Bravest Warriors, the Youtube show originally created by Adventure Time's Pendleton Ward, has had 17 million views online since it launched. But also, the Bravest Warriors' dimension-jumping pet Catbug has launched a series of short ebooks — and next month, Letters from Catbug will be free at Starbucks.
According to Crains New York, Catbug will be Starbucks' "Pick of the Week" for a week starting April 15, allowing free download of the e-book in 11,000 Starbucks stores.
Though Frederator [Books] will be giving the books away, the pick of the week program provides the fledgling publisher with a rare chance to expand its readership. "What would it cost if you tried to reach customers in 11,000 Starbucks stores if you had to pay for that?" asked David Wilk, publisher of Frederator Books. "This is by far more efficient than advertising or any other way we could ever use to reach a spectacularly valuable customer base."
So if you happen to be in a Starbucks in the third week of April, look around to see if people are giggling weirdly to themselves — they'll be reading about Catbug!
