    Unless he gets hired as a security guard, Michael Bay needs to be banned from going anywhere near a movie studio. Bryan Singer doesn't need to direct another movie. He needs to be hired to work on other people's movies so he can direct the 20 minute monologues in which the leaders of teams of heroes explain each and every hero's powers and abilities. McG needs to start using a more professional sounding name. I don't care if it was a family nickname, I can't take any professional seriously when their professional name sounds like something you would order at a McDonald's run by "gangstas". Christopher Nolan should direct Batman movies for the rest of his career and I don't care what anyone has to say about moral ambiguity and the nihilistic Joker. Those were the best elements in Nolan's Batman movies. JJ Abrams can reboot any franchise he wants...as soon as he learns not to use lens flares in every scene. I'm actually kind of ambivalent about Orci and Kurtzman. They need to go to psychologists to deal with their daddy issues and stop foisting them on the audience.

    Does anyone else think we live in an alternate dimension where we actually got all the wacky director choices? There's gotta be someone on Earth-392 thinking "How could anyone but Wes Anderson direct Battlestar Galactica? And if Kevin Smith didn't do Lord of the Rings, how would you get that hilarious banter when Saruman and Sauron make fun of Wormtounge?" #transformers

    I'm a skeptic by nature, but I'm also in the 'better safe than sorry camp, so I tend to side with the environmentalists on this. That said, I do find it interesting that many religious right whackos are starting to jump on the global warming bandwagon. If that's not a good indicator that there's problems with the science, then I don't know what is. #ecology

    There is no scientific consensus on global warming. "Fire burns", consensus. Man-made global warming (or climate change as you guys are calling it now just in case things get cooler), no consensus.

    "Political science" isn't meant to be taken literally.

    @cylon_conspiracy: this is the very problem with the concept of the singularity; noise on the grid. How do we teach a computer, or more importantly, how does it teach itself what is the most accurate information? Garbage in, Garbage out. The singularity will lead us to doom if the "final solution" has incorrect data. The main problem of the internet age is that with a million voices screaming nonsense the voices of truth get drowned out. this will only get worse, as our capability to process data increases. data must be interpreted by humans, that is where the promise of the singularity is hollow, it still relies on human judgement, which is fallible. #ecology

    If the numbers hold up over the next few weeks it will create an interesting situation. If the viewers come back the networks will feel they can get away with anything. Long hiatuses for cable shows (BSG, Sopranos) will confirm this.

    If it tanks on return, what will they think? Unfortunately, I doubt that their egos will allow them to learn. they will either blame unfaithful viewers or a drop off in the shows quality.

    I can even see them moving it to another time slot - either to compete with something or as a tent pole which would further confuse the issue. #v
