Is Marvel really going after Johnny Depp to star in Doctor Strange?

Could Josh Holloway be one of the DC superheroes we're meeting in Batman Vs. Superman? And we've learned one thing the next three Avatar movies will have in common with the first. Emily Bett Rickards hints that Arrow may be revealing some of Felicity's past. And Meaghan Rath reveals the theme for Being Human's fourth season. Plus, even more Ant-Man casting news! Spoilers now!

Batman Vs. Superman

A source tells Comic Book Movie that Josh Holloway is being "strongly considered" for a role in the Man of Steel sequel. What role he's up for hasn't been revealed, but the speculation, based pretty much only on what Holloway looks like, is that he'd fit really well as Aquaman. [Comic Book Movie]

Ant-Man

Michael Pena has reportedly been offered a role in Ant-Man and wants to take it. All we know is that he's not being offered either Hank Pym or Scott Lang, since those are already taken. [Slashfilm]

Following the announcement that he'd be playing Hank Pym, Michael Douglas explained why he took the role, saying:

I've been dying to do a Marvel picture for so long. The script is really fun, the director is really good. Dylan [the actor's 13-year-old son] will love it. He'll have a picture he can see. Sometimes — like (when) they didn't see you for Liberace — you've got to shake them up a little bit and have some fun.

Doctor Strange

Latino Review quotes unnamed sources as saying that Johnny Depp has met with Marvel about playing the title role in a Doctor Strange movie. Honestly, there's no way of knowing if this is a good idea or not. On the one hand, he could make the over-the-top parts inherent to a character who is known as the Sorcerer Supreme really work. On the other hand: The Lone Ranger. In any case, take this with all the grains of salt until we get more confirmation. [Film School Rejects]

Avatar

This isn't a huge surprise, given all that we've heard about the plot so far, but Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington will reprise their roles in all three of the Avatar sequels. [Coming Soon]

Arrow

Emily Bett Rickards described, in very general terms, what we can expect the rest of this season to look like:

Lot more action, some crazy stunts I've been hearing about, just crazy stunts, people getting ‑‑ not hurt, but almost hurt on set. And really, really intricate choreography for that. So we got that. We have some new characters and villains coming in, some taste testers of some other DC characters that will be awesome, I think a lot of people will like, and different characters crossing paths, which I think is needed. And we follow a story in "Arrow," and we get to see an ensemble of characters, but not all those characters have met. So it will be really fun, and it is really fun to have those characters sort of cross paths and those stories get created.

She did get a little more specific when asked about Felicity's past:

I didn't get a whole lot, but yes, I have heard a few things about her family that will probably arise within the end of the second season.

[TV Line]

Stephen Amell's delivering a similar refrain regarding Oliver's changing relationship with Felicity, saying:

That relationship is really moving in a new direction. It's one of those things where, guys do this all the time, you don't realize the depths and levels of your feelings for someone until someone else likes them.

Supernatural

Executive producer Jeremy Carver addressed a little bit about what's in store for Castiel, now that he's stolen another angel's grace:

Well, I think the most important thing about Cas is the idea that he has a grace at all and that he's back in the fray. He's going to be back in the fray in a way that maybe he never expected or asked for. The idea of having taken another angel's grace [is] certainly something that we've never dealt with before, and I feel like most times, when we introduce something that's a slight wrinkle or a new take on our lore, there normally is an explanation or a consequence as it were, and that might just be the case with Cas as well. The immediate thing being that he is an angel again. The consequence that I'm speaking of here is that he is – I'm repeating myself – back in the fray even more than he's expected.

He also gave a short answer to the question about the fallout to Kevin's death:

Well, let me say this: We've established that when one prophet goes down, another prophet is activated, so let me just say, we deal with that. We address that.

[Entertainment Weekly]

Speaking to TV Guide, Carver also previewed a few of the upcoming standalone episodes:

We have an episode [airing Jan. 28] where we finally get an answer to where Garth [DJ Qualls] has been. We're going to have an episode where the boys are working a case that seems to have been hijacked by The Ghostfacers. We are going to have a few episodes that dive into some really juicy history regarding the Men of Letters and we're going to meet some great overall characters that were associated with the Men of Letters back in the day.

[TV Guide]

Carver also warned viewers to watch Gadreel and Metatron carefully, saying:

We need to watch the Gadreel story as it unfolds, without getting too far ahead of ourselves… There's no reason to take [Metatron's offer to Gadreel to get his name back] as anything other than truth. We're only going to learn more pieces of Gadreel's background as we move forward into the end of the season.

And finally, Carver addresses the situation that Crowley will find himself in this season:

Crowley will have a very important role. We have just started to scratch the surface with Crowley that we started to introduce at the end of last year in terms of this King of Hell who is finding himself fighting to hold onto his kingdom, but also struggling with this feeling he experienced last year of being human. It's a very confusing and complex place for him to be in, and Mark Sheppard has done a wonderful job with it. It's that central conflict for Crowley that drives him through the rest of the season in really interesting ways.

Sleepy Hollow

Orlando Jones is being cagey about his character's alignment, pointing out that anyone could be evil on this show. He said:

I know everybody has this idea — am I good, am I evil? — but I point out to people that you don't know if Ichabod is good or evil either, you just think you know. This is the best example: Andy Brooks, played by the wonderful John Cho, is in theory evil. But he has a crush on Abbie, and he died but he's still alive on the show as an agent of Moloch who kinda helps us but then kinda helps him. I don't know if you call that a good character or an evil character, because he's playing both sides of the fence. So with that as an example, I don't think anybody can be too comfortable about what they think. That's the best part of it.

Teen Wolf

Arden Cho said that, although Kira will be spending time with everyone, one particular character will be taking an interest in her:

Kira definitely has interactions with a little bit of everybody. It's funny because Derek kind of gets involved too and I don't know if it's appropriate, but he's kind of like the papa bear. He kind of looks out for everybody, you know what I mean? In a weird way. He's got Scott's back, so he kind of gets involved too.

American Horror Story

FX president John Landgraf stated that he believes that the next season of American Horror Story will be a period piece and "most" of the cast will return. [SpoilerTV]

Being Human

According to Meaghan Rath, the theme for for season 4 is "Everything happens for a reason." Rath also previewed how, for Sally, this season is all about what happened with Donna, saying:

Because of the newfound powers that I have, I revisit the past in a special way.

Sam Witwer gave a little more detail about Sally's trips to the past:

For her to be visiting certain places, certain times in people's lives, you really do get to put together a whole picture of who these people are, what are their issues, and what do they need to have resolved eventually. So thematically, it's a really interesting ability for her to have. And it also allows for us to build up a history for audience members who maybe aren't as familiar with earlier seasons. But if they do know them, it will continually enhance that back story.

Witwer also says that Aidan's going dark this season:

The overall arc for Aidan is, does this guy deserve any kind of redemption, ultimately? We're gonna see some pretty villainous parts of him. We think we've seen that before, we haven't really. We haven't seen some of the darker stuff from this guy just yet. He's also funnier. So, he's darker and he'll hurt you, but he'll make a funny quip when he does it. The character has evolved to a point where he is the closest to human that he will ever get.

Grimm

Anne Dudek will guest star in an upcoming episode called "Once We Were Gods." She'll play Professor Vera Gates, an archaeology professor who's excited to study a 3,000-year-old sarcophagus. The sarcophagus will have a carving of Anubis, as opposed to the typical sarcophagus pharaoh carving.

Keith David will also be guest starring. He'll play Hedig in "The Show Must Go On." Hedig will be a circus ringmaster, determined to do whatever it takes to make the best show possible. [The Hollywood Reporter via SpoilerTV]
