I've been craving a wonder woman movie ever since Joss said he was going to take a stab at it. Since he turned it down, let's see what someone else did - I'm going straight out to buy it based on this review! Of course, if it sucks (which, from your description I doubt it will) I'm completely blaming io9 and will be snarky and vengeful for a week. Possibly a month.

@Heresiarch: Fair enough, maybe I could have been more clear on that point. Basically, I just think there's a danger the Greek stuff either feels a bit ridiculous (this slightly happens when Zeus and Hera show up at the start) or a bit dull (Hippolyta can sometimes be a bit too serene and stately). Also, it can raise some tricky questions about just how the metaphysics of the DCU work, which is always a bit of a theological nightmare.

Not saying it's a huge issue, but I would say it requires deft handling. Which this movie has. Hopefully it's now a bit clearer.
