 'Fallen' in the same setting was pretty darn good, too.
I bet there's an entire Triviagasm article waiting to be written about individuals who ride out the apocalypse in their favorite dive bar.
Personally, my favorite is "Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse," where the world is frequently overrun with cthulhoid tentacled terrors, and the gateway to other dimensions is located inside a seedy strip club run by a bunch of immortal strippers with a taste for deadly body art.
@bluehinter: Arthur and Ford went to a bar before the Vogons destroyed the Earth in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy too, in both the novel and the film.
@Letao: Don't forget, you've also got the Resaurant at the End of the Universe.
I mean, honestly, it doesn't get more apocalyptic than that!!! (Mind you, none of the patrons are in any real danger, but then again, if you've done six impossible things this morning, why not round it off with breakfast at Milliway's?)
There's also 'Platform One' in the Doctor Who episode "The End of the World", where aliens from around the galaxy hang around and party while the Earth is finally allowed to fall into the sun.
