After months and months of hints, Dwayne Johnson has finally confirmed he's starring in DC's Shazam movie. Note: He did not confirm he's actually playing Shazam, the superhero formerly known as Captain Marvel — because he's unsure whether he wants to play the hero or his archenemy Black Adam.
The Rock told the AP that "he has always been a fan of anti-heroes and said one of his favorite DC Comics characters is Black Adam." But I have to imagine Warner Bros./DC would much, much prefer Johnson take the role of the hero and title character, and will keep adding zeroes on his contract until Johnson agrees. Regardless of what the Rock prefers, WB/DC is trying to start a Shazam franchise, not a Black Adam franchise — casting a bankable movie star as the hero is a pretty key component of that.
