J.R.R. Tolkien biopic will explore the origins of Middle EarthS

It's no surprise that Peter Jackson's Hobbit movies won't be film's final word on J.R.R. Tolkien, and a new project focuses on the writer himself. The tentatively titled Tolkien will examine how the events in Tolkien's life impacted his writing.

The LA Times broke the story that Fox Searchlight and Peter Chernin’s Chernin Entertainment are developing Tolkien, based on a screenplay by David Gleeson. The script goes through Tolkien's life, including his time at Pembroke College and his service during World War I, and how those experiences informed his writing of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

However, the LA Times notes that it does not know whether the film is being developed with cooperation of Tolkien's estate, so we will have to see if the estate is involved and whether it has approved the biopic. In the meantime, who would you like to see play Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and other figures from Tolkien's life?
