I am no real scientist but to me it does not take a lot of intelligence to realize if you keep putting trash somewhere it will effect the area.
Just keep putting pollution into the air and it will do something bad.
Yes the Earth does go thru climate cycles and we all know that one but greenhouse gasses do bring as temperature up and that one is proved in labs.
As far as I think nowadays I will go on record as stating that Global Warming is due to both the natural Earth Climate along with us polluting the air. Both things are happening and both are casuing climate issues. #ecology

"We have decades to figure out ways to deal with it: to find carbon-free sources of energy, to develop techniques for removing carbon from the atmosphere or geoengineering the climate, or simply to adapt."

We have decades? Where's the evidence for that? Moreover, if it boils down to adapting, I'd like to remind Mr. Tierney that species do NOT adapt to significant changes to the environment in a matter of decades, not even us oh-mighty humans. #ecology

@Roklimber: And adaptation usually requires the weak to die out. That's how evolution works. As humans, we want everyone to live, not just the best adapted. #ecology

This book had to be made to keep up the Star Trek book tradition. I remember when I was a kid I had the tech manual and the concordance and used them while watching the series every night on channel 39.
I still wish one day they would build the Dreadnought.

Ya know what I love? The whole "Global Warming Denier" BS line, like it's actual scientific fact and not a theory based on some computer models. As for a scientific consensus, when did we reach that again, exactly, because last time I checked there were over 30,000 reputable scientists who disagreed with the man-made global warming theory. You can't make a film that presents a theory and weak evidence, claim "the debate is over," then put your fingers in your ears and go "la la la la la la la" when other people attempt to debate you.

If the science can't stand up to scrutiny, then it's crap science and should be publicly questioned. The real problem are the people that treat Global Warming like it is some kind of religion, attacking anyone who happens to disagree with said religion. Science attacks the argument, not the person behind the argument, and by failing to do this the pro-global warming crowd surrenders any sort of legitimacy. As far as I'm concerned, the only legitimate pro global warming advocate is Ed Bagely Jr., who actually walks the walk, and isn't trying to make others feel like garbage for living their lives in the mainstream so they'll go buy the solar panels and carbon credits they somewhat secretly have a financial stake in. Yes Al, I'm talking about you, ya empty suit with daddy issues.

So anyway, if you want to be adult and scientific about the whole thing, hows about calling them the anti-global warming crowd, instead of this PR spin Denier garbage? Science is a debate, not a religion, so lets not blur the lines here ok? #ecology

@Cash907Censored: There's plenty of scientific consensus. At this point, climate change deniers rank with people who think the LHC is going to create a black hole and destroy the planet on the credibility scale. #ecology

I'm a bit busy at the moment to read the entire article, but a quick scan led my eyes to this paragraph:

"In a column on Obama's science advisor, John Holdren, Tierney spends most of the column quoting Roger Pielke, a climate researcher who's been one of the most vocal critics of the idea that the polar ice caps are melting."

For those who do not think the polar ice caps are melting at an astonishing rate, watch this time-lapse video of them doing just that:

So forgive me if it seemed that way. Not the case.
