You may have noticed that DC Comics is audaciously <a href="http://io9.com/5807156/dc-comics-renumbering-every-dcu-title-back-to-1-come-september">canceling their entire superhero line</a> and restarting it with 52 first issues come September. Details about this relaunch are still fairly murky, but here's a primer on what we do know. <a href="http://io9.com/5811314/what-you-need-to-know-about-that-huge-dc-comics-relaunch" title="Click here to read more about Why is DC Comics canceling and restarting all its superhero lines?">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

DC Entertainment announced today that they would be moving their multimedia operations to Los Angeles while leaving their wing in Manhattan. The reason? Among several things, to devote a greater focus on DC-branded movies. <strong>UPDATE:</strong> The Wildstorm line is ending. <a href="http://io9.com/5644045/dc-moving-its-entertainment-wing-to-la-to-focus-on-film" title="Click here to read more about DC is moving its entertainment wing to L.A. to focus on film (UPDATE: Wildstorm line getting the ax)">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

I recently perused the Absolute editions of Warren Ellis' seminal shared universe comic series <em>Planetary</em> all in one sitting. And you know what? For as much as Ellis loves penning curmudgeons, the series is a panacea for doom'n'gloom superheroics. <a href="http://io9.com/5592166/the-cynical-superheroics-and-hopeful-humanity-of-warren-ellis-planetary" title="Click here to read more about The cynical superheroics (and hopeful humanity) of Warren Ellis' Planetary">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

Depending what you read, 2010's comics begin with the fictional becoming real, mythical figures becoming pawns in political power grabs, or learning to deal with post-nuclear apocalypses. Looks like it's another year of stories too close to our real lives... <a href="http://io9.com/5440008/the-beginning-of-the-year-means-the-end-of-the-worlds-in-this-weeks-comics" title="Click here to read more about The Beginning Of The Year Means The End Of The World(s) In This Week's Comics">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

Superheroes, as we all know, exist to save the day. It's what they do - Swoop down from on high, solve the problems and swoop back on out again. But what happens when they not only don't save the day, but play an active part in the destruction of the world? That's the basis for the latest relaunch of DC Comics' Wildstorm line, entitled <em>World's End</em>. <a href="http://io9.com/5037854/when-superheroes-fail-to-save-the-world" title="Click here to read more about When Superheroes Fail To Save The World">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

It wasn't the change that anyone was expecting. When Friday's rumors of a resignation within DC Comics' upper management hit the nets, <a href="http://io9.com/5016959/dc-comics-heading-for-major-shake+up">everyone was thinking executive editor Dan DiDio</a>. But instead, it was Senior VP of Business Development John Nee. Shockwaves felt around the industry tended to be of the confused, "Who is John Nee, and is this important?" flavor. Under the jump: Answers to those two questions. <a href="http://io9.com/5018666/more-changes-and-upset-for-dc-comics" title="Click here to read more about More Changes And Upset For DC Comics">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>
