I'm loving this season even more than last season, which was great. Hatred is growing on me too; it takes skill to make a reformed child molester sympathetic, and the irony of him being Hank and Dean's bodyguard (without incessant jokes about him perving on them, no less) is damned good storytelling. I also like the fact Hank and Dean are actually growing up and changing, something you don't see in many animated series.
In terms of Brock, I'm kinda glad he's not in the spotlight any more. He has always kind of annoyed me a bit because he seemed too cool to exist in this universe. I'm glad to see he's been taken down a few pegs--getting fat and lazy, etc. Also, he has always been the most one-dimensional character in the series, in my opinion, and I like to see him being fleshed out more.
My main gripe with the series is that there aren't enough female characters. They don't have to be beauty queens or super-brains either; just average girls and women would be nice. Other than Dr. Girlfriend, the female characters they do have they rarely make use of except as foils. What's up with Triana Orpheus, for example? I'd like to see her start getting into her dad's arcane arts. I'd also like to see Dr. Quymn and her bunch return. #venturebros
Alright you guys. I'm late on this but I just watched it. I'm saddened no one has pointed that Bowie/the Soverign's lair is Logans apt from Logans Run. #venturebros
@Garrison Dean: R.O.A.C.H.: I formally retire nerd card. I'll leave my badge and gun on the desk when I leave the room, next to my xkcd clippings. #venturebros
obviously they're withholding samson from us until the injustice that was samson loosing in a biggest badass contest is rectified. much like iran there is but one course for us now, we must declare samson the rightful winner regardless of the so-called polls. #venturebros
My favorite scene in this episode was when David Bowie points out that Dean is the actual heir to the title "Sovereign". I loved their allusion to John Boorman's Excalibur. #venturebros
I remember watching the pilot for Fringe and not being really intrigued passed that, going as far as dismissing it as an X-Files for people not old enough to remember X-Files.
BUT... I've heard nothing but good from lots of people since then and really should rent the first season and play catch up. And I was already spoiled on the season 1 finale and that got me really intrigued to go watch it. It's on my Netflix queue. #television
Dollhouse. The first 5/6 episodes last season were horrendous and I stopped watching. Season 2 rolled around, and I'm still missing it since I don't want to buy the season 1 DVD yet, and Hulu took most of season 1 down before I could give it another go, and now it's canceled. That and I still can't get the bad taste of the first few eps out of my mouth. Yuck!
Besides Dollhouse, I've been an on-again/off-again viewer of Venture Bros., and I won't get into the current season until I watch (and make sense of) the entire preceding series. Unlike Dollhouse, it won't get canceled but it'll take 2 years for another season to roll out.
@RexMaximus: When you do get the Dollhouse DVD (or if you can get an episode some other way [en.wikipedia.org] ), start with the 'Unaired Original Pilot' (on the 4th disc as an extra [en.wikipedia.org] ), it will make then trawling through the (very) broken first five tolerable (try playing spot-the-scene, as the 'Pilot' gets chopped up and dropped, piece by piece, into the first five, it'll help to distract you), 'til Whedon starts to get a grip on it (and Fox's 'network's notes') in 'Man on the Street'.
It actually manifests some drive and pace and you get enough of a hint of how it might have played out to keep you going until runs up to the unaired 13th episode 'Epitaph One' (also on the 4th disc as an extra).
It looks like there may be more of the good stuff coming up.
Glau's character's physical appearance [io9.com] gives a big hint as to where it might be going at the end and the recent viral [io9.com] (warning! contains my ludicrously speculative and possibly spoilery comment) hints as to the bigger backstory that's leading there.
With all but 2 of the remaining 9 already filmed [io9.com] , it'll be up to Whedon to pull out the stops for the finale.
To miss-quote the Dushku "If you've already failed, for fuck's sake fail big!". #television
@SJ_Edwards: Thanks. If I get into Netflix for PS3, Dollhouse + "Unaired Pilot" will be one of the first things I'll get in the mail/stream. #television
Fringe! I watched the entire first season and this one... until the baseball hiatus. And I haven't watched an episode since it's been back.
I think it's only one or two episodes to catch up on.
And I stopped DVRing FlashForward two weeks ago. I don't want to find myself five seasons in with no more answers than I have today. THOUGH, I accidentally stumbled upon a huge spoiler online. #television
Flash Forward. I always tell myself I'm gonna go on Hulu today and start watching it, but then I never do. Instead I watch SGU or Fringe or V. #television
@TickMan: Nope, they block it in Canada because of either competition from Teletoon or (apparently) Canada is a pirate haven, which is weird 'cuz I thought we were more ninjas. Hulu doesn't work either. #television
I feel guilty for keeping up with Heroes. At this pace they're going to cancel all the shows I actually enjoy and the damn thing will still stay on #television
@Dirk Anger: Wow, Heroes is just everybody's whipping boy, ain't it?
Of course, it's their own damn fault. The first season was the second best adaptation of Watchmen I've ever seen (first is the Incredibles, and yes I'm being contrarian here), and then they literally lost the plot. #television

This show scares me to the bone. Every time I have fallen in love this deeply, something happens that leaves me broken for a couple years.
Just, just warn me this time, okay Universe? #venturebros
