What was X-Files writer, director and producer Chris Carter thinking with this latest movie? In X-Files 2, TMI Is Out There

I had high hopes for the reunion of my two favorite scifi FBI agents in X-Files: I Want To Believe. Unfortunately the conspiracy-busters are too bogged down in tedious relationship drama to make time for much actual investigating. Too often, overwrought dialog waters down those great, make-you-want-to-whistle-the-theme-song moments. And it doesn't even develop Mulder and Scully in an interesting way: the only information we share is how big the top secret file in Mulder's pants is, and what our super agents are "feeling." X-Files Movie Proves Some Things Are Better Left Buried, Say Critics

The first early reviews of the new X-Files movie have shown up online... and they're not encouraging. Phrases like "Where's the action?" and "nothing more than an extended episode of the TV series" are being bandied about. But the truly horrifying part is the explanation of Billy Connolly's weird character — the one with the funny eyes in the trailers. Click through for spoilers and downers. More »

It's good news for people who miss the TV show. In fact, if you have a CD of Mark Snow's theme music playing while reading it, it's very good news indeed. More »

New Hints About What Mulder And Scully Are Searching For

If X-Files: I Want To Believe does as well as everyone's hoping, you can expect to see a third movie about the paranomal-investigating FBI agents in two or three years, writer/producer Frank Spotnitz told a crowd at the LA Film Festival yesterday. Too bad the general public is barely aware of the movie's existence so far, thanks to a lackluster marketing campaign. But by the July 25 release date, "everyone will know about this movie," Spotnitz said. Meanwhile, the writers and stars dropped a few new spoilers, and showed some mildly spoilery footage. More X-Files Movies On The Way?

Some new pics from paranoid FBI conspiracy movie X-Files: I Want To Believe have come out, and they show more of Billy Connolly's terrible case of pinkeye. If the prospect of Billy freaking out isn't enough to convince you to drag all your friends to the new X-Files movie, then there's this: If the film does well, star David Duchovny says he's all set to make plenty more. X-Files Movie Brings Us a Conflicted, Bitter Scully

The English language version of that Russian X-Files: I Want To Believe trailer we showed you yesterday has gone up, and the actual dialog gives way more of a clue as to what's going on in this film. In particular, the hints that Scully's religious faith might be tested seem to have some weight to them. And Scully also says she's tired of chasing monsters in the dark. (Which means she's also tired of life, because really, what else is there?) [Sci Fi Heaven]

Frozen Bodies and Bad Guys in Russian X-Files Trailer

The Russian trailer for the X-Files: I Want To Believe shows it's a cold, cold assignment for Agent Mulder and Agent Scully. Most of the action involves snowy woods, where characters are either digging through the snow and ice or dragging victims over the icy tundra. The foreign trailer — where you'll hear the Russian pronunciation of "Mulder" and "Scully" — also gives us a few glimpses of Amanda Peet as Special Agent Dakota Whitney, a few frozen kiddies, and a very watery shot of Callum Keith Rennie (yay!). My spidey sense says he's gonna be a bad, bad man in this movie.

Scully Spills What She's Missed About Mulder

Mulder and Scully are back solving creepy mysteries in this new X-Files: I Want to Believe trailer that just appeared online. And there are two new viral videos that appear to be brief therapy-like sessions of Mulder discussing his feelings about Scully, and vice versa. As for me, "I want to believe" that this time these two will get married, move to the suburbs, buy a pair of chocolate labs, pop out a few kids and solve crimes from their basement. Click through for the therapy videos and minor spoilers. More »
