The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Jennifer Lawrence said that the most emotional scene for her comes right before Katniss leaves for the Games:

I think the most heartbreaking was when they take me away at the reaping and I'm not allowed to say goodbye to my family. I remember that day really getting to me.

Maleficent

Speaking of origin stories, Disney's released the first Maleficent poster. Here's the official description of the movie:

From Disney comes "Maleficent"—the untold story of Disney's most iconic villain from the 1959 classic "Sleeping Beauty." A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land's fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal—an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king's successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent's true happiness as well.

Batman vs. Superman

Walmart's released its Black Friday ads, and they include a set of Man of Steel tie-in toys that features a Batman figure, who's slightly different than the look featured in Christopher Nolan's movies. In particular, this one has a yellow utility belt. Given the Man of Steel linkage, this might, might, be a hint as to the Batman costume we'll be seeing in the Man of Steel sequel — but realistically, it's probably just a random toy. On the other hand, you never know. [Thanks, Scott!]

Fantastic Four/The Secret Service/Assassin's Creed

20th Century Fox has rearranged its release dates for 2015. Fox has also moved the Assassin's Creed movie from a June date to August 7, 2015. [Coming Soon]

Doctor Who

On November 21, the CBBC children's show Blue Peter will start a competition for children to design gadgets that'll actually show up next year, in season eight. The competition is for kids ages six through fifteen, and asks for designs of a sonic device for Strax, Madame Vastra or Jenny Flint.

There's also a report out of The Daily Star that claims that the 50th Anniversary special may not show all the previous Doctors in the flesh, but it will feature their voices. According to the report, at least Tom Baker and Peter Davison have recorded new dialogue, whereas old recordings of other Doctors will be used. [K Pop Starz]

Almost Human

J.H. Wyman explained that, unlike Fringe, this show's going to have less of an emphasis on mythology:

These are cops. Every week there is going to be - they're going to show up at work and they're going to have a case at work. That case is going to be really compelling and really fun and it's going to take them on a journey. Through those cases we're going to learn more about our characters and the relationships are going to diversify and grow.

Not to say that there is not any mythology; there is definitely going to be some mythology. Inherently, this show is a week-to-week great action show with cases that you've never really seen before, or concepts that you have seen, but just told in very different ways, because of the nature of our program. That's how they're going to go.

J.J. Abrams agreed that the focus is on putting a twist on the police procedural show:

The type of show in that it is very much a cop procedural show, which is a very familiar show. We've seen a million buddy/cop shows and the fun of that was twisting it in a way that Joel came up with, which is having it set in a place and with specific characters that allow for conflict and cases every week that don't feel like everything you've seen a million times before. I think that this show has a level of humor that is distinct from what we've done. I think that part of it is just the relationship between Karl and Michael's characters.

Wyman also said that, while they were influenced by Blade Runner, the overall tone is based more in his own optimism:

I am a hopeful person. I really believe that the world is going to get it right somehow. I wanted to make it a brighter environment where it's not raining all the time, the atmosphere is not completely ruined, that people still have children and are very excited about their daughter's seven-year-old birthday party. That they'll want to do what they can to get her that present that she wants. That there is a sense of going forward and a sense of, okay, this is the future in 40 years.

It's still going to have a lot of the same stuff that we deal with now. It will have some things that are much better. It will have some things that are more dangerous, sure, but we're resilient and we're going to succeed. That was the difference. But as far as, of course, setting a world in the future and things like that, that's a huge influence on me.

The Originals

Michael Trevino says that there's a chance that Tyler may return to Louisiana in more crossovers like last night's:

Now that The Originals was picked up for a full season, does that mean we'll definitely see a lot of you?

Well my percentage just went up a little bit then. But it's to be determined. I don't know if I'll be going back and forth between both shows or not.

Person of Interest

According to Michael Emerson, the show's employed some intense security measures to protect some huge plot twists coming up:

We have big changes coming up in the next few weeks, and the scripts contain camouflaging and other security devices, and made up scenes and stuff, all to keep a certain set of secrets. It's interesting and exciting, but it also feels like we're a little bit paranoid right now and living in a security state. So stay tuned, because there's stuff coming down the line that is so big that the producers are very nervous.

He also previewed the questions about the Machine, and its relationship to Finch, will be explored:

The nature of the Machine has been a constant mystery. Do you know at all what it's up to, or what it wants?
What does the Machine want? I don't know what it wants, I don't know what it's doing, I don't know where it is. You'll see in the next few episodes that it's starting to be a problem and wearing on our team, because the machine is now choosing who it talks to.

And Finch feels left out.
Yeah, but how can he fight it? What's to be done? His creation, his child, is freezing him out a little bit.

Camryn Manheim and Saul Rubinek will play a married couple in a three-episode arc that's coming up. Manheim's character is Diane, who has to break through to her husband, Rubinek's Arthur (Warehouse 13 shout-out?), who is slowing losing his mind. [TV Line]

The Walking Dead

David Morrissey is busy assuring everyone that the pilot he's filmed for AMC does not necessarily mean that the Governor's going to die:

I had a little hiatus on The Walking Dead and we filmed that pilot. So I'm waiting to see. But I like The Walking Dead. I am part of The Walking Dead. I really hope to make it to season 5 of The Walking Dead. I don't know what's going to happen — that's an AMC decision, not mine. But I really consider myself to be a Walking Dead actor, and I consider myself to be the Governor and that's where I am with this at the moment. That was a nice little break for me, and I hope it happens, but I don't know how it will happen. It's been made very clear to me that this is my show. The Walking Dead is my show and I'm very proud of it and I want to be a part of that. Suffice it to say I am a Walking Dead actor and that is the show that I employed to do, and the show I love.

Guess who's visiting the Coven? The legendary Stevie Nicks!

The character Misty is a huge fan of Stevie Nicks, and has called Nicks "the White Witch," which may be a hint about where Nicks' role may lie. [TV Guide]
