For a movie that's supposed to be driven underground by copyright threats, Watchmen isn't exactly laying low.
A new teaser trailer, promotional poster (right) and iTunes webisode emerged this week. While the poster plays off of the smiley face motif so familiar graphic novel fans, the trailer reveals a lot of spectacular new images. Jenna Wortham revealed the trailer in her post, and a higher-resolution version is online here.
Meanwhile, the third installment of the animated web comic of Watchmen arrived on Amazon on Demand and iTunes Tuesday. In this chapter, "As the world braces for what could be a doomsday scenario between the United States and Russia, Laurie leaves Dr. Manhattan and goes to Dan for consoling. Meanwhile, the national media puts Dr. Manhattan under scrutiny, linking him to a rash of cancer deaths, and forcing him to escape to the planet Mars." The fourth part hits the cyber-shelf the week of Nov. 3.
Let 20th Century Fox and its squadron of lawyers bite down on that — hard.
