    Unless this is a vacuum toilet, this fails for me. It makes sense if it uses the steam built pressure to suck the number 1 and 2 away, but if that's not the purpose then it fails in many ways. You should not steampunk just b/c you can.

    A Clockwork Dump

    Never really understand the fascination of romanticizing old technology. It wasn't really all that good in the first place otherwise we'd still be using it.

    @ManchuCandidate: Although, really, the toilet is one piece of technology that hasn't changed all that much since its invention. It's just water-pressure and valves.

    On the other hand, I can see (for some things) liking the steampunk aesthetic. For instance, I have this keyboard that I type on, and I would definitely like something that felt substantial under my hands, for when I get the apoplexy.

    @ManchuCandidate: i don't belive stempunk or teslapunk or whatever the crazy kids are calling it these days is romanticising old technology nearly as much as it is a romanticising of a bygone eras ideas of what the future would look like. cyberpunk is very much the same thing only the era is the 80's and 90's. the fallout series is another excellent example of a the future world rendered through the eyes of the sci-fi of the 50's and 60's. someday, in 20-30 years, i imagine there will be conventions for FTLpunk or holopunk about the current generations ideas of what the future would look like.

    @crashedpc - unrein: no. cappuccinos are made out of espresso and milk.

    there is no word for an espresso made with steam instead of pressurized hot water other than 'burnt' or possibly 'abomination.'

    @ManchuCandidate:
    Nah, that's not really true - sometimes the technology in common use today is inferior to older tech.

    No commonly available modern desk telephone is nearly as good as a push-button Western Electric rental instrument from the '70s, for example.

    I'm a fan of the market, but it doesn't always provide the best possible products.

    That's because you're using the wrong tap. Try the one labelled "water". The other one just gives you super-concentrated pee.
