The most intriguing new guest star in the new Star Trek movie isn't a person at all, but the U.S.S. Kelvin, the doomed ship that's showcased in the trailer. It's the first new bit of Starfleet ship design we've seen in ages — and it takes some getting used to. Luckily, Intel's new Trek tie-in site includes a handy feature that lets you look at the Kelvin from all angles, and even prod it a bit. Screenshots below.

Basically, you can rotate the Kelvin 360 degrees on two axes, although you can't quite manage both axes at once. It gives a you a good sense of exactly how this ship works, with the smaller nacelle (complete with navigational deflector) on top, and the bigger nacelle on bottom. It's definitely growing on me, just in time to get blown up by the Romulans. A few features, like the Bridge, phaser turrets and navigational deflector, pop up with bits of info and vague technical specs. I hope they add more of that stuff soon — I want to know where the engine room is, and the shuttlecraft bay. [Boldly Go at Intel]
