Monday

Get your day started off in the right way with Syfy's Highlander: The Raven marathon, from 8:30 in the morning until 3:30 in the afternoon. Wait, did I say "right"? I meant, "It's Highlander, surely you can find something better to watch on another channel."

The CW, meanwhile, takes advantage of everything else in primetime being on holiday break by starting a weeklong catch-up for The Vampire Diaries at 8pm, with two episodes running each night until Friday.

Tuesday

You know you're in trouble when a new episode of Syfy's Outer Space Astronauts is the highlight of the day (It's on at 9pm). Otherwise, it's an Early Edition marathon on the same channel from 8am through 3pm and another two hours of The Vampire Diaries on the CW at 8pm for you. Suddenly, NBC's Glee/American Idol mash-up The Sing-Off seems very tempting, doesn't it...?

Wednesday

Again, it's a Syfy marathon from 8am to 3pm (Today, Moonlight) and two hours of Vampire Diaries (from 8pm on the CW) to keep you busy today, although your sanity may be regained with the help of a brand new Mythbusters on Discovery at 9pm (It's called "Hidden Nasties," which can only bode well) and you can always wash your brain out at the end of the day with Eastwick's new episode, "Tea and Psycopathy":

After Jamie reveals to Roxie that Darryl is his father, she sets about having a dinner party where father and son can bond. However, Jamie has a secret, darker plan for the evening. Meanwhile, Kat embraces her newfound power by healing every patient she is exposed to, but her compassion leads to drastic physical consequences. Max asks a reluctant Joanna to help him crack a famous unsolved Eastwick murder, but their snooping leads them to a perilous situation with Eleanor.

Admittedly, after a plot description like that, I'm not sure anyone needs to actually watch the show.

Thursday

I don't remember Level 9, but Syfy definitely does; that's their 8am through 3pm marathon for the day. Aside from the CW's two hour Vampire Diaries block - 8pm until 10pm, remember - your night is both free and clear for you to tune into the special Christmas compilation of Saturday Night Live sketches on NBC at 8pm, just to see if "Dick In A Box" is still funny years later.

Friday

Finally, Syfy's daytime marathon comes through with the goods! It's Stargate SG-1 all day from 8am to 3pm.

As well as (an old) Christmas episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold, you can be advance-grateful for Dollhouse's latest double bill ("Stop-Loss"/"The Attic", Fox 8pm) for giving you something new to watch instead of another couple of episodes of The Vampire Diaries on the CW at the same time. If you need any more reason to tune into the Whedon world, this double bill includes the episode where Victor's contract expires...

Saturday

Syfy put in a strong showing with a monster movie marathon (9:30am: Mutants, 11:30am: Lockjaw: Rise of The Kulev Serpent, 1pm: Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning, 3pm Ginger Snaps II: Unleashed, 5pm: Ice Spiders, 7pm: Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer, 9pm: My Name Is Bruce, 11pm: Alien Apocalypse and finally at 1am, the infamous Mansquito).

But U.S. viewers who haven't already found a way to watch it will be much happier with BBC America's Doctor Who afternoon, which runs old episodes from 2:30 before the 8pm Inside The Tardis behind-the-scenes episode, and the 9pm premiere of the uncut The Waters Of Mars. Thank you for being so good to us, American Beeb.

Sunday

I think you might want to leave the house for the day. Do some last-minute holiday shopping or something, because there's not really a lot to keep you inside and in front of the television... Maybe you should TiVo all those Vampire Diaries and watch them...

<![CDATA[Dragon Movies, Alien Marathons And Dying Pornstars Oh My!]]> You'd be forgiven for thinking that we weren't in the middle of sweeps right now, looking at this week's TV line-up. Where's the razzle and/or the dazzle? Who's bringing the excitement? Oh, wait: House is treating a pornstar. Never mind.

Monday

The week starts off softly, with nothing worth watching until 8 p.m., when you have too many shows even for TiVo to choose from. Shall it be the second night of the so-disappointing-I-may-cry The Prisoner on AMC? New episodes of House on Fox (in which House treats a porn star and decides to bring together his dream team of minions) or Heroes on NBC (in which Tracey loses control of her ability, Matt fights inside his mind with Sylar and OH MY GOD PLEASE MAKE IT STOP ALREADY)? Or a marathon of nature doc redux Planet Earth on the Discovery Channel, which offers six hours of stunning footage and soothing Sigourney Weaver voiceover?

I'm saying TiVo Planet Earth for when you need to be reminded how amazing life can be, and watch House, because you know they'll get some good jokes out've the porn star patient.

Tuesday

While The Prisoner finishes up its run over on AMC at 8pm, ABC's V decides that it's time to copy - Sorry, I mean, "homage" - another sci-fi classic as Erica is forced to team up with a Visitor officer to protect Visitors from death threats in this week's episode, "Wow, do you remember Alien Nation with its buddy comedy pairing of human and alien cops? We sure do." Oh, wait. It's actually called "A Bright New Day."

(If you're in the mood for something a little more classic, Syfy is running an Outer Limits marathon from 8am through 3pm.)

Wednesday

With no new episodes of Mythbusters, you might as well spend the day either (a) not watching television, or the much-more-likely (b) flipping between Syfy's The Twilight Zone marathon (8am through 3pm) and AMC's classic run of Young Frankenstein (1pm), Ghostbusters (3:30pm) and, um, Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines (8pm). Someone's told them that T3 isn't a comedy, right...?

Thursday

As if the traditional Thursday evening crush isn't enough, Syfy are willing to suck your life away with a First Wave marathon from 9am through 3pm, and AMC are willing to contribute with the original Stargate movie at 2:30. Before you know it, you'll be choosing between Flashforward on ABC (Everyone keeps trying to solve their FFs just like they've been for the last few weeks, except Bryce is finally getting off his ass and wondering about his future girlfriend a bit more) and Vampire Diaries on the CW (Jeremy takes up drawing and Elena discovers something terrible, which may just be a future script for the show), both at 8pm.

And then you have to choose again between Fringe on Fox (The truth behind the Observer! And Walter wants a milkshake, with guest-star Kelis. Okay, sadly that part about a guest-star isn't true) and Supernatural on the CW at 9 (The Winchester Bros. team up with Bobby, Ellen and Jo to send Lucifer back to Hell. Don't be surprised if things don't go to plan, considering it's still relatively early in the season). We might just watch Community and 30 Rock instead, though, and catch up with everything else online later, if that's okay with you guys.

Friday

Relive the first wave of post-Lost network television with Syfy's Invasion marathon (8am through 3pm), before switching over to watch Dustin Hoffman worry about his paycheck in Outbreak on AMC.

Let's be honest, Fridays are really all about the evening shows, though; Smallville finally tries to get to the bottom of Lois' future abduction/visions on the CW at 8pm (Kneeling before Zod is optional, I believe), while CBS' Ghost Whisperer is worried about someone dying at the same time, which makes no sense. Wouldn't that just mean she'd have someone else to whisper to? Why do they never think these things through?

At 9pm, you can choose between Medium on CBS, wherein Allison develops a strange sensitivity to light, or Syfy's Stargate Universe, wherein everyone catches their breath and uses those weird psychic projection stone things to talk to those they've left behind. Alternatively, you could switch over to Cartoon Network for a new episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, before ending the night with the latest episode of Sanctuary at 10pm on Syfy.

Saturday

Syfy tries to get your attention with a triple bill of cut-rate dragon movies (In The Name Of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale at 9pm, Fire And Ice at 11:30 and Dragon Sword on Sunday at 1:30 in the morning), but there's no way that can compete with AMC's quadruple bill of the Alien movies: Alien starts at 5:30, followed by Aliens at 8pm, Alien 3 at 11 and Alien: Resurrection at 1:30 on Sunday morning. The first two, at least, are worth it.

Sunday

Oh, people. You all know by now that Sunday is Venture Bros day, right? I don't know what else to tell you aside from that, apart from the episode being entitled "Self-Medication". Oh, and that it's on Cartoon Network at midnight, and is really the most essential piece of television in the entire week. Don't leave home without it.

<![CDATA[Get Lost In The Global Village With This Week's Television]]> It's a week unlike any other... Oh, okay, with new episodes of most of our favorite shows, it's a week very like many others. But there's also the launch of the new Prisoner, making Sunday the night to tune in.

Monday

What better way to start off the week than with a Syfy marathon of Stargate SG-1 running right now, from 8am all the way through to 3pm? Sure, there's that whole "work" thing, but come on. It's Stargate!

Otherwise, your television thrills are limited to an 8pm conflict between new episodes of House on Fox (A teenage girl can't distinguish between fact and fiction "after a wild night out." Am I the only one who feels like this could be either awesome or hideously embarrassing for all involved?) and Heroes on NBC, where Sylar is still trying to take control of Matt's body and Claire has to face off with her father's Sorority Girl Army. And, yes, I did accidentally make that sound more interesting than the actual show. Sorry, everyone.

Tuesday

For those calling in sick, I'd recommend skipping Syfy's Tru Calling marathon (8am through 3pm for those whose love of Dushku overpowers their bad-show gag reflex) and tuning into AMC, which goes dragon crazy with a 12:45 airing of Dragonheart (Dennis Quaid and a dragon voiced by Sean Connery!) followed by a 3pm re-run of Reign of Fire (You could stay tuned for a 5pm Batman Begins and 8pm Terminator 2: Judgment Day as well, if you were feeling particularly lazy).

If you'd rather get a delayed British take on the 40th anniversary of the moon landing, then James May On The Moon (BBC America at 8pm) takes Top Gear's Captain Slow and puts him in the driver's seat for an hour long look back at those heady days where men were men and the Moon seemed an obtainable destination.

Otherwise, click over to ABC for the second episode of V and see whether it still feels like FlashForward meets... Well, the old V, really (The official PR for the episode says "A seeker among the Visitors tracks Erica and Father Jack. Chad seeks redemption by investigating the aliens ahead of his next newscast while law enforcers press Erica for information concerning Dale M…").

Wednesday

Thank God for Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel at 9pm. Without their investigation into whether cars will automatically burst into flames after crashing (Surely we have empirical proof that the answer is no already?), I'd have to find some way to pretend that Glee (Fox at 9) was a scifi show just to have something to write about for today. I figured I could always claim that it was set in an alternate reality where people aren't creeped out by Will Schuester trying to rap.

Thursday
If it's Thursday, then it's time for all the shows to run up against each other again. Sure, you could pretend that the networks aren't showing anything and watch a double bill of Demolition Man and End of Days on AMC (Sly and Arnold! In two of their most underrated - for a reason - movies! It starts at 8pm, if you're tempted), after spending the day watching Syfy's Star Trek: Enterprise marathon (8am through 3pm, as ever), but come on. I know that you can't resist the big shows people are talking about.

On FlashForward (ABC, 8pm), Aaron discovers the truth about his daughter's death, Janis returns to work and Mark and Olivia's martial troubles bring everyone down yet again, man. Things are much more fun over in Mystic Falls where Vampire Diaries (the CW at 8pm) brings a mysterious new teacher, arguments over medallions and, according to the CW, "Damon finally reveals to Stefan the stunning reason he has returned to Mystic Falls." If I watched the show and/or cared, I couldn't wait!

9pm brings the real reason to wrestle over the remote; Fringe on Fox gives Olivia, Broyles and Peter a new reason to be suspicious of Massive Dynamic when the impossibly shady corporation turn out to be involved in a kidnapping case, but Supernatural (The CW) looks much more fun than even Walter Bishop could provide:

Super fan Becky uses Chuck's phone to trick Sam and Dean into attending a Supernatural fan convention, complete with fans dressed up as Sam and Dean. One of the activities is a live action role-playing game, but things quickly turn sour after a real ghost appears on the scene.

Seriously. How could anyone resist that?

Friday

Jericho fans! You have the Syfy marathon of the day (8am through 3pm, which I'm sure you already know by now) to keep you happy during the daylight hours; the rest of us will be watching the original The War Of The Worlds movie on AMC at 10:15am (And avoiding the following Star Trek: Nemesis at 12:15pm, a movie which can best be described by blogger Kevin Church here), instead.

Still, Friday evening starts the weekend off right with the double bill of Batman: The Brave and The Bold ("The Fate of Equinox!" Yes, the exclamation point is part of the title) and Star Wars: The Clone Wars (following last week's surprisingly brutal, "Are Jedi really advocating using flame throwers against living beings what the hell?" episode) on Cartoon Network, starting at 7:30pm (Clone Wars is at 8pm, if you have an aversion of Batman. And if you do, then I'm very, very sorry.)

If you're in the mood for MOR dramas teasing the supernatural, then CBS is the place to be tonight, with new episodes of both Ghost Whisperer (8pm, with Jennifer Love Hewitt "pulled into a murder mystery by a real estate power couple" - Yes, this is what people want to watch, apparently) and Medium (9pm, which at least includes a potentially amusing-for-the-wrong-reasons subplot about posting videos of someone on the internet and "getting into trouble") on offer.

The rest of us, we'll be considering Smallville on the CW at 8pm (It features the Wonder Twins! You know you want to), Stargate Universe on Syfy at 9pm (The crew of the Destiny get a message from their future selves from the past. Or something) and Sanctuary on the same channel at 10pm.

Saturday

If you're not looking forward to Syfy's Ice Twisters at 9pm ("A sci-fi novelist is summoned to help scientists after an experiment in weather manipulation goes awry and produces deadly tornadoes made of ice," apparently), then we'd suggest that AMC's double bill of trilogies is the best way to spend your day. Start with the Mad Max trilogy (Movies starting 1:30, 3:30 and 5:30pm) before a night of The Matrix trilogy (The three movies begin at 8pm, 11pm and 1am on Sunday, respectively). Otherwise, the only thing left is Discovery's Surviving 2012... which is about all the prophecies, and not, sadly, advice on making it through Roland Emmerich's latest.

Sunday

It's the best night of television this week! Who knew, right? Start things off right with Syfy's latest screening of Serenity at 6:30 before switching over midway through - Hopefully missing Alan Tudyk's least favorite scene ever in the process - to catch the premiere of AMC's brand new take on The Prisoner at 8pm. If Ian McKellan and Jim Caviezel can't bring Patrick McGoohan's classic paranoiafest back to life, I'm going to be very depressed.

Of course, the best way to finish the evening off is coming at midnight, with the latest episode of The Venture Bros on Cartoon Network. Can we all just admit that it's the smartest and funniest show on television already?

<![CDATA[Aliens Invade In "V" Reboot, Plus Supernatural Goes Super-Meta]]> If aliens invading is your thing, this is definitely your week: Not only does the new V premiere on Tuesday, but Syfy are running marathons of the old show to keep you busy 'til then. Also: Batman! Prisoner! And dragons!

Monday

If you didn't lose most of your Sunday to Syfy's V marathon, don't despair; they're continuing it today, from 8am through 7pm (And then again tomorrow, starting at 8am again). Jane Badler fanatics of the world, unite for one last time before Morena Baccarin takes over. Talking of remakes of beloved shows, AMC have a 15 minute Prisoner Preview at 2:45, teasing the reboot that premieres later this month (It re-runs throughout the week, if you miss it).

Of course, Monday wouldn't be Monday without Heroes; this week is the much-anticipated "Once Upon A Time In Texas" episode that sees Hiro try to save Charlie's life again, even though I thought we'd conclusively proven way back in the first season that he couldn't do that. Oh, Heroes, suddenly that House re-run on Fox at the same time seems that bit more interesting...

Tuesday

Having presumably primed yourself with the end of Syfy's V marathon, you'll be eagerly anticipating the premiere of ABC's brand new, now-with-extra-Scott-Wolf V, for the first of four weeks before a winter break. We reviewed it at Comic-Con and were pleasantly surprised by the "creepy and intriguing" update of the classic show. Here are the first eight minutes or so:

Meanwhile, AMC and FX are showing off their superhero movie chops: AMC has a doublebill of Batman and Batman Returns starting at 8, while FX shows the better-than-the-first-but-that's-not-necessarily-saying-much Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer at the same time.

Wednesday

Get your humpday started properly with AMC showing of the Buffy The Vampire Slayer movie at 9:45 in the morning, and then stick around for Reign of Fire - one of our favorite dragon war movies ever - at 3pm. In fact, when you add in more showings of Batman, Batman Returns and Batman Forever (at 8pm) and Batman Begins (at 10:30), you could pretty much just leave your television tuned to AMC all day.

But if you did that, you'd miss a new episode of Eastwick at 10pm on ABC. Considering I've never seen the show, I'll just quote the summary instead:

After Chad visits her one last time in a dream, a grieving Roxie resolves to fulfill his last wish — if she can figure out what it is. Hounded by Max, her replacement at the Gazette, about her kidnapping ordeal, Joanna grapples with her own lingering questions while dodging his and Kat, startled by a newfound ability, realizes that Bun's old friend Eleanor Rougement may have answers for both of them.

For those looking for documentary-esque thrills, Mythbusters investigate liquid nitrogen myths in a new episode at 9pm on the Discovery Channel, and, after rocking a marathon of Destination Truth from 8am through 3pm (There's also a new episode on at 9), Syfy celebrates the power of brand loyalty by bringing in Warehouse 13's Eddie McClintock to help track down the "Ghost Of Buffalo Bill" on a brand new episode of Ghost Hunters at 8pm.

Thursday

As if the V marathons earlier in the week weren't enough, Syfy has a Threshold marathon starting at 8am and running until 3 in the afternoon. Remember Threshold?

Because it's Thursday, it's time to give your TiVos a workout. At 8pm, you can choose between a new episode of FlashForward on ABC -

Mark, Demetri, Gough and MI6 agent Fiona Banks investigate a Blue Hand club and its possible connection to some recent suicides. Meanwhile, Aaron receives a surprise visit from a former army buddy of his late daughter's, Demetri comes clean with Zoey about his lack of a flashforward, and Nicole helps Bryce uncover the mystery of his flashforward while volunteering at the hospital.

- or a new Vampire Diaries on the CW:

On his birthday, Stefan is surprised by a visit from Lexi, one of his oldest friends. Still upset by the events at the Halloween haunted house, Elena does her best to stay away from Stefan, but Lexi gives her some unsolicited relationship advice. Elena and Jenna are surprised by a change in Jeremy's behavior. At Damon's insistence, Caroline tries to get his medallion back from Bonnie. Finally, Damon's offer to help Sheriff Forbes has sudden and tragic results.

Similarly, 9pm brings a choice between Fringe on Fox -

The Fringe Division takes on a puzzling investigation where victims are inexplicably disintegrating into ash. The shadowy case casts light on Special Agent Phillip Broyles' past and leads the team to the possibility of foreign Fringe Science. Emotions run high as the alarming events stack up and revealing personal details emerge about the leader of the Fringe Division.

- and what looks like a very fun episode of Supernatural on the CW:

The Trickster throws Sam and Dean into an alternate universe where they are characters in different television series, including a sexy medical show, a Japanese game show, a forensics show and a sitcom. The brothers realize the only way to get out of this world is to play along and become the characters in the shows. However, Castiel appears and warns them this universe is dangerous and they must get out before they become trapped.

(My suggestion: Watch FlashForward and Fringe live, TiVo Supernatural and try to pretend Vampire Diaries doesn't exist. Sorry, Kevin Williamson.)

Friday

Today's Syfy marathon? The third season of Doctor Who. Again, it starts at 8am: Set your TiVo to relive the awesomeness that is Martha Jones. Otherwise, you'll be left with nothing to watch until Smallville on the CW at 8 (Jor-El meets Chloe, Clark realizes that a younger version of his dad is on Earth and Zod keeps disappointing in the villain stakes).

That's followed by the Syfy double bill of Stargate Universe at 9 (Wherein Richard Dean Anderson guests with a crazy plan about how to bring the accidental crew of the Destiny home. Spoiler: It's only the sixth episode: It's not going to work), and Sanctuary at 10 (Magnus wakes up with no idea where she is, or why everything around her has been destroyed. I know how she feels).

If you're feeling like you're missing old friends, though, you could always tune in to White Collar on USA at 9, which counts Fringe's dear departed Charlie and The Middleman's Natalie Morales amongst its cast this week. Plus, of course, Matt Bomer, whom everyone keeps telling me is the new David Tennant in dreaminess quotant.

Saturday

Syfy seems to have forgotten that Halloween was the week before, with three horror movies: Open Graves (starring a pre-Dollhouse Eliza Dushku), in which American students abroad find a deadly boardgame, the remake of The Amityville Horror, and From Within, which apparently has something to do with a Christian questioning her faith when people around her get gruesomely slaughtered.

Thankfully, the movie that follows those three, Snakehead Terror features both snake-headed mutant pirhanas and Bruce Boxeleitner, so things seem to getting back to normal in the end. (Open Graves starts at 4, and each following movie comes two hours later).

Sunday

Worried about the truth behind Roland Emmerich's new destructo movie? Then don't watch 2012: Startling New Secrets on Syfy, which sounds as if it treads the fine line between Destination Truth-esque knowing parody and tacky sensationalism. Which, come to think of it, sounds pretty like the 2012 movie itself, actually... Instead, finish off your weekend with "Return To Malice," the latest, and no doubt entirely awesome, episode of The Venture Bros. on Cartoon Network at midnight. Let's face it: Brock would be disappointed if you didn't.

<![CDATA[Lost, Vampire Diaries Actor To Star In "American Pan's Labyrinth"]]> Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder isn't stepping too far outside of his teen horror genre with new project Cradlewood - It's being described as the next step for Twilight fans who've outgrown Stephenie Meyer's novels.

Somerhalder will play the cursed heir to a family fortune, who's destined to be killed by a demon if he has a son, in the new movie, to be directed by co-writer Harry Weinmann (The script by Stephen Sewell and John Paul Chapple is based on Weinmann's original story). Producer Michel Shane explains the movie's cynical selling points:

We see this is as almost like an American-style 'Pan's Labyrinth' in look and feel... It's a perfect segue for the kids who have outgrown 'Twilight' but want something romantic and scary.

All the answer will most likely not be explained, on ABC at 8 PM.

Supernatural -
All I really want is to see Sarah Palin as President in the post-apocalyptic world of 2014. Don't get me wrong - definitely, NEVER EVER in real life. On CW at 9 PM.

Fringe -
This week on "what will Walter say next," a bomb goes off at a Philadelphia train station. The gang is stumped, Peter is sassy, Olivia is tough and they all go to Iraq because: time peg! Smallville -
John Corben is transformed into a cyborg after a car accident. As a machine man, he uses his newfound strength and powers to hunt down The Blur, and kidnaps Lois to do so. Don't miss the shirtless Kryptonite-powered cyborg action at 8 PM.

Dollhouse -
Echo's maternal instincts kick in on the job when she's imprinted with the emotions of a new mother. Alexis Denisof returns as Sen. Perrin and continues his hunt for the prostitution ring known as the Dollhouse. And Adelle visits November, because maybe she's not as done as a doll as we previously thought. Fox rolls out the second episode of Dollhouse season two, at 9 PM.

Stargate Universe -
The "darkest installment of the" Stargates launches this week, with a two-hour premiere, calculated to give even newbies a chance to jump in. Robert Carlyle plays Dr. Nicolas Rush, a man intent on ... well, actually we're not entirely sure. He does, however, assemble a team to tame the mysterious ninth gate, which leads to an undiscovered expanse of space. Eli, played by David Blue, is the young hotshot Rush has brought along to "voluntarily" lend his brain. The third Stargate show gives us familiar cast members (with guests Amanda Tapping and Richard Dean Anderson) but a much darker Stargate this time around — and forget exploration: the piecemeal team must work on surviving, first and foremost, on Syfy at 9 PM.

Spoiler alert? Witness two possible deaths in this four-minute preview from Syfy.

Movies:

The Incredibles makes you wonder if Marvel and Disney weren't in bed before now, on the Disney Channel at 9 PM.

Also, promos and spoilers from Pandorum, The Hobbit, Supernatural, True Blood, and John Carter of Mars.

Green Lantern

Comic book writer Rob Liefeld, who is close to the Green Lantern production, revealed some over-arching aspects of the setting and plot:

He has seen most of the storyboards for the Green Lantern film and he claims that it looks fantastic. He said that if they could translate what is on the storyboards to film, the movie would be amazing. Over one-third of the movie is set on OA, the home world of the Green Lanterns. The film will have numerous Green Lanterns, including fan favorite Kilowag and Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) mentor turned archenemy, Sinestro.

Despite his claim that he doesn't want to play any more Gandalf-like characters, Ian McKellen says he will be returning as Gandalf the Grey, his favorite version of Gandalf and Peter Jackson's as well:

He slept in the hedgerows; he was closer to the earth and not quite so spiritual. He's also funnier — he's got more variety to him. We thought there was more scope in that Gandalf.

John Carter of Mars

Makeup tests are currently underway for the Edgar Rice Burroughs adaptation, and Lynn Collins, who plays the Martian princess Dejah Thoris says she won't appear in heavy prosthetics, but will instead have more of a "tropical island" look. [MTV Movies Blog]

When prisoner Androvax the Destroyer crash-lands on Earth, a Veil is set free and starts to turn Earth's technology against itself. And his next intended victim is Sarah Jane.

And for the second part, airing October 16th:

As the Judoon fleet approaches Earth, it's a race against time to stop Androvax. But with Genetech's technology on the rampage, and Rani's parents taken prisoner, can anything stop the Army of the Infinitesimal?

The BBC also lists off some of the other oddities Sarah Jane and the crew will encounter:

The series also features an extraterrestrial girl who can make people play games against their will; a living painting; the inhabitants of a supposedly haunted house; and monsters who want to infect Earth with a strangely aggressive weed. Finally, there is a chance for Sarah Jane to find personal happiness with someone who could be the perfect person to complete her family.

Artie and our agents catch up to MacPherson when he's trying to sell off items he's stolen from the warehouse. Did he even think this plan through? Oh, wait, yes. Turns out he's had a plan the whole time. Say goodbye to America's attic, for now, at 9 PM on Syfy.

Wednesday:

Eastwick -
Seriously, this "Desperate Housewitches" new show looks trashy and outrageous, and has definite potential to become the show we watch religiously but never tell anyone about. Anyway, the show centers around three women who bump coins and are suddenly intertwined in each other's lives. When a mysterious devilish man makes his way into town, he'll either teach the women how to harness their powers, or let their freak flags fly. Or both. The adaptation of John Updike's The Witches of Eastwick begins tonight on ABC at 10 PM.

Destination Truth -
Josh and the team investigate King Tut's curse by locking Josh inside the tomb and trying not to let him fall asleep ... or get killed by the most famous Egyptian, at 10 PM on the Syfy Channel

Thursday:

FlashForward -
FlashForward is ABC's slightly less trashy attempt at adapting a famous novel. Based on the classic book by Robert J. Sawyer, the television series changes more than a little of the original storyline about people seeing the future. On the small screen, it has become a star-studded ensemble, including a mysterious man named Simon (played by Dominic Monaghan). People around the world glimpse two minutes and 17 seconds of their future, six months ahead of time, causing mass casualties and terrible panic. Our first protagonists, Mark and Demetri, are thrown into a car crash following the worldwide blackout. Back at FBI headquarters, they try to figure out how to begin to make sense of the reason behind the blackouts, on ABC at 8 PM

Take a look at the first 17 minutes here if you dare. Bonus points if you can spot the Famous Jett Jackson and Seth MacFarlane in this promo.

Vampire Diaries -
This week in this "still not True Blood" show, Elena tries not to listen to her friend's warning about Stefan's weird vibes as he begins to ... try to fit in at high school like a regular teen. Instead, Elena invites Stefan to dinner with her and Bonnie, to try to get the two on better terms, but the romance is interrupted by Damon and easily impressionable Caroline. It's vampires and teen drama and boring sad men who wear terrible man-rings only on the CW at 8 PM.

Supernatural -
Sam's ready to hang it all up, give up on chasing demons and angels, but then he meets a mysterious girl who threatens to change his mind. Dean, meanwhile, continues his hunt for the Archangel Raphael so he can get to God. Are the bros split for good? It's the end of days again at 9 PM on the CW.

Fringe -
The team heads to Pennsylvania (Does this mean Olivia's back on her feet? Or are they teaming with the new lady agent instead?) The freak of the week seems to involve the subterranean disappearance of a construction worker. Also, more Walter craziness when he tries to shift some frogs to another reality. New Fringe at 9 PM on Fox.

Friday:

<![CDATA[Secrets Of Lost's Thelma-And-Louise Moment And Supernatural's Paris Hilton Cameo]]> Lost fans have cobbled together the ultimate spoiler grail for season six's giant nothing-will-be-the-same twist. Plus your first look at Supernatural's future post-apocalyptic Dean, and Doctor Who's next military man. Also: Fringe, Dollhouse, Smallville, Chuck, Twilight and Heroes spoilers.

Lost:

So apparently all the filming that's been taking place, involving the safe landing of Oceanic flight 815, is from the season's third episode, entitled "What Kate Does." And there are tons of set reports and inside dirt. Apparently, on the plane, Jack and Cindy the stewardess talk about drinks, and Rose waits for Bernard to get back from the bathroom — then there's turbulence, but Bernard returns from the bathroom in one piece. Charlie gets sick and calls out for a doctor. Boone is annoyed at not being in first class, and Boone and Locke have some words.

When the plane lands, the sickly Charlie is led off the plane first and Locke is put in his wheelchair. Dr. Arzt recognizes Hurley as "that Chicken Shack guy" and asks him to say his catch phrase. Jin and Sun are talking in Korean, and Jin is being a jerk again. Meanwhile, Jack is upset because his father's coffin has gone missing, and the funeral is in two hours.

As for Kate, she's handcuffed to the U.S. Marshall, but gives him the slip in the bathroom. And that taxi she commandeers at gunpoint has a pregnant Claire already sitting in it. Sounds like Kate tosses the taxi driver out and drives away, with Claire still in the cab. They drive to a big house near where Hurley used to live, and then an unknown woman (either the woman whom Richard Malkin recommended to Claire back in season one, or possibly actor Jenni Blong) opens the door and says she can't adopt Claire's baby: "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I really wanted this. But my husband… I just can't have the baby right now." Claire starts going into labor and Kate shouts "Call a doctor."

And one scene being filmed also involved a taxicab that had been in a traffic accident and was surrounded by LAPD cars.

[The Transmission and SpoilersLost and The ODI and Hawaii Weblog]

Meanwhile, the show is also prepping some new and old props and set pieces. There's an archway we haven't seen before, and a weird staircase, and some pillars with old symbols on them. There's also the pillar that Locke's dad was tied to when Ben wanted Locke to kill him, the Hatch door, the Submarine, and the well Locke fell down on his way to the Orchid station last year. Plus some airplane windows. More pics at the link. [The ODI]

Doctor Who:

Stuart Milligan plays Colonel Stark, a crucial character, in the upcoming animated adventure "Dreamland," and here he is talking about the character:

Fringe:

The team is going to be more proactive this season, mostly due to Peter. Also, as Walter gets more independent, we'll see more development of his relationship with Astrid — and maybe, more development for Astrid generally. (Yes please!) But meanwhile, Olivia is this season's "tragic heroine." And we're going to unravel the secrets of Walter's shared relationship with Olivia very slowly over the course of the season. Oh, and Walter finally meets Nina. (But shockingly — there have been three different Gene the cows. [L.A. Times]

Dollhouse:

Don't hold your breath to see Alpha again — Alan Tudyk says he won't be back until the last few episodes of the current run of episodes. [EW]

Some new promos for the second season that I don't think we've featured before:

Supernatural:

Here's the first image from the Oct. 1 episode, where Dean travels forward to 2014, where a zombie plague, unleashed by Lucifer, wreaks havoc. (Click the link for the full image.) The Future Dean is the leader of a resistance camp, and we discover the fate of the show's beloved Chevy Impala — it's up on cinder blocks, rusted and gutted. Dean is "like, 'oh baby, what did they do to you?'" says Jensen Ackles. [EW]

Wondering exactly how the show is going to use Paris Hilton in her upcoming cameo? Here's the official description for episode five, "Fallen Idol":

PARIS HILTON GUEST STARS - Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) decide to start hunting together again and their first case leads them to a small town whose inhabitants are being killed by famous dead icons like Abraham Lincoln and James Dean's car. However, after two teenage girls come forward and claim their friend was kidnapped by Paris Hilton (in a cameo role as herself), the brothers aren't sure what they are hunting anymore.

[SPNSite]

And here's a sneak peek from Thursday's new episode:

And finally, some set pics including Bobby, from episode 5x07, "The Curious Case Of Dean Winchester". [SpoilerTV]

The Descent 2:

A new French one sheet gives us a scary new look at this upcoming sequel. [ShockTillYouDrop]

Chuck:

Vinnie Jones, the ex-British football player, will guest star as an expert hit man with a soft side. [THR via Zap2It]

Also, there's a casting call for episode 3x06, "Chuck Vs. The Nacho Sampler," in which we meet Manoosh Depak, an East Indian in his 20s who's a computer genius. [ChuckTV]

Smallville:

As you may already know, the new season picks up three weeks after the last season ended. And no sooner does Lois reappear mysteriously than she's being chased by a Kryptonian ninja-chick. We see lots of lois and Ollie interacitng, and we also get lots of scenes inside the Watchtower, including some scenes with Dr. Hamilton. [KryptonSite]

And here's the official description of the season's third episode, "Rabid":

ZOD UNLEASHES A VIRUS INTO METROPOLIS - Zod (Callum Blue) and his soldiers release a virus into the air that turns humans into zombies. The only way to stop it is to make an antidote from the blood of another Kryptonian. After Lois (Erica Durance) is infected, Chloe (Allison Mack) pleads with Clark (Tom Welling) to donate his blood to stop the epidemic, even though it risks outing him to Zod.

[KryptonSite]

And a single page of casting script pages shows us a guy named Pope (possibly THE Pope?) who is trying to get away in a Limo with some diamonds (and some ladies? Although that may just be a metaphor for the diamonds), and some kind of huge animal jumps on the limo roof and then jumps away. The limo then crashes into a power pole, knocking the passenger and driver unconscious, and the diamonds are scattered everywhere. This is from episode eight, "Idol." [SpoilerTV]

Twilight: Eclipse:

Some new set photos include cars, and some truly awful hair. [SpoilerTV]

Heroes:

Excited to meet evil carnival barker Samuel (Robert Knepper) tonight? Well, soon you'll meet Samuel's older brother as well, played by Andrew Connolly. [THR]

Also, Sally Champlin says she'll be back in at least two episodes, playing Lynette at the Burnt Toast Diner (from season one.) And it sounds like she may get to do some singing — and she has a scene where she discovers that Hiro has a cute butt. Separately we'll see Traci and HRG coming together to deal with things in their own lives. And Mohinder shows up in tonight's premiere, but really gets a huge role in the tenth episode of the season, where things get "hairy" for him. [The ODI]

And here's the synopsis for the season's fourth episode, "Acceptance":

THE HEROES ARE TRYING TO ASSIMILATE BACK INTO THEIR OLD LIVES — ROBERT KNEPPER, RAY PARK, BRUCE BOXLEITNER AND SWOOSIE KURTZ GUEST STAR — As Hiro's (Masi Oka) life continues to hang in the balance, he distracts himself with saving the lives of others. Meanwhile, Angela (Cristine Rose) tries to help the new "Nathan" (Adrian Pasdar) remember his past, at the risk of his remembering too much. Elsewhere, Tracy (Ali Larter) is determined to get her old job back, but soon realizes that she needs to make more of an impact.

[SpoilerTV]

A new promo — Sylar's back!

Vampire Diaries:

Here's the official description for episode 5, "You're Undead To Me":

Stefan (Paul Wesley) is hopeful that his plan to get rid of Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is working. Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Jenna (Sara Canning) are concerned about Jeremy's (Steven R. McQueen) relationship with Vicki (Kayla Ewell). Stefan decides to reveal parts of his past to Elena. At a fund-raising car wash, Bonnie (Katerina Graham) is surprised by abilities she didn't know she possessed, and seeks advice from her grandmother (Jasmine Guy, "A Different World"). Finally, Elena hears a disturbing story about the Salvatore family from a stranger.

[Vampire Site]

And there's a casting call for a couple of sexy vampires who show up in episode seven:

[LEXI] (early to mid 20's) A sexy, feisty, fiery, ball of fun VAMPIRE who comes to Mystic Falls to visit her old friend Stefan. GUEST STAR, POS RECURRING. ANY ETHNICITY. STAR/STUNT NAMES ONLY

[LEE] (mid to late 20's) Dark, angry, menacing, sexy bad boy. Lexi's on-again off-again ex-boyfriend who doesn't think twice about turning Mystic Falls into one giant vampire buffet. GUEST STAR, ANY ETHNICITY. STAR/STUNT NAMES ONLY.

<![CDATA[Secrets Of Jeff Bridges' Second Character In Tron Legacy, Plus Supernatural's Visit To the Future]]> Jeff Bridges takes on two roles in Tron Legacy, Supernatural travels into the future, and Cuddy gets some loving on House. Plus, more details on Dollhouse, seven clips from FlashForward, and Kick-Ass, Fringe, Warehouse 13, and The Green Hornet

Tron Legacy

Producer Sean Bailey says that the younger version of Jeff Bridges (depicted using the same techniques done to de-age Brad Pitt in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, play a major role in the film. But Bridges will also play a second, older character, though Bailey won't say who. He also said that the computer world of Tron Legacy is not part of the Internet, but an isolated space that evolved on its own, much like the Galapagos Islands. He also reiterated that we'll be seeing light runner vehicles traveling off-road. [SCI FI Wire]

Surrogates

Radha Mitchell talks a bit about playing her character as both her human self and her robotic surrogate:

It's great to be able to change your costume in one story, and have these two different identities, but what I guess the story really gets at is the abstraction of social interaction and I guess also the obsession with perfection. So there are the robots that are all supposed to have this particular aesthetic look that I guess currently we would consider better than the other look, but if you can change your costume like that, you lose the bias, and then you go for comfort. I had a padded ass in the second costume, and, like, buckteeth, but ultimately when you can wear high heels, or you can sit around in a padded ass? So you can do either or by choice and you choose the ass. Then there's the idea that you could change your gender, and you could change your race, so what is intrinsic to who we are? We feel like it's this sort of physical thing, but maybe we are just these creatures of the mind.

[Moviehole]

Pandorum

Here is the German trailer for the scifi thriller:

[via ShockTillYouDrop]

The Green Hornet

Seth Rogen gets suited up (in an actual suit) for his superhero movie, plus Jay Chou in suspenders:

[Accidental Sexiness]

Dollhouse

At the end of the season premiere, Echo will reveal to Paul that she is functioning with multiple personalities in her head and is becoming aware of her situation. And then Paul will start to look upon Echo as something other than a damsel in distress. [EW]

Kick-Ass

Mark Millar says both the Kick-Ass book and the movie will end on a teaser, setting up a sequel. [MTV]

Fringe

Blair Brown, who plays Massive Dynamics COO Nina Sharp, talks a bit about her character and the coming season:

[Zap2it]

Episode nine will feature Dr. Lao Che, an English and Cantonese-speaking herbalist with big plans. [Spoiler TV]

We'll have a fresh encounter with one of Broyles' old cases from his long history with the Fringe Division this season. [EW]

Joshua Jackson said not to expect any Peter-Olivia romance, as he views their relationship more like that of siblings. He also says this season's episodes are about half mythology episodes, and half one-off investigations. [CinemaBlend]

Supernatural

As we mentioned, the season's fourth episode, "The End," features Dean traveling into the future to the year 2014, when a demonic virus is turning people into zombies, and Zachariah explains that this is the world that results from Dean's refusal to help the angels fight Lucifer. Dean also meets his future self.

It's a Dean-heavy episode, to be sure, but Sam will appear about ten minutes before then end, and his appearance will make his absence from the rest of the episode make sense. [E! Online]

For the seventh episode, Hal Ozsan and Pascale Hutton have been cast as Lia and Patrick respectively. [Spoiler TV]

House

Creator David Shore is aware that Taub and Thirteen's three-year fellowships are about to end, but hasn't figured out what to do about it. Also, there are no indications in the early scripts that Cuddy is aware of House getting down and dirty with Franka Potente, but Cuddy may be getting a little action of her own, in the form of scruffy privae detective Lucas Douglas. [EW]

Lost

The third episode of the new season will center on Kate. [EW]

Warehouse 13

Here is the official description and sneak peek for the show's first season finale from Syfy:

"MacPherson" is the thrilling action-packed season finale which features guest appearances by CCH Pounder (ER) and Roger Rees (Cheers). MacPherson, after a failed attempt to take Artie's life, is now selling dangerous artifacts, stolen from the Warehouse shelves, on the black-market. Artie and Leena (Genelle Williams) also suspect there's a mole in the Warehouse who's secretly aligned with MacPherson – could it be Claudia? Meanwhile, as the team hunts down MacPherson, they realize too late that his capture is a carefully orchestrated trap to destroy them.

V

The producers are casting the guest role of Cyrus for episode three. He'll be a jittery man in his late 30s who was, in his youth, a fierce and proud soldier. [Spoiler TV]

Heroes

Actors Ray Park and Robert Knepper say that their characters aren't stereotypical carnival folk, and Knepper described his character Samuel is a "Keith Richards-esque, rock and roller kind of guy." Park said his character, Edgar is a supe speedster like Daphne, with knife skills and acrobatics as a bonus. Samuel, meanwhile, is an earthmover, able to manipulate the ground beneath him. They also said there is a lot of rivalry and jealousy between the pair, saying if they trust each other, they still won't turn their backs on one another for very long. [CBR]

On September 28, NBC is launching ten consecutive weeks of Heroes webisodes, which they say will crossover with the TV series. [Spoiler TV]

The tenth episode of the season is called "Brother's Keeper." [HeroesSite]

Eureka

In the season finale, Zoe heads off to Harvard, Tess is off to Australia, and a magnetic disturbance hovers over the town:

The Box

Cameron Diaz goes groovy in the latest round of publicity stills:

[Spoiler TV]

Priest

Madhcen Amick has been cast in this Paul Bettany-starring vampire Western. She'll be playing the mother of Bettany's kidnapped niece. [ShockTillYouDrop]

Smallville

In the early part of the season, Tess will mostly be interacting with Zod. They'll be allies, but with very different agendas — hers to protect the Blur, his to find him. And episode three will feature a zombified Lois Lane. [EW]

FlashForward

Seven clips from the premiere have been released:

[UGO]

In the third episode, a young Somali herder will see some very surprising things. [Spoiler TV]

MovieWeb has tons of interviews with the producers and cast:

Marc Guggenheim:

Jessika Borsiczky:

David Goyer:

Joseph Fiennes:

Christine Woods:

Courtney B. Vance:

Sonya Walger:

[MovieWeb]

Vampire Diaries

Ian Somerhalder, who plays less human-loving vamp Damon, says that while we'll see flashes of Damon's humanity, he'll stick with the evil thing for a while. He also says that Damon harbors a lot of animosity toward his brother Stefan for something that happened in their past, and any time Stefan finds himself enjoying any happiness, Damon will show up to ruin it. To that end, Damon will try to ingratiate himself to the townsfolk and worming his way into Stefan's life. [E! Online]

<![CDATA[Look Who's Back in the Dollhouse, and More Dead Return to Lost]]> New Dollhouse photos show one character's return, and we learn which former locations and cast members will turn up on Lost. Where the Wild Things Are

Here are a few more monstrous images from Spike Jonze's adaptation:

Surrogates

In an interview with SciFi Scanner, director Jonathan Mostow talks a bit about what he's trying to say about technology in Surrogates and how it's different from his work on Terminator:

Whenever there's a new gadget I'm typically the guy that will go out and buy it. Terminator is a movie that said, "Be afraid of technology because it can take over our lives." This is a movie that says, "Technology is great, it makes our lives better, but at what price?" I think a thousand years from now, historians will look back on this time as a time just as seminal as when mankind first discovered fire or invented the printing press.

Dollhouse

We mentioned earlier that Mellie/November would be making a return, and in images from the third episode "Instinct," we see her not only back inside the Dollhouse, but face-to-face with Paul:

[Spoiler TV]

Ray Wise, whom you may remember as the smooth-talking Devil on Reaper has been cast as Howard, the previously-mentioned higher-up in the Dollhouse. [EW]

And, for good measure, here's a trio of promo images featuring Echo with a gun:

[Spoiler TV]

Lost

Another detail has emerged from the LAX set. An extra claims that it looks like Charlie has an overdose in the bathroom during what appears to be a pre-crash Flight 815. [Spoiler TV]

Katey Sagal is returning as Helen Norwood, Locke's one time girlfriend who supposedly died in 2006 of a brain aneurysm. Executive producer Carlton Cuse said he would like to find a way to bring back Julie Bowen as well, who played Jack's ex-wife Sarah. [TV Guide]

Reports from Hawaii indicate that the crew has been filming at the Dharma submarine dock, and many of the island's old sets are being set up again, including the Jughead tower, so we will be seeing a lot more old familiar places in addition to LAX. [The ODI]

From another set, one fan saw Michael Emerson, who plays Ben Linus, wearing a long gray trenchcoat and black pants, watching someone in the distance who is exiting a medical building. Eventually, it's clear the person leaving the building is non other than John Locke in his wheelchair. Locke appears very sad, keeping his head down as he wheels toward the street. Locke appears to be waiting for a ride, and sorrowfully watches a little boy playing with a red ball. The boy's ball rolls into the street and the boy runs after it, forcing an oncoming car to screech to a halt. Locke throws himself out of his chair and crawls toward the boy as if to save him, but the boy is fine and simply picks up his ball again and heads to the sidewalk. Ben watches the scene, then runs over to an angry Locke to help him back into his chair. [Lyly Ford]

Ian Somerhalder headed to Hawaii yesterday to film Boone's return. The only thing he could say is that he'll appear in several of the season's episodes. [EW]

True Blood

Chances are we'll see the Newlins in the third season (and they'll be pissed). Also Alan Ball softened Eric's image a bit in Season Two to make him seem viable as a love interest for Sookie. [Televisionary]

Stargate Universe

The producers are looking to cast an actress for the role of Kiva for a three-episode arc. Kiva will be the strong-willed commander of the Lucian Alliance, and will do whatever it takes to ensure her people's safety, even at the expense of the Destiny crew. [Spoiler TV]

Heroes

NBC has released the official synopsis for the season premiere:

Claire (Hayden Panettiere) struggles with adjusting to her new life in college when a mysterious death thrusts her into the spotlight once again. Elsewhere, Hiro (Masi Oka) and Ando (James Kyson Lee) continue their noble quest to help people by promoting their abilities. Angela (Cristine Rose) fears Nathan (Adrian Pasdar) will soon discover his true identity; while Matt (Greg Grunberg) is haunted by an unexpected visitor seeking something he has lost. Tracy Strauss (Ali Larter) and H.R.G. (Jack Coleman) join forces, looking for the key to unlock the motive behind a horrific crime. Meanwhile, Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) uses his abilities for good, but he is soon called upon to aid an old friend. While the heroes adjust to their new surroundings, a mysterious carnival clan, led by ringleader Samuel (Robert Knepper), sets their sights on familiar faces.

And Comic Book Resources has six video previews from the two-hour premiere:

[Comic Book Resources]

In the third episode, "Acceptance," Hiro will focus his attention on saving others' lives, while Angela helps Nathan try to remember his past and Tracy tries to get her job back. [Spoiler TV]

Fringe

Expect Leonard Nimoy's William Bell back on October 8th, but not in the flesh. Olivia will undergo an eerie procedure to flashback to her encounter with Bell in the alternate reality and try to understand the experiments Walter and Bell performed on her as a child. Also, we'll meet another one of Walter's guinea pigs, a young woman played by Theresa Russell. We'll also encounter actor Thomas Kretschmann, who plays a "cold-blooded antagonist" with a secret, which, once revealed, we won't soon forget. [TV Guide Magazine]

In the third episode "Fracture," the team surveys a messy crime scene and Olivia visits a bowling alley:

[Fringe Spoilers]

Eclipse

Taylor Lautner claims that Eclipse, which is being helmed by 30 Days of Night director David Slade, will be darker than the first two Twilight films, and will appeal more to male audiences. [MTV Movies Blog]

Smallville

In an interview with IESB, Callum Blue talks a little bit about his role as Zod. He mostly rehashes what he's said in previous interviews, but says that in the episodes he's filmed so far, he's cut off a person's head, but has yet to fly. [IESB]

Paranormal Activity

The Paranormal Activity poster promises the film will be the scariest viewing experience of your life:

[IGN]

FlashForward

The producers are looking to cast a bevy of actors for the ninth episode, mostly Japanese actors who can speak fluent Japanese. They're also looking to cast the recurring role of Gordon, a spineless but well-spoken supervisor, and the possibly recurring role of Frank, a former soldier from Ghana with a shady military past who now works at an LA branch of Home Depot. [Spoiler TV]

And two more TV promos for the series:

Eastwick

In the seventh episode, we'll meet Greta Noa, a Soho art dealer and close personal friend of the mephistophelean Darryl Van Horne. Darryl has asked Greta to come Eastwick to view Roxie's artwork, and Greta may have the power to change her life. [Spoiler TV]

The Vampire Diaries

Two clips have surfaced from tomorrow night's episode "The Night of the Comet:"

A new TV spot focusses on the relationship between Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried:

The Road:

A scathing review in the New York Post drops a few spoilers:

Mortensen, who shows his bare buttocks in two scenes and has an endless death scene, does his best with a largely one-dimensional role and Charlize Theron turns up in a few flashbacks as his late wife. Robert Duvall drops a few aphorisms in his two scenes as a 90-year-old wanderer and if you blink — or, more likely nod off — you'll miss Guy Pearce.

[NY Post]

Hancock 2:

Director Peter Berg tells us what to expect from this sequel:

We're looking at exploring their relationship prior to when we first met them and seeing a bit of what happened as a prequel. I think we danced around the concept of an origins and we settled on something that is very substantive. That will part of the sequel.

Lost:

More filming of scenes at Los Angeles airport — Ryan at Hawaii Weblog pieces together a few different sources to create a picture of the scene being filmed. Kate is at the airport, handcuffed in the custody of the Marshall. And then somehow she gets away from him and gets her handcuffs off. She runs down the stairs and says "Hey" to Hurley. And then she jumps the line at the taxi stand, causing Neil aka "Frogurt" to scream at her for stealing his cab. As her cab speeds away, the Marshall emerges from the terminal with a head injury. He runs up to airport personnel showing them Kate's picture and telling them to keep an eye open for her — then he sees the cab and runs after it. Meanwhile, Jack heads for the passport station, but changes his mind at the last minute and turns back. Also, Dr. Arzt was there, and rumor has it Claire (Emilie de Ravin) was on set as well. [Hawaii Weblog]

Here's a better look at the season six poster, showcasing all the old characters who will be coming back. [Doc Arzt]

Plus some new (ish) promo pics of Juliet and Hurley. [Lyly Ford]

Fringe:

The over-arching theme of season two is, "Your past is always about to catch up with you," Roberto Orci tells Sci Fi Magazine. And Leonard Nimoy will be in at least three episodes, but may do more. Nina Sharp will play a bigger role in season two, and we'll realize she knows a lot more about "the condition of the show" than we've been privy to so far.

Olivia will be having a crisis, and start questioning whether she should even be investigating these weird phenomena, after the terrible things she's discovered. The fact that Olivia may be developing superpowers is going to contribute to her ambivalence about which side she's on in the war. We'll also see more of Olivia's sister and niece. [Sci Fi Magazine via Fringe Television]

The studio sent out some screeners for the season two premiere, and they included a mysterious piece of paper which appeared to be a communication between two different parties: "TARGET TERMINATED IN FATAL CAR CRASH. MEETING PREVENTED. REQUEST EXTRACTION. NEGATIVE. MISSION FAILURE. MEETING OCCURRED. TARGET STILL ALIVE. REQUEST NEW ORDERS. INTEROGATE TARGET. THEN KILL HER." [Sci Fi Wire]

Orci also says we're going to see a crowd of Observers coming up in the seasons eighth episode:

You're gonna see more than one - this is an exclusive! You are going to see many Observers. [It's] going to tell you a lot about The Observers. You're going to find out their role in the world, what they're named after, and their connection to some of these characters.

And he says the fourth, eighth and 12th episodes will each provide more answers to die hard viewers. [TV Guide Magazine]

And a couple new promos:

FlashForward:

Here are some stills from episode 2, "White To Play," plus a few publicity shots of Simon and Olivia. [FlashForward.PL and FlashForward.PL]

And in that episode, Mark and Demetri head to Utah to track down a suspect who may be connected with the flashforwards. Meanwhile, Mark's wife Olivia runs into the man from her flashforward — the man that future Olivia was having an affair with. And Mark and Olivia's daughter, Charlie, is having difficulty coming to terms with her own flash-forward. [FlashForward.PL]

Also, Gabrielle Union plays Zoey, the fiancee of John Cho's character, Demetri. And she says we get to see her flashforward, and it's very life-affirming. [IESB]

Supernatural:

Here's the official description for episode 5x04, "The End" — and I'm guessing this is the one where we see the world of 2014 and Sarah Palin is president:

TWO DEAN WINCHESTERS? - Sam (Jared Padalecki) tells Dean (Jensen Ackles) he wants to rejoin Dean in the battle of the Apocalypse, but Dean tells Sam that they are better off apart. Later, Dean awakens five years in the future in an abandoned city and is attacked by humans who have been infected with a demonic virus that turns humans into Zombies. Zachariah (guest star Kurt Fuller) appears to Dean and explains that this is the world that exists as a result of Dean saying no to helping the angels fight Lucifer. Dean meets up with Future Dean, who tells him that the virus is the Devil's endgame for destroying mankind.

It's written by Ben "The Tick" Edlund, so you know it'll be weird. [SPNSite]

Smallville:

Promo pics from the second episode, "Metallo," show more of Clark's crazy black trenchcoat and Brian Austin Green's glowy chest thing. [OSCK]

And here's the official description of that episode:

After being struck by a truck, John Corben (guest star Brian Austin Green) wakes up alone in an abandoned apartment as a man-machine with a Kryptonite heart. Corben realizes he now has superhuman strength and sets out to exact revenge on the Red-Blue Blur, who he perceives to be an irresponsible vigilante. Against Clark's (Tom Welling) wishes, Lois (Erica Durance) involves herself in the Red-Blue Blur's investigation, and winds up getting kidnapped by Corben.

[KryptonSite]

And a press release for season nine:

After the events of last season, Clark takes on the mantle of protector of Metropolis, trading in his familiar red-and-blue for black-and-gray, sticking to the city's shadows and rooftops to become a solitary sentry simply known as "the Blur." While Clark wrestles with his identity, feeling forced to choose between his Kryptonian heritage and human past, he'll encounter even more powerful enemies and allies from across the DC Universe. This season will feature new and past nemeses, including Metallo (Brian Austin Green, "Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles"), the man with the Kryptonite heart; Roulette, a sexy mastermind; the return of Toyman; and the always-treacherous Zod (Callum Blue) as a young Major and leader of an invading alien army, who befriends fellow Kryptonian Clark just as his venomous side is beginning to emerge. This season will also feature an appearance by DC Comics' first all-star team of superheroes, the Justice Society of America, in an episode penned by renowned comic book writer Geoff Johns, who returns to the show after writing last year's fan favorite episode, "Legion."...

The season nine premiere takes place three weeks after Clark and Doomsday's epic battle. Obsessed with becoming the hero the world needs, Clark is now literally leaving his mark on Metropolis – having fully embraced his Kryptonian side in order to finish training with his father Jor-El, Clark has started wearing the iconic "S"-shield on his chest, and spreads the symbol around the city in an effort to give its people hope.

Whereas Clark is working alone, Chloe feels driven to reunite the disbanded Justice League. Her biggest challenge is Oliver Queen, who'd rather lose himself in underground fight clubs and drunken one-night stands. Oliver's friends will hatch a plan to bring him back from the edge. Reconnecting with the hero inside of him, Oliver will return with a renewed purpose, even searching out an apprentice in Mia Dearden, DC comics' teenaged sidekick "Speedy."

Clark and Oliver will find themselves caught up in a love triangle with Lois, as both men's passions begin to burn brightly for her. Returning from her trip through time, Lois starts experiencing nightmarish visions of the future. Could they come true? If so, one not-so-troubling image is playing itself over and over in her head – Lois and Clark locked in a romantic, erotic embrace. Meanwhile, Clark continues to be conflicted over his own feelings for Lois. As the sparks fly, Lois and Clark's relationship will deepen, leading to their first true kiss, and possibly something more.

Meanwhile, Clark and Chloe's relationship is starting to become strained. No longer content just being Clark's sidekick, Chloe uses Watchtower's powerful computers to spin her own web of influence and intrigue, manipulating people like chess pieces in the name of the greater good. But when Chloe begins to believe the ends justify the means, it sends her on a collision course with her friend and ally Clark.

When it comes to master manipulators, Tess Mercer has emerged as the rightful heir to Lex Luthor's legacy. Always inscrutable, Tess has her hands full this season with an army of Kryptonians, newly arrived from the lost city of Kandor and led by the infamous Zod. However, this incarnation of Zod is younger than the one we remember – he has yet to grow into the power-mad psychopathic dictator, General Zod. Season nine's Zod may only be a Major, but he's already a cunning strategist and charismatic leader who knows how to inspire his troops. But behind his magnetism and those piercing eyes, Zod is still very dangerous. When Zod and Clark eventually meet, Clark recognizes that if he can befriend his fellow Kryptonian, he might be able to influence Zod away from becoming an evil, twisted tyrant. While it's true this Major Zod has certain vulnerabilities, it may only take a handful of betrayals to turn him into Clark's deadly arch-nemesis.

Stargate Universe:

Robert Carlyle talks his character, Dr. Nicholas Rush, and explains why he found Rush such a compelling character to play. [Wired via SciFiScoop]

And in another interview, the show's cast talks about their fascination with science fiction and their feelings about stepping into an established universe. (Including some clips). [SyFy via Stargate-SG1-Solutions]

A new review of the pilot includes a fairly detailed synopsis:

General O'Neil (Richard Dean Anderson) and Dr. Rush recruit Eli Wallace to join the Stargate program when he solves an Ancient mathematical equation that was embedded in an online video game. They embark to the newly established Icarus base via the U.S.S. George Hammond (as Commanded by Amanda Tapping's Col. Carter), the latest in the Daedalus class ships. Wallace is given a crash course on the Stargate with some help from video recording by Michael Shank's Dr. Daniel Jackson! The ship arrives several light years from Earth at a planet with unique elemental properties needed to activate the gate (dismissing the theory that Icarus base was on the moon, sorry folks) and Wallace and Dr. Rush prepare to initiate the 9th Chevron. The base comes under attack from unknown forces (it is implied that the attackers are the Lucian Alliance, villains established late in the SG-1 series). The gate is activated and the base was to be evacuated back to Earth, but at the last moment Rush and Wallace figure out how to use the 9th Chevron (through some trial and error) and the evacuation happens just in the nick of time! The survivors find themselves onboard the Ancient Ship known as the Destiny, which was charged with traveling to the far reaches of the Universe. The ship was following another ship that traveled ahead to create and seed Stargates to new worlds for exploration. Using the Ancient Communication stones (established in SG-1) Dr. Rush is able to communicate back to Earth to let them know of the current situation. The more pressing problem is that the Destiny is falling apart and is in need of repair. Supplies are low and there is no way to change the ship's course. Now Rush and the crew are along for the ride into worlds unknown. In order to fix the air purification system, a team is dispatched through the gate to search for limestone. But time is short as the ship will jump back into Faster Than Light Travel after a certain amount of time.

So just how sexy will this new cast be? Behold a bevy of promo pics, most of which I'm pretty sure are new. [SpoilerTV]

True Blood:

Eric will keep trying to get under Sookie's skin in season three, says Alan Ball. And here's what else to expect next year:

We'll meet the Vampire King of Mississippi, Russell Edgington. And we'll encounter werewolves for the first time in the flesh; we've heard about them, but we'll meet them. I'm very excited about the character of Debbie Pelt. She's bad news... Debbie Pelt is the ex-girlfriend of a guy who's helping Sookie try to find Bill, and she is just hard ass, white trash bitch on wheels. She's so much fun. But there are other great characters, too. Everybody is struggling with identity in season three – What am I? Who am I? What is my life? Is it what I want it to be? How do I make it what I want it to be? What are my real values? And some people are like, "Am I human? I always thought I was, but maybe I was wrong." In one particular case, its like, "Yes, honey, you were wrong."

[TV Squad]

Eastwick:

Here's the official synopsis for episode two, "Reaping And Sewing":

As Eastwick prepares for its annual fall HarvestFest, Joanna, Kat and Roxie's lives continue to take a turn for the strange. Distracted by distressing psychic visions of her new neighbor, Jamie, Roxie struggles to protect Mia from harassment by her ex-boyfriend, Gus (Christian Alexander). As Kat gains the courage to end her own toxic relationship - her marriage to Raymond — he's back in their home to recuperate from being struck by lightning. And while Joanna worries that Will's romantic attentions are only due to her hypnotic power, she and Penny embark on a perilous mission to uncover Darryl Van Horne's true identity. Joanna finds Milton Philmont (Martin Mull), a retired Gazette reporter who years ago wrote about the death of a man named Sebastian Hart - a man who looks uncannily like a young Darryl Van Horne. Armed with an old photo of Hart with three beautiful women, she and Penny seek answers from the eccentric and reclusive Eleanor Rougement (Cybil Shepherd)

[SpoilerTV]

And here are some pics from that episode. [Eastwick Fans]

<![CDATA[Vampire Diaries Actresses Arrested For Roadside Topless "Filming"]]> Four actresses from the CW's new Vampire Diaries were arrested for flashing drivers in Georgia but claim it was all for the show, since they had one cameraman with them. Really? We speculate potential dramatics explaining said "vampire flashing" scene.

According to WSBTV the four actresses and the cameraman were all arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after "dangling" off a Georgia overpass and flashing oncoming traffic:

Several drivers called 911 on Aug. 22 to report seeing the young women flashing drivers on I-75 from the side of the Rumble Road overpass just north of Macon. The women told Monroe County authorities they were just filming for the show.

Call me crazy, but one cameraman does not a crew make. Plus, don't TV productions normally close down streets for filming? I'd assume it'd be a closed set when there's nakedness involved. But let's say it was real... What do we you think the flashing scene entailed?

Me, I'd like to think the epic fighting between ancient vampire brothers reached an all time blood bath and the mild mannered one (Stefan, not evil brother Damon, because his name is Damon so, hello, evil) is strewn out across the road, beaten and bloodied and about to die with the rising of the sun. See, in Vampire Diaries the brothers have MAGIC RINGS which allow them to walk in the sun, sparkle-free, but in this instance he's lost his ring in the battle with his brother. As Stefan slowly embraces his eventual death, the local High School Girls appear. Thankfully, they've been told that the power of flashing will bring his strength back, just like clapping for Tinkerbell.

See? They're flashing to save his life, so it's not cheap or silly or a terrible recreation of that one time in the Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sister Pajamas or something. It's totally unique and empowering, and not just a camera guy who convinced them all to flash the road after a location night out. Or, you know, maybe not.

Great PR stunt Vampire Diaries smiley mugshots are hilarious facebook pics, but if real, and I doubt it, I'd like to meet these "get those damn kids off my bridge" narks.

<![CDATA[America's Teens Love The Vampires]]> Blame it on the Twilight effect, or maybe just an otherwise-dull night on other channels, but the CW's premiere of The Vampire Diaries wasn't just successful... it was the most successful new show premiere in the network's history.

To be fair, that title comes with the proviso that the CW is only three years old, and much of its programming was inherited from the WB and UPN, but nonetheless, there's no way that network bosses can be disappointed with the 4.8 million viewers that tuned in to watch the start of the teen vamp saga, which helped the network to their most successful viewing figures in the female 18-34 demographic ever. What it didn't help, however, was Supernatural, which saw an 18% drop in viewership when compared to last year's season premiere. A sign that the Winchester brothers' story is winding up at the right time, or that Smallville was a better lead-in for the show than CW bosses had reckoned? Time - and ratings for next week's Smallville premiere - will tell.

<![CDATA[What's Science Fiction's Answer To Paranormal Romance?]]> Face it, genre fans — paranormal romance rules the world. Twilight conquered books and movies, and now Campire... sorry, Vampire Diaries is on television. What should science fiction's version of a love story about vampires (or werewolves, or demons) be?

Of course there's always this:

<![CDATA[Discover Tony Stark's New Ride, and Fringe's Interdimensional War]]> Iron Man 2 gets a swanky new car, while Zombieland teaches us the importance of cardiovascular exercise. Fringe's alternate universe prepares for war, and we meet one of Dollhouse's high-ranking employees. Plus, Splice, Heroes, New Moon, Smallville, Superman/Batman, and FlashForward.

Zombieland

Dollhouse

In the sixth episode, we will meet Howard Lipman, an intelligent higher up in the Dollhouse with a big sense of humor. He will probably be a recurring character. [Spoiler TV]

Splice

Brendon Connelly at /Film has seen a clip from the genetic engineering thriller. Says Connelly:

The scene we were treated to comes from an early moment in the story. Clive and Elsa, as played by Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley, are a young couple who also work together trying to create new life forms from animal DNA. They won't use anything lifted from the human genome for ethical reasons, but everything else is fair game. At this moment, they've created something, their most advanced 'something' so far and it's incubating in the lab.

Clive decides that it should be terminated while Elsa disagrees. What follows is the unveiling of the creature, and a tense scene in a lab wherein the little critter tries to avoid termination.

Fringe

Executive producer Roberto Orci says in the eighth episode, we'll see many Observers and learn a lot about them and their role in the world. He also says that the fourth, eighth, and twelfth episodes will be important to the Observers and the show's larger continuity. [TV Guide]

These set photos come from a scene in which a police officer falls off a parking garage, with a stuntman playing the role of the ill-fated cop:

[CinemaSpy]

Orci talks a bit more about the coming season and Leonard Nimoy in the October issue of SciFi Magazine:

[Fringe Television]

This series is heavily featured in Entertainment Weekly's Fall TV preview issue, out now. Season two, episode five is filming in the grounds of a semi-defunct mental hospital, and it's about a guy who believes his boss is an evil ram-horned creature in disguise. This season, Olivia will get super-hearing. Astrid has a scene with a bottle of leeches and a blender.

And the over-arching weirdness in season two will come from the idea that an army from the alternate universe has declared war on our reality. The people from "over there" will be putting the final pieces of their invasion plan in place. To that end, the alternate universe will recruit a super-spy played by Thomas Kretschmann. [EW]

Heroes

The producers are looking to cast an East Indian girl, age 10-13, for the tenth episode. She will be a student in India, very engaged with her lesson. [Spoiler TV]

Amanda Tapping has said that production on an SG-1 movie could go into production later this year, once the first season of Stargate Universe wraps. If that's the case, Martin Wood would direct the movies. Tapping will appear in SGU's premiere. [Spoiler TV]

FlashForward

In the first few episodes, we'll only see snippets of characters' flashforwards, but they'll be fleshed out throughout the season. Joseph Fiennes' character, FBI agent Mark Beford will have a scene with daughter where he rolls and egg toward her and says in an English accent: "As Eggbert Eggbottom the Third, I would
like to egg-spress my desire for you to eat oatmeal this morning. Can I get a 'cluck-cluck?" and the egg shortly falls on the floor. John Cho's character Demetri Noh is about to get married when everyone has their flashforward and, since he doesn't have one, begins to wonder if he should break off the engagement. [EW]

Smallville

In the final moment of the season premiere, we'll find out how Lois is the key to Clark's journey. [EW]
