Rumor patrol: Is Eminem really playing Batman 3's Riddler? Plus Ridley Scott talks about the Alien prequel's big questions!Ridley Scott will be digging deep into the nasty origins of the aliens for his prequel. Duncan Jones talks Source Code, director Mark Romanek explains why Never Let Me Go doesn't feel scifi, and some awesomely convoluted Transformers rumors. Spoilervana!

Alien Prequel:

Ridley Scott explains the central questions his two-part, 3-D prequel will address:

"The film will be really tough, really nasty. It's the dark side of the moon. We are talking about gods and engineers. Engineers of space. And were the aliens designed as a form of biological warfare? Or biology that would go in and clean up a planet?"

Batman 3:

This rumor tore up the internet over the weekend, but it's already been denied. No, rapper Eminem will not be playing the Riddler, and he denied even so much as having had expressing interest in the part. [Gossip Cop]

Tron Legacy:

Here's another new poster, this time from Japan: [/Film]

Source Code:

The first image from Duncan Jones's second film, after Moon, has been released, along with an interview with the director:

"On this one I've got four really talented actors - Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga, Jeffrey Wright. It's a new test, a new experience...[Gyllenhaal plays] a military man who wakes up on a train not knowing how he got there. Before he gets a chance to work it out, things change in such a dramatic way, he doesn't know whether the train's real or not...When it was brought to me it was serious, quite cerebral, dark and depressing, My take was, 'This could actually be quite fun...'"

Never Let Me Go:

An early review stresses how the production design subtly brings out the notion that everything's decaying and soon about to end. It also mentions how the film lacks any explicit science fiction elements, and quotes director Mark Romanek on this topic:

"I never wanted it to be a science-fiction film in terms of its being fantastical. I wanted it to be relatable. We said, 'Let's make a science-fiction film that doesn't have any tangible science fiction in it.'"

The Night Chronicles:

We've learned a bit more about the second and third films in M. Night Shyamalan's trilogy of films where he comes up with the idea but doesn't direct. After the first entry, Devil, the second film will concern a jury deliberating over a supernatural trial, which Shyamalan likens to 12 Angry Men except, you know, supernatural. Last Exorcism director Daniel Stamm is thought to be in line to direct this one. [MTV Movies Blog]

As for the third film, Shyamalan says he will be using a villainous character and certain plot points he originally devised for Unbreakable 2. Shyamalan explains:

"I cannibalized the idea for the sequel to 'Unbreakable' for one of the 'Night Chronicles. It was such a cool idea for a villain, and it was actually originally in the script for 'Unbreakable,' and it was too much. There were too many villains, so I pulled this villain out and was like, 'I'll make this the second flick.' I fleshed it out more and more, and thought, 'This could be a standalone movie.' I'll just say it: the third 'Night Chronicles' movie is what would have been the sequel [to 'Unbreakable']. So now I need to come up with a new idea." [The Splash Page]

Tomorrow, When the War Began:

Australia may have its own Red Dawn, except this one is apparently...what's the word?...oh yes, good. The film follows a group of six teenagers who return from a camping trip to find their small town of Wirrawee deserted and in disarray, as an unnamed Coalition of nations has invaded Australia and put the townsfolk in a prison camp. The movie involves "a series of shoot-outs, car chases and explosions at a breakneck pace", although it remains emotionally faithful to the original source material, a series of books by Australian author John Marsden. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Transformers 3:

The reasoning behind this rumor is fairly involved, but the short version is that Seymour Simmons is probably fabulously wealthy in the new film. [Check out the full explanation at TFW2005]

Still, that's nothing compared to this analysis of which Transformer a large fire truck spotted on the Chicago set might be. There are apparently five options, depending on who or what you believe: Rodimus Prime, Sentinel Prime, Ultra Magnus, Inferno, or it's just a regular heavy-duty fire truck. Smallville:

The CW has released a lengthy press release detailing a lot of what lies ahead in the tenth season. There's no way we can quote (or even summarize) it all, but here's the first couple of paragraph to get you started:

The end of the beginning starts here. Taking flight in its tenth and final season, this modern retelling of a hero's legendary origins continues to blend realism, action, heart and humor as Clark Kent (Tom Welling) soars toward claiming his birthright.

Clark has emerged from his darkest hour, only to find the path to his destiny blocked by ghosts from the past — shadows in the present tempting Clark toward the darkness at every turn. Despite insurmountable odds, is Clark strong enough to step into the light and claim his rightful place as Earth's mightiest protector?

There's plenty more at the link. [SpoilerTV]

And here's the synopsis for the season premiere, "Lazarus":

The season premiere picks up where the finale left off. Lois finds Clark's lifeless body and removes the blue kryptonite enabling him to heal himself. Lois sneaks away before Clark fully awakens in order to protect his secret. Chloe is desperate to find Oliver, so she turns to an unlikely source for answers. Jonathan returns to the Kent Farm with a message for Clark, and Tess awakens in a LuthorCorp lab.
