    @CodenameV: Technically this is a post about tokusatsu [[en.wikipedia.org]], which basically means "live action TV with fancy special effects" and usually with super heroes. It covers shows like Kamen Rider, Super Sentai (the fodder out of which Power Rangers shows are made), Ultraman, as well as live-action versions of anime and manga and monster movies like Godzilla. #ultraman

    @CodenameV: I'm sure if Gawker Media wanted to, they could do an entire anime/J-culture blog similar to their other blogs. Just one hop to AnimeNewsNetwork every day lets one see exactly how much material is out there on a daily basis. But with the anime market down as much as it is, would it be profitable for Gawker? Probably not. #ultraman

    @Allen_Richards: I meant actually reporting on anime thats in the news; most of the time it gets skipped
    and you should know that ANN is more of a collection of news blurbs than analysis.
    ...now that Death Note and Code Geass have already finished I'm not quite as upset, but still no talk of "Monster"? #ultraman

    Based on that picture, should we jump to the conclusion that Bush Jr. will be voicing the baddie? Some Japanese are still pissed at that whole Hiroshima thing, and I'm sure an Ultraman King delivering a smackdown to a big-eared badguy would go over like gangbusters. #ultraman

    A couple of years ago my wife's grandmother passed away in Fukuoka Japan and we traveled there for the funeral. While staying there I found out that about an hour away was Ultraman Land! An Ultra Man themed Amusement Park! I was dying to go but we just didn't have the time. Next time we go visit my wife's family there we are going for sure.

    You know, the wife and I were half-watching the SciFi Channel once and a commercial came on for the Saturday SciFi movie, were they spliced together the best from every movie thus far. Didn't catch that fact at first and we were both gobsmacked by the possibility of the greatest slock ever. The Hoff, dinos, dragons, sabertooths, everything. I kinda feel the same way about this trailer.
