Your favorite heroes are given the portrait treatment they all so justly deserve. Mondo Gallery is hosting a showing of Mike Mitchell portrait work, and we've got a little sneak look of what's to come. Couldn't all of your walls use a little MacReady?
Here's a collection of just a few of the Mitchell works that will be on display, and available for purchase over at Mondo Gallery April 26th through May 25th.
"Thomas was an anomaly compared to the rest. I'm not a huge fan of the movie as a whole, but the character has an aesthetic that's interesting and inspiring. Obviously Bowie can make anything cool, but the story behind Thomas was something I enjoyed, and that amazing red hair had to be captured."
"I wanted to do a Kurt Russell portrait, and I had a really hard time figuring out which one to do. Snake Plissken is amazing and so is Jack Burton, but in the end I went with MacReady because it allowed me a chance to do something different. There was also a severe lack of awesome beards in the show, and he helps fill that void. The beard void."
"I had already started working on the show when we watched Dredd and I knew within 10 minutes that I was going to have to include him. He's just so iconicly badass and the movie sort of slipped under the radar. I wanted to show my appreciation for what I thought was a totally original and refreshing movie, and Karl Urban's performance."
