The bad news is, it won't be available for free online. According to Neil Patrick Harris, Dr. Horrible 2 will be a major motion picture.

Talking to MTV, Harris said,

Apparently they're making a 'Dr. Horrible' sequel - a feature film... I don't know of what scale. They're talking all options, because they made the first 'Dr. Horrible' in five days on no budget at all - that was its intention. You don't want to necessarily make the feature film be an $80 million giant movie, because it defeats the purpose of what the first film was made to be [but] then again, you don't want it to be so low-brow that it's not worth paying money to see as a movie.

We're torn about this news. On the one hand, larger scale Horrible could definitely be fun (If nothing else, think of the potential for bigger musical numbers!), but we'd be lying if we didn't admit that the loss of the independent, forward-thinking nature of distribution doesn't feel important in some way, as well. What do you think?

<![CDATA[Will Chris Evans Yield To Cap Movie Offer? [Captain America]]]> Will Chris Evans Yield To Cap Movie Offer? Is Johnny Storm the new Captain America? The Marvel superhero crossover may come true with the new rumor that Chris Evans, who played the Human Torch in Fox's Fantastic Four movies has been offered the role of Captain America.

Although unconfirmed by Marvel or Evans' reps, the Hollywood Reporter is claiming that Evans has been offered the role of Steve Rogers in the soon-to-shoot Marvel Studios movie, ending months of speculation that has seen a remarkable number of actors being linked to the part. If true, this will be the third high-profile comic-related role for Evans; in addition to his Fantastic Four work, he also appears in this summer's much-anticipated Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.

<![CDATA[#unrant #obicnalaz]]> Fantastic Four star Chris Evans has won the race to become comic book superhero Captain America on the big screen, according to industry reports.

The actor was among the favourites to land the coveted role, and now The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Evans will be the colourful character.

The news is sure to upset comic book purists, who wanted a more mature actor to play the role.

Alex Ross, the artist who redesigned Captain America for Marvel Comics, recently went public with his thoughts on who should play the character.

He told Entertainment Weekly magazine, "We've been saying for years, if you don't sign Jon Hamm to play this part, you're crazy.

"Captain America is supposed to be the patriarch of the Marvel universe. To get a guy in his early to mid-20s is only thinking about where the character began, not what he ultimately needs to become."

Evans will reportedly battle The Matrix and The Wolfman villain Hugo Weaving in the first Captain America movie.

<![CDATA[#unrant #obicnalaz]]> Ok I hope someone can help me after years of never knowing what this film was called.
It was on in the middle of the eighties I think, on BBC2. It was a (I'm guessing) Japanese.
I can remember a planet covered in giant mushrooms and on this planet lived an old man. There is a ship with a crew and in that crew is a young boy, who somehow gets stranded on that planet in the past and turns out to be the old man. very wild stab in the dark that someone may know, but I hope somebody can help. It really moved me that film did.

Thanks

I bet a million cubits that Vergis is behind Amanda's visions of her dead brother. He's making Amanda go crazy because he knows that Daniel loves her. He's also brewing trouble between them by telling Amanda that he thinks Daniel has stolen the MCP chip.

<![CDATA[#unrant #obicnalaz]]> So, I finally broke down and netflixed Stargate Universe on bluray this week. Let me tell ya, I have a whole new appreciation for this series now. I still think it's trying too hard to be like BSG, but rewatching all the episodes with the commentary turned on has really warmed me up to the characters in a way the original broadcasts didn't. If you're still on the fence about this show, or haven't yet partaken in it yet, I highly recommend doing so before the second half starts in two weeks. And get it in bluray, if you can. There are extra special features there you won't find in the dvd release. Besides, a show this visually stunning demands hi-def.

<![CDATA[#unrant #obicnalaz]]> Here's one for you: set in the future, enhanced humans engage in martial arts battles. Only our hero shuns enhancements. His girlfriend is kidnapped by the evil guy who runs the games---and in the most evil idea I've seen in awhile--not only blackmails the hero with her life, but also the fact that he can brainwash the girl to make her think that he [the villain] is the hero and basically rape her while she thinks she's having sex with her boyfriend. Anyone? Bueller?

<![CDATA[#unrant #obicnalaz]]> Chris Evans is one step closer to the role of Captain America.

Sources tell us the actor, who once donned superhero garb in two "Fantastic Four" movies, has been offered the role of Captain America.

Marvel has not confirmed the development and CAA, which reps the actor, declined to comment.

<![CDATA[#unrant #obicnalaz]]> I've been searching for a short book i read in grammar school for YEARS.

memory (possibly tweaked by time):
A kid wakes to hear a knock on family's front door. Dad goes down- dissapears. Another knock. Mom goes down- doesn't come back. Another knocking. Kid goes down - and just sees empty boots outside the door . Magically, his feet are compelled to jump into them. (orrr maybe he saw this happen to mom?). Somehow he traps them (nails them to floor?) chops them up, and feeds them to rats. then he rides these fattened rats out into the night forest. Finds his parents in cages, about to be sacrificed at some crazy ritual. I believe he frees them and all is well (memory grows dim).

Anyone?

<![CDATA[#unrant #obicnalaz]]> I remember reading a zombie-style novel in the early 80s. The twist was that it wasn't a zombie, but some kind of contagious sociological psychosis from overcrowding. People locked themselves away from the hordes, but all that time in closed quarters brought on the condition.

The other twist, a shrink develops a bullet full of downers and anti-psychotic meds to cure the condition.

Any ideas?

<![CDATA[#unrant #obicnalaz]]> A certain animated movie that came out in the relatively recent past pretty much really disappointed me, largely due to the fact that it randomly tossed in some magic/spiritualism into what was a mostly sci-fi tale in an awkward and pointless manner.

Now, I'm trying to think of tales that did a good job of blending sci-fi with fantasy. The Secret of NIMH, obviously a kids movie, is the first thing that came to mind. The science isn't really science and is more kids fantasy...but in this case, the faux science helped to heighten the "magic" and atmosphere in an exciting way, allowing me to suspend my disbelief.

Any better examples?

An expanding gel which inflates under the skin is being developed as a means of healing common birth defects such as cleft palate and webbed fingers, scientists say.
The new potential treatment for these cases involves inserting a small plate made of an anisotropic hydrogel material, similar to that used in contact lenses, under the mucosa of the roof of the mouth.
David Bucknall, from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, helped design the new hydrogel in Oxford using the ISIS neutron source, a super-powerful microscope that allows analysis of materials at a molecular level.
Scientists could "trick" the material by heating it into a malleable state, and then compressing and cooling it so it would expand in the opposite direction to which it was compressed.

<![CDATA[#unrant #obicnalaz]]> OK, I've got a video game I've been trying to remember the name of. Sorry if this is more Kotaku than io9, but you guys seem to be a more helpful lot.

It was one of those mid 90's click adventure games, but it was cartoon themed and focused more on comedy than adventure. It was set in a hotel or apartment building and your task was to find keys to all the doors. In each room was a different mini game or something that would give you a key or a clue or a reward.

Any ideas?
