The Asylum crew have really outdone themselves this time, and managed to make shaky cam look cheap.

The concept is pretty much the same — there's a mysterious murder and a left-over tape. You know the drill. The best part is, they're actually going through with the "It's not fake, but you know, we know, you know" hooey. Check out the "description" from the site.

There's been some comment on the internet about our release called PARANORMAL ENTITY and why is hasn't been posted on our website until now.

This has been a sensitive issue for all of us:

A few weeks ago we were approached by surviving members of the Finley family who asked us to release never-before-seen home video footage shot by Thomas Finley, who was accused of murdering his sister, Samantha (pictured) in 2008, and who later took his own life in prison.

The family has always maintained that Thom was innocent of the crime and that Samantha's tragic death was not caused by anything human.

Released onto DVD Dec. 22nd.

<![CDATA[Lucas Brings Back The Secret Apprentice, But How? Plus New Star Trek MMO Trailer]]> The Secret Apprentice, Starkiller, is back, but we have no idea how. If it's because of love, we may have to unleash the Force on LucasArts. Also, check out the latest trailer and news from Star Trek Online. Spoilers below.

This trailer was released at the Spike TV Video Game Awards, revealing that there will be a Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2, canon be damned...

How the hell is he still alive? There were two options at the end of the game: death, or life as a half-robot half-creature thing, Sith Stalker, pictured here....

Not that we are complaining, Sam Witwer's Secret Apprentice rage and scowl are the things dreams are made of 00 but no thanks to the robot head and claw hands. This just doesn't work, or make sense. We liked the dark endings that tied up this character's fate with existing canon. Please do explain, LucasArts. More Force Unleashed concept art here.

But other spacey gaming news, we've got a new trailer from Star Trek Online, which also announced today that Zachary Quinto would be lending the game his voice! Here's the new Klingon-heavy trailer:

<![CDATA[Naked, Bald Werewolf Gals Have Our Full Attention Also, ZEBRAMAN]]> There's a new mysterious werewolf movie on the rise, plus the latest trailer for The Crazies remake is out, making us question just how we feel about this remake: Is it CRAZY enough? And how much crazy is too crazy?

13 HRS
Quiet Earth pointed out this interesting little film called 13 HRS, which is not your average slasher flick. Instead it's a naked werewolf people slasher flick, which I think we can all agree is an upgrade.

Synopsis:

A full moon hangs in the night sky and lightning streaks across dark storm clouds. Sarah Tyler returns to her troubled family home in the isolated countryside, for a much put-off visit. As the storm rages on, Sarah, her family and friends shore up for the night, cut off from the outside world. But something comes out of the driving rain and darkness. Something that holds a dark secret so devastating that, in one night, it could wipe out the entire family.

Trapped, Sarah and her brothers and friends must use their heads as well as their physical strength to survive not only the thing that is hunting them down one by one - but their own entrapment as the besieged group turns in on itself. Can they survive the horror stalking them? Or is their enemy already amongst them and has it always been? Can they survive for 13 hours?

The Crazies
So here's the latest trailer for the George Romero remake of The Crazies... I'm not so sure how I feel about it now. The last trailer held much more promise. Thoughts opinions? Is this another film we should throw on the fiery pile of YARM?

Zebraman 2
Last, but certainly not least, Twitch has a few stills from Takashi Miike and Sho Aikawa on the set of Zebraman 2, and they are not screwing around. What, you've never heard of Zebraman? Well, here's the trailer for the first film...

And here are the new set pics,

The first film is about a man, Shinichi, who finds solace from his miserable life in the costume of Zebraman, and eventually he has to actually become the superhero and save the world. As you can see the costume has been upgraded. I'm excited to see where this is going. For more pics, check out Twitch.

Just in case you are unfamiliar with the Uncanny Valley, we've added the 30 Rock Clip which expertly illustrates this phenomenon.

<![CDATA[Cabin Fever 2 Picks Up Right Where It Left Off, At Prom]]> The trailer for Cabin Fever's sequel is finally out, which means we'll all know what happened with the fancy bottled water factory that was shipping out the flesh eating disease to the rest of the world.

It looks much campier then Eli Roth's original, which could be either a bad or a good thing, depending on whether it actually ends up being funny. The first film managed to balance horror and hilarity pretty well, so here's hoping.. Either way it's nice to see Rider Strong again. Cabin Fever 2 will be out on DVD and Blu-Ray February 16, 2010.

<![CDATA[Flight of the Conchords And Always Sunny Get Into The Scifi Indie Biz]]> There's a whole heap of cult fodder for you this week, including the new Black Lightning trailer, a disturbing new Telepathy trailer, our favorite TV comics getting into the scifi business and more flying babies.

First up, I wanted to add an impromtu "steal this pitch" to all you indie filmmakers and fans out there. This week on It's Always Sunny, the gang pitched what could be possibly the best independent film ever. Please make "Crime Stinks: The Smell of Penetration" happen!

Diagnosis Death:
This supernatural horror flick is made up of all our favorite Flight of the Conchords characters, including Murray. It's a mix of shock and laughs, but from the look of this new clip, it's mostly laughs. The DVD will be out December 29th.

Plus Bloody Disgusting has a clip, below, where Murray makes a cameo!

A supernatural force brings together two lost souls undergoing radical treatment at an experimental drug-testing facility, but when the facility is locked down for the weekend and the drugs take effect, the human guinea pigs experience sinister hallucinations pointing to a horrific double murder.

Unsure of where reality stops, the apparitions become more and more threatening until the only way to leave the facility alive is to solve this haunting secret.

Black Lightning:
Timur Bekmambetov's latest trailer for his high flying car adventure movie is geared towards the ladies! Check out this slick new chitty-chitty-bang-bang that helps seduce the womens. Plus a translated older trailer.

And, because I know a few of you were asking, here's the older Black Lightning trailer with subtitles:

Telepathy:
Quiet Earth pointed out Lesley Manning latest endeavor, and just the description gives us chills...

A pair of identical twins are separated by Russian scientists to determine if they can communicate with each other while one is kept on earth and the other is launched into space.

As someone who firmly believed she had a twin and was switched at birth, much to the dismay of her parents, this movie freaks me out. You may remember Manning from the fake series that tricked a few souls titled Ghostwatch. Well she and her Ghostwatch buddy Stephen Volk, came up with this script and it's staring Kevin McKidd as the twins. I'm already sold, enjoy.

IEP:
It wouldn't be a Cult weekend without a child with wings. Check out the full trailer for the Dutch film, IEP, the story about a little baby bird girl who was taken in by a kindly old couple. But when she gets older, she tries to fly South for the winter, oh uh! Do not miss this, the baby bird puppet is hilarious, and the little girl is adorable.

<![CDATA[New Tween Drama Teaches Us That Tattoos Are For Ugly People]]> This is the most ridiculous movie we've ever heard of: It's got an Olsen playing a freaky Goth, a blind Neil Patrick Harris and magic! It's Beastly, and it's laughable. Also see the worst job interview, and more flying babies.

Beastly
A rich socialite is super mean to his classmates, calling them ugly and so forth, and you know words hurt. But when he picks on the BIGGEST freak - the Goth girl Kendra, played by THE Mary-Kate Olsen - she turns him ugly. Because, as we all know, Goths have magical powers. Kendra turns the brat into everything he despises, which appears to be Nero from J.J. Abrams' Star Trek. Then he's banished to Brooklyn (yeah I know) and is taken in by blind tutor Neil Patrick Harris and a house keeper named LisaGay Hamilton. Forced to live in the horrible dreck that is Brooklyn, what with its fancy restaurants, organic markets, and boutiques, he encounters a drug addict and convinces him to let his daughter live with him, who is Vanessa Hudgens. And boom, Beauty and The Beast with a horrible twist is born. Sorry guys... Your Beast's ugly can't hold a candle to Mary-Kate's get up here...

Trailer

The Exam
The new trailer for The Exam is out, and it's kind of like Battle Royale meets a job interview. It's pretty intense and marries the idea of what happens to people when left to their own devices, and one of the Saws. Check it out.

Eight talented candidates have reached the final stage of selection to join the ranks of a mysterious and powerful corporation. Entering a windowless room, an Invigilator gives them eighty minutes to answer one simple question. He outlines three rules they must obey or be disqualified: don't talk to him or the armed guard by the door, don't spoil their papers and don't leave the room. He starts the clock and leaves.

The candidates turn over their question papers, only to find they're completely blank...

Ricky
Flying babies are taking over. Last week, we had a bird-armed toddler, and this week it's a winged baby. His name is Ricky and he is adorable. The director is François Ozon, and if it doesn't warm your heart you have a cold soul.

<![CDATA[Bird Arm Babies, Nic Cage's Mighty Sword And El Eternauta Footage]]> We've got a grab-bag of crazy for you this week. First up is a look at the test footage of the movie adaptation of graphic novel El Eternauta, complete with poison snow. Plus creepy flying kids and Nic Cage.

El Eternauta
Last year, we found out that 1950s graphic novel by Héctor Germán Oesterheld, El Eternauta was being turned into a film. The book begins with a poison snow blanketing Buenos Aires, killing most people beside our hero Juan Salvo, aka El Eternauta. Jaun dons a scuba suit and heads out to fight our alien invaders and save what's left of the human race. It's being directed by Lucrecia Martel and a little bit of footage is now out:

Meanwhile, Quiet Earth found this fanmade trailer, and like they say, it kind of beats the test footage. But let us remember this is merely TEST footage. I have high hopes for this poison snow alien picture. Even if it's merely to see a scuba suit hero.

Eep
Twitch brought our attention to this horrifying creation. Look, I may be jaded, but if I saw someone with bird arms flying around, my knee jerk reaction would be to shoot it down. It's HEADED RIGHT FOR US! This film is Dutch/Belgian and called iep or Eep! The premise is about a couple who has a baby with bird arms, and instead of smashing it with a rock, they let it grow. But when it gets older it tries to fly South, and calamity ensues.

SUCK
SUCK came out at TIFF, and damn it all if l don't love it. How can you not? It's got Iggy Pop telling you the two most important things in the world: "Always wear a condom and never trust a goddamn vampire." Plus, it's also got Moby dressed up like the biker from YMCA, Henry Rollins and Alice Cooper. I'm not sure how old this is, but here's a new music video from the video I stumbled upon. If you think it's as hilarious as I do check out the clip with Malcolm McDowell and Dave Foley.

Season of The Witch
I know, I know it's not really in our wheelhouse, but giant dragons couldn't stop me from posting an update about Nic Cage's sword fighting film. It's Nic Cage versus MAGIC and zombie monks and apparently leprosy. Coming out March 19th, 2010.

<![CDATA[Uma Thurman's Medusa Weave Unleashed — Is This The Next Harry Potter?]]> With angels and gods on the rise, it's only a matter of time before Chris Columbus' film adaptation of The Lightning Thief becomes your kids' next deranged obsession. This could well be the next Potter, especially with a Uma Medusa.

The movie, which is based on a YA series about gods and their demigod kids centers around Percy Jackson, here's the official synopsis:

Trouble-prone teen Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out school but that's the least of his problems. The gods of Mount Olympus and assorted monsters seem to have walked out of the pages of Percys Greek mythology texts and into his life

With Legion and the winged teen series Hush, Hush and Fallen on the rise, we're predicting big things for The Lightning Thief. Lightning Thief will be in theaters Feb. 12 2010.

<![CDATA[Daybreakers' PSA Reminds Vampires: Turn In Any Humans You See]]> Here's a nice little video reminder from Bromley Marks Pharmaceuticals — who are trying their best to keep humans alive, to feed the dying vampire species from our dystopian future. Check out the latest Daybreakers video!

As a reminder, here's the full trailer for Ethan Hawk and Willem Dafoe's futuristic vampire thriller, Daybreakers.

Here's the official synopsis:

Ethan Hawke plays Edward Dalton, a researcher in the year 2019, in which an unknown plague has transformed the world's population into vampires. As the human population nears extinction, vampires must capture and farm every remaining human, or find a blood substitute before time runs out. However, a covert group of vampires makes a remarkable discovery, one which has the power to save the human race.

I can not wait for more of the "blood jerk" vampire girl — it's amazing to think vampires could be edgy once again. Daybreakers will be in theaters January 8th, 2010.

Real-life Observers will be out and about this week in the previously mentioned cities, looking creepy and handing out Tabasco sauce.
